I haven’t dated in 10 years since my divorce as I didn’t trust men around my then kids (now young adults) and being solo isn’t so bad. I don’t trust men around my autistic son who is 21 and shall never date as he is so vulnerable, believing and kind and easy to be taken advantage of. I also have to be careful with his support team and whom I chose to be around him. How sad is that? 😢

AGreed. I must have exhibited so many trauma symptoms in my childhood and i was labelled a bit STRANGE by the teachers. But really speaking my so called strangeness was a constant cry for help. I was severely physically a**sed by my dad and my parents and entire family was in a sect. I carried a very heavy burden throughout my childhood, became a life long insomniac due to the constant fear and state of fight or flight adrenaline response state that i lived under continuously.
Teachers SHOULD have acted somehow, but they didn't, even when i was forced to be weeks away from school on end due to my physical state after having been abused. Nobody ever did anything.

Most, if not all abuse children that I have encountered, act out in negative ways. They are often trust in rules where they think that they are adults, and they become defiant trying to protect their inner child. These people gotta get over themselves and realize that this baby was sexually abused, emotionally abused, thrust in situations that she had no tools to handle, and you expect her to act polite, normal and coddled give me a break. @@JaneDoe-pw6iz we are all responsible for our children. It is a teacher’s duty. They are the guardian when the child is not at home. This is in the education act in Canada and I’m pretty sure in the United States. I can understand what you’re saying because it’s not always easy to pick up on every signa but the teachers clearly stated they saw the behaviours over a period of time. So they were picking up on the signals. One call may or may not have made a difference, but it certainly should’ve happened. It is your duty as a teacher to report any suspected concern. I think it’s a teacher’s responsibility to become familiar with the behavioural signs of said abuse. They are everywhere online and pamphlets, etc. if you’re going to work with children, that should be something you’re very familiar with. It’s like sending a child out in the middle of winter in freezing temperatures with no coat. The child didn’t bring a coat to school. But you know there’s no coat so are you going to just send that child out? Every child needs adults to look out for them, even if they’re 12 or 13 and their behaviours annoy you. It is 100% a sign of a problem to have such behaviour consistently over a period of time. The withdrawal depression, anxiety and failing grades I mean come on what more do you need? These are classic indicators of abuse. The absence of Mom coming to school?. I don’t understand how anyone could miss this? That’s all I’m saying because I hope someone will read this and change if they were ignoring such behaviors.. 🙏

WE KNOW Maddie was drugged the teacher DiD NOT KNOW THAT and would be legally required to report it if she suspected anything like that was happening. There is no reason to think the teachers knew this was going on and said nothing about it. other people in Maddies life have not been lying to the police except her mother.

Agreed. The teachers have a LOT on their plates and we live in a great public school district. My dtr. W ADHD (2e)- she has a 504 plan, not an IEP-special Ed classes. 504s allow for accommodations in test taking and homework timing.
She has struggled with the right meds and treatment since 5th. Poor grades in some classes, still struggling w focus at times. We are hands on in her treatment so she can be a fully independent adult someday. I don’t know if I would automatically think something was sinister, but with continued issues would contact the parents and go from there.

@@BeeCJ I don’t know her teachers so I can’t say one way or the other. But I listened to the interview with this one.
Just to clarify it is the teacher’s job to teach and ensure her students are learning. All of the students, including and especially the students that are zoning out. It doesn’t matter that she didn’t know she was being drugged. She clearly identified a number of concerning behaviours that were interfering with the child’s learning. She even made it sound like it really wasn’t her role nor could she do anything about it. It was so depressing to hear a teacher seemingly care so little that she never reached out to do something.
What I heard this teacher say was she was aware there was an IEP, or should have, and she hadn’t seen it? That’s a legal document in place to provide a student with specific strategies and accommodations based on a proven professional assessment that ensures the child has in place in order to be able to learn. Students who have an IEP require this in order to access the curriculum. It’s like if you can’t walk, you have to ensure the student’s has access to their wheelchair. If a child is hearing impaired you have to ensure a child’s hearing aid or device is worn and working. Obviously, the unseen needs are harder to understand, but a teacher is a professional who has to understand and put in place what is needed. Again it is her job!
Further, teachers should be able to identify patterns of behaviours that are getting in the way of learning and know what to do. Such as the zoning out. There are clearly listed patterns of behaviours that indicate students are possibly being emotionally or psychologically abused. You can look them up in your local district. I know every single one of my teachers had them listed on their desk as a reminder. Most didn’t need it because they understood. Again, it is a teacher’s professional responsibility and obligation to our students to understand these things and what to do about it. If these behaviours are seen, and clearly they were, it is a legal responsibility for a teacher to report it to the appropriate agency. It’s not a choice. Also teachers act as guardians when children are at school. They are responsible for the safety of their students - that includes emotional safety.
It doesn’t sound like Maddie was getting accommodations and strategies she that would have greatly helped her because she didn’t even know what the IEP said because she hadn’t read it. Maybe I heard that wrong but that’s what I thought I heard?
Accommodations and strategies should be clearly understood by the teacher and in place for the student., it sounds complicated, but it’s actually pretty easy . When teaching any teacher knows how to provide certain strategies and accommodation that often benefit many students. So for example, you may be teaching how to solve a problem. Some students require visual aids as part of their IEP. So you, as a part of your teaching tools, provide that visual aid as a chart on the wall or perhaps individual sheets for a group of students that benefit. To be perfectly honest it really is just good teaching. It is not something you have to go over with the individual student and do separately. But you should be checking in with students who are struggling more frequently. That is very easy to build into your teaching program as well.
One of the things I picked up on that may have been a part of her IEP I don’t no? But it is common for an IEP related to someone like Maddie, that buddy or a learning, buddy stays close to them, especially if they have anxiety. This teacher almost proudly talked about how she had to separate her from her friend. This may have been why her negative behaviours became more apparent and she is much as said this. The thing is if it helped her to have a study buddy or a learning, buddy with her and they needed redirection again that’s the teacher’s job.
Lastly, I just want to point out if a student on an IEP, is still failing, not doing work struggling then then teacher should be meeting with the resource department or whoever takes care of special education and reviewing the IEP ASAP and examine why? You can’t just ignore it or say there’s not much you could do about it. Again, that’s your job! It’s like going to a hospital and being treated for cancer and a medical professional tells you well there’s not much we can do about it because we can’t find the medication you need.
I have a long history in the classroom also was in charge of all the special education in my entire board for a long time was also a principal and served in many other capacities. So believe me when I tell you, I have nothing but respect for the teaching profession. Teachers have a tough job. However, it is their job. There are many amazing teachers out there. I just feel like in this specific case from what I heard during this interview that unfortunately this teacher did not appear to understand her role. I don’t blame her for what happened to Maddie, but I think i it was a missed opportunity that this poor little girl could’ve greatly benefitted from and it sickens me.
The reason I am taking the time to say these things is because I’m really hoping that if another child is in this exact situation that this teacher or another teacher reading this or another adult will actually do something about it. You know when a child is struggling. We all know when a child is struggling. Do something about it. I can forgive just about anything, but I can never forgive giving up on a kid - especially a kid that clearly needed help.🙏

@luskentyre65 I agree 100% I used to be in charge of the entire special education and resources including ensuring teachers were following IEP’s for an entire board of education. No assessment should occur without the context of a child’s life. For example, if they’ve had a trauma, you can’t assess them as ADHD that is simply not reliable. Obviously, she had behaviours that were concerning and understandable given what we now know. Sadly, many of the doctors go with what the parents are telling them as they cannot see what really happens in the environment. They base their assessments on teacher and parent information. From my experience, we have many wonderful teachers. But unfortunately, we have teachers that do not follow what they need to follow or care enough to make the extra effort. They just want the kids drugged because they’re a problem in their mind. Sadly, this is the truth. I have experienced it too many times. I’m always grateful for those loving wonderful teachers that actually care about their students. If one teacher had carried enough and paid attention to this child and reported concerns it might have saved her life. 😔

Jenn knew what was going on & gained from it (IMO) She is not a dumb potato like some people see her. She is highly manipulative, sly & a bully. She was jealous of her own daughter in every way. @ it was during the trial where she was looking a little disheveled, but I just thought she was tired. We were all in the lifestream, and she was on there the entire time every single day. I don’t know what’s happening.

Who, the teacher? Why would you say that? She’s probably not regularly questioned by a detective. I sometimes have a processing difficulty with recall, I would hope that no one would say I am not all there. How well does she know Maddie except in her class, when she has probably a hundred or more other students. She mentioned the IEP but she’s not the SpEd teacher from the sound of it, but a general education teacher at the school.

My concern is your title and thumbnail continue to victimize Maddie, it even shows the perpetrators crying an states it's "Maddies flippant attitude" of course she was flippant she was being sexually abused and her so called Mother enabled&& allowed it!!! please take this down, it's not right

I need all who are involved in Beautiful Maddie's Not being here anymore; to be Charged, Convicted, Trialed with a Totally Right Verdict and Sentencing Done! I can't stand it when I hear about that Monster sitting up in jail begging for his Parents to send him his Care Commissary Snack Pack of Chips & Pickles to munch on after what he's done! This is Absolutely Horrific to me! 😢😠😡

As a abused child I completely understand her. It’s so easy for the people that failed her to switch the blame. Sickening all of you including the person that created this video.
