This is a level of artistry and craftsmanship I have not seen in this genre of scale modeling. I like the format you use to showcase your builds too. Although I would love to hear your insights while you work I can understand that watching someone mask a one inch square area for an hour might not go over to well. Thank you for sharing this with the world! This is chicken soup for my nerdy soul!
Thank you Sir! Yeah, still working on the format. In the latest videos I actually started narrating with my sexy voice and accent lol. It's a work in progress :)
Wow, the paint work alone and all that masking, amazing effort, I bet you were glad when it was done, looks superb, one day I hope to complete a lighted star trek model and hope it looks as good as this!
That's incredible!!😮 with the lighting it's perfect 🖖🏻how 9 people can dislike such masterpiece baffles me, you earned a sub great job 😊ps ok I'm commenting in 2020😆😂😂I only just found the vid🤷🏻♂️😂
Thank you! Overall, I think it took me about 20 hours to paint all the aztecs. Cutting them was a breeze. It's placing them on the surface that took the most time. :)
Love the build!! The Aztecs look cool, actually helped me a lot with my own build! Music is also fantastic! Great vid, great views of the Lady in Gray, great build!!! Keep Building!
Thank you Sir! I used Tamiya paints. For the base color, I used a mix of 2 part Flat White (XF-2) and 1 part Royal Light Grey (XF-80). For the darker tones I used some Tamiya darker greys like Neutral Grey and German Grey. Hope it helps!
I’m sure you’ve been asked a million times before on the Aztec pattern. I saw the Aztec sheet you completed. How did you do them, cut them etc. Sorry to be a pain asking such questions 🤣. It’s just the best one I’ve seen
Nice! I just painted my models and glued it together. I have not assembled my Enterprise E model yet but you give some ideas, although not sure if Im going to bother outfitting with LEDs. My Enterprise D model saucer section pin broke so the saucer and secondary hull no longer fit together, have to fix that. My Klingon bird of prey has a broken wing, have to fix that. My Voyagers movable nacelle pylons sometimes dont stay up. Only model I have thats not broken in some way is DS9 but thats bc it hangs from the ceiling out of harms way. I never put LEDs in my ships as when I made them way back I dont think anyone was doing that, but I just cluld not be bothered to go to that effort. But yours look great. I think you went through more masking tape for that model than when I painted my house, lol. So when do you start filming your own movies with your super detailed starship?
Thanks DK! I also started building ships without lights. But they do add so much to the realism! Regarding your Enterprise D, you can display it in seperate sections; secondary hull, primary hull, and captain's yacht. I have two of these and will build one like that. I have no experience nor the equipment necessary for filming my models, so movie making is out of my plans for now lol
I used a cap from a Tamiya paint jar. Drilled a hole smaller than the rod's outside DIA, but big enough to pass the wires through. And I glued it to the underside of the base cover with hot glue.
Great video! How hard was it to get the lights set up? I'm new to modeling and want to set up lights like you did, but I was curious how difficult it would be for a noob like me. Also what colors did you use for the primer, base and ship colors? And lastly where did you go to find the template for the aztec designs?
Thanks J B! It wasn't too hard to set up all the lights. But you do need some experience in soldering. You can find different circuits on the internet. For the primer, I used the one from Krylon. The base color is a mix of 2 part Flat White and 1 part Royal Light Grey from Tamiya. For the darker tones I used some darker greys like Neutral Grey and German Grey also from Tamiya. I did the aztecs myself by cutting tiny rectangles from masking tape and placing them accordingly.
Since the windows are so small, there's practically no paint that gets inside the model. Besides, the LEDs aren't that close to the windows, so they don't get paint on them.

They aren't square. They are more oval. I used a tiny drill bit to drill both ends of each window and then I cut out the center with a #11 X-acto blade.
I am currently working on my own Enterprise E and plan on lighting it. How did you open the windows? Im drilling out the windows at the bottom and the top then using an blade to open the center. It takes some time to make it square and without any curves on the side. Just wondering if you used a better way. Nice job Ill be using this video for technique and reference as I build my own.
I drilled out the windows exactly as you described it. There's no "magical" way. Except that the windows aren't square! They are oval! After cutting them out, I used the same #11 blade to clean them as much as I could, round them of, and then I used Tamiya thin cement to remove any residue left behind. The cement melts those tiny residues away. Hope the video helps you out! :)
Darek Sobera hello...fantastic model I’ve been struggling with the window clean up... can you give me a few lines on this Tamiya cement technique you used??? I’ve got quite a bit of plastic flashing after I cut them out
I do build, but just as a hobby. I'm not a professional modeler, and wouldn't feel comfortable building for a commission - especially a model this complex. And shipping would be complicated, since a model like this is somewhat fragile.
The painting, remarkable.
Thank you :)
The painting skills you've got are on a whole other level! Damn! I love the Sovereign Class! Best looking Star Fleet ship, hands down!
Thank you sir! Yes, a very nice design.
But my favourite will always be the refit :)
Total WIN on the Aztecs... BRAVO!!
Thank you!

That thing looks just as good as the studio model itself
Thank you!

Thank you. Yeah, I was relieved when the project was finished lol
Excellent work!! I have one of these in a box to build. Just started getting back to modeling after nearly 35 years.
Thank you!
Welcome back to the hobby!
@@LightsNcraftsDid you individually hand cut all the Aztec patterns, or did you find some pre-cut masks?
Yes, I individually cut all the patterns by hand.
Thank you for sharing your work on this beautiful star ship Enterprise E sovereign class.
Thank you for the kind words! :)
Darek Sobera are you able to built me one
@@dilawerk1349 which star ship do you like me to build? You have build this beautiful ship already?
Dude, You have the patience of Jobe. Hats off to you.
Haha! Thank you!
Omg that paint masking looks brutal. You have way more patience than I.
Haha!
Thank you.
You just need to focus on the end result :)
Wow! Amazing work. I'm so jealous of your ability. Many people would pay for a ship like that. Including me 😄
You are an artist, Sir.
Thank you, Sir.
I'm just passionate :)
Very nice deflector dish!
Amazing work, sir. Not just the ship, but the photography, the pacing and the music. Truly fascinating video.
Thank you!
Darek, This is incredible! The aztec is perfect and you did it all without paint masks. My hats off to you my friend!
I watched this and my eyes were glued....honest opinion....amazing..this is incredible work ...best ship build iv seen ....well done
Thanks for the kind words! I appreciate it! :)
Excellent - this is the best one of these I have seen in a long time!
That is an astounding build with an amazing paint scheme and lighting design outstanding job.
Thank you James! See you on The Model Shop! ;)

Is there an Aztec template you can buy? I wan to use one on some builds.
That paint job looked painful to do lol fantastic job amazing looking model!
Thank you!
Yeah, masking was a pain lol
that is one awesome looking ship I'm glad I subscribed .
Thank you, I'm glad you like it!

you really bring this ship to life and you are an incredible craftsman. but I'd love to know what paint brand and codes you used.

I just cut tiny strips of different lengths from masking tape and randomly placed them on the model.

What did you use to mount the mounting Rod to the base I am doing the same model and having issues on how to mount the sand base
I used a cap from a Tamiya paint jar. Drilled a hole smaller than the rod's outside DIA, but big enough to pass the wires through. And I glued it to the underside of the base cover with hot glue.
How did you get the window so clean? I can never find the right tool to make it any easier

This is incredible. I"m almost afraid to ask how long it took you to make those masks and paint everything.
Hey! Amazing job... Just wondering, where did u get the lighting circuits?
Thank you!
I made them myself! Most of them are just sets of LED strips.
Ok thanks!
Also what size drill bit did u use to drill the windows??? Is 1/16" too big?
I used drill bits slightly smaller than the molded windows. Then I used and X-acto knife to clean them.
I think 1/16 is a little too big.
hey, when painting the kit, how does the spray not go through the windows and paint over the LED inside the model?
Since the windows are so small, there's practically no paint that gets inside the model. Besides, the LEDs aren't that close to the windows, so they don't get paint on them.
Hello, i have a questions for you. What scheme of colors are you using?

They aren't square. They are more oval. I used a tiny drill bit to drill both ends of each window and then I cut out the center with a #11 X-acto blade.
All You need Is Ramming Speed Sound Effects And Then U Can Imitate Kirk Flying In To The Battle Of Sector 001 And Reking Dem Nooby Borg
Captivated Gaming kirk??
Does it come with Aztec decals
No. I cut the patterns myself.
