Totally disagree about the Folgore front end. I think the simplified graphics around the grille put more focus on the center grille with the 3D maserati logo whereas on the combustion model kind of distracts from it and adds unnecessary grounding, making it look less fluid.

It looks mostly like a facelift. Doesn't seem to be anything that is attention grabbing especially for that insane price tag..
I prefer the MC20 over this, because it's bold/daring, takes risks on the design, and challenges the paradigm of what Italian design can be.. Rather than seeing a facelift like the GranTourismo..
From a business perspective it makes sense though that they need to update and facelift the design before they can take bold moves like the MC20.. I'm looking forward to the next new GranTurismo after this one, where more boldness and risk in the design will likely happen.

Did you expect completely different proportions? It's still the same model, hence the same name. Completely different engine, new chassis, completely new body panels, what would you ask more? It's like complaining the 911 it's always a facelift, makes no sense.

@Michael Diaz The previous generation GT is nearly 20 years old……. If they were going to be “bold” and change the design, I’d say it’s “now or never”. This new model will be around for 7 to 10 years at least, so that’s nearly 30 years in total with what is essentially the same car. Maybe they are going down the 911 route? Maybe they have no money to allow for a complete refresh? Maybe they are lazy? Who knows, but one thing is certain, there ain’t going to be any grand redesign with this model. Personally I have been waiting for many years with anticipation for this new GT, but I am very disappointed tbh. I won’t be buying one.

In my opinion, your redesign of the mc20 look very nice. But the Granturismo front is not great. It looks very much like a Jaguar F type. They should have kept the front light in the same way, just make them modern and it would have been perfect.
I'll see it and the jaguar almost next to each other at my local garage and be able to compare the front in real life and I think the Maserati will lack some personnality here.
Hm.. For me personally the MC20 is the best & most exciting car design of the last couple of years while the new granTurismo is just a facelift of a very, very old car. I don't even think it looks better than the model from 2007

After that, I already thought I lost all my enthusiasm for (new) cars. Which recent car designs do you love then?
It think that the MC20 looks better than any modern Ferrari. Maserati know how a car is supposed to looks like.

Yeah the kinda just pulled the same thing as Jaguar did with the F-type.
Most of the critique levied at the MC20 doesn’t hold up in my opinion; not every car needs to have the same, generic, “dynamic” flowing properties.
They executed the proportions well while still effortlessly creating DRG that lets you know it’s a Maserati at a glance. All styling elements are homogenous. Thank god they didn’t turn it into another generic super car design.
Yeah I don't understand why every car needs to follow that. Polestar doesn't and those cars look fucking awesome. Tesla does and those cars look like generic GTA models. MC20 looks great imo
So all supercar designs are generic now? What about the Lamborghini Adventador (or really almost any Lamborghini for that matter) vs the Ferrari 488? Or perhaps the Audi R8 vs the McLaren Artura? Are those designs generic as well?

Hmmm… I have to disagree on that one, the MC20 flies above the gran turismo. The MC20 is and will continue to age beautifully

The mc20 is a street legal race car. The Maserati Gran Turismo is, as the name implies, a Grand Touring Sports car. Neither one is better than the other, they're just designed to serve different functions.
It is recycled Alfa Romeo 8C.
I like the MC20 because its different and not all cars need to be flowing and emotional some need to be bold in other ways.
That being said you have to remember that the MC20 was originally made for Alfa to be the Alfa Romeo 8C or 6C something like that and it was a last minute decision to make it a Maserati so some design changes may have been expedited.
But still both the GT and the MC20 look good, I just don't understand why not use the Ferrari 3.9L V8 from F8 or Portofino? Currently it feels underpowered and in no man's land in terms of the GT market.
The Folgore looks nice but feels wrong

@@67claudius not anymore at least. Ferrari was under Fiat, which was under Fiat-Chrysler, which then partnered with PCA to become Stellentis. I also didn’t know Ferrari left. Anyways, Ferrari didn’t wish to give engines to Maserati anymore, so that’s why Maserati has built the Nettuo V6. (some minor spelling mistakes, probably)

both designs are beautiful, in their own right. I actually love the mc20 "static" approach little bit more, just because it is more unique and more bold design than "classic" grand tourismo.
Fine that they kept the overall shape. The original Granturismo is a beautiful car. First gen horizontal headlights are objectively more attractive. Scale and placement of the lamps doesn’t work on this design.
I think the design of the 2024 Maserati GranTurismo looks old / dated. Kind of boring imo.
The old gran turismo looks better
A lot of people in the comments are saying that the GranTurismo design is old, but think about what it would look like if it was changed. It cannot be changed because it already was very good from the start. The most Maserati could do to freshen it up was just adding vents (which isn't the right way - but there really isn't anything else you can do).
trying to make an old design looks like new never work, making it looks timeless in the long term work way better, an excellent example is the Rolls Royce Phantom.
Or maybe stick with the same front. You can maybe update interior with better looking screens or newer controls. If you have shitty head/rear light graphics you can make that look more modern without changing the overall design.
I guess many people are forgetting the horrendous evolution of the 458 Italia to the F8.

5:54 I actually like the MC20 for the reasons he changed it. The bottom design is a gorgeous car but looks sort of like all the others in my opinion. Also I think the MC20 design is better than the Gran Turismo which is rounded less chiseled than the previous gen. Looks like the previous gen got some plastic surgery that it didn't need lmao

old gran turismo looks better imo. this "new" gran turismo looks like the 599 gtb Fiorano. Boring imo. Maserati should have used the Alfieri concept design.
I'll take an old gran turisimo any day, one of the best sounding V8s on the planet, and I say that as a muscle car fan and europe hater

Maserati is the brand that inspired me on completing my final year project. Specifically the Maserati Alfieri concept, MC12 and the previous generation Gran Turismo.
Maserati should have stuck with the design language of the Alfieri concept for the new Gran Turismo. That design far exceeded this production car, and even though it doesn't exactly conform to their current design language, it was still unmistakably Maserati.

In my opinion, the design of the tail is very similar with the Alfa Romeo Giulia.
The previous gen GranTurismo looks better. This new one is too tame, not aggressive enough in the face. I'd take the previous gen over this one anyday.

The 2 cars were designed with different design philosophies in mind. The old GranTurismo was designed to be more aggressive. The new one was designed to be more elegant, and to stay in line with Maserati’s new design language

The same way we all think the MC20 is a work of art where this guy thinks it’s too static, this new GranTurismo just has a different design language. I personally quite like it. Don’t get me wrong: I still prefer the previous GranTurismo over this one, but I like the look of this one as well

I compeltely disagree with your opinion on GranTurismo.
Yes it is more curved, it has more fluidity, but it seems just lazy by doing so. I can't put my finger on what's causing that, but overall car just looks dated, whereas MC20 looks like something that is really fresh and new.
MC20 might be a bit more static, but it makes up for it with a lot more angled surfaces, whereas GranTurismo looks like something that belongs to 2002 more than to 2022. It's too curved, too 'fat' looking.
I like this GranTurismo, but is it just me, or does the roof look a little high, and the rear end looks a tiny bit saggy?

I really think the MC20 is one of the most gorgeous cars to come out recently, and its unique how the top is designed to be beautiful, yet the bottom is agressive to produce downforce. The new GranTurismo in my opinion especially from the front and rear view doesnt look as good as the previous generation and lacks character
I agree with u regarding the new grantoursimo. It's beautiful and modernized version of the older design which already amazing, the new rims fit the car much better and give it a sportier look. Regarding the mc20, I see what ur saying but I still think it looks great

The Gran Turismo is a cheeky little Grand Touring car. It's right there in the name. The MC20 on the other hand is an easy-going supercar.
Neither one is better than the other. They're just different.
I like it, yes it looks tamed, but proportions look good, it’s a nicely done GT, and about a V8, well Bembli, we both know it’s forbidden to be cooler than it’s cousin.
Maserati should be V8

I’m gonna go ahead and disagree with you HARD on this. I think the new Grandturismo is a modest improvement on the out going model. The MC20 is eye catching and unique, which is appropriate because it is a special edition car. Nobody flipped out because the Viper didn’t match Dodge’s VBL. The Grandturismo is more flowy, sure, but not every car needs to look like sheets blowing in the wind. Frankly, the Grandturismo is a budget Ferrari and it looks like a budget Ferrari. It’s not gonna turn heads like the MC20.
They finally update there designs and make an absolute BEAUTIFUL car and mess it all up with a v6. Take one step forward and two steps back. The sound is absolutely horrible. Bring back the v8 which is the soul of the brand.
I'll say it: FUCK ELECTRISITY !! I honestly don't know who would buy this one especially compared to the previous one. I think it looks way worse than the old one and don't even get me started on the powertrain
This new one looks like a baby sister from the front. Back is quite good, but front is not a granturismo at all. it looks like a chicken
The only problem I see with this vehicle is it is designed with Electric and ice dual purpose in mind, like the new BMW 5 series which sits taller than the outgoing model. When you design a chassis for both petro and EV, some compromises need to be made for sure, for sure.
When I saw MC20 for the first time, I felt like I'm watching a supercar from 10 years ago. After I heard the price (which is much less expensive than I thought), I understood why, and thought that's actually not a bad thing. Yes MC20 looks very static, but enough cool.
Hi, this Maserati GranTurismo is such a great car Trofeo is a very nice design I liked a lot every proportion is sleek I will go for the Trofeo trim with 542 hp v6 which is an awesome great colour combination

Agree. The GT wins the looks department, personally I'd go for the EV. If it came out with a V8 I would have gone with that but it doesn't, so the EV would be my choice especially how it looks traditional and doesn't scream out EV
I can usually see your point of view most of the time but this right here no way the MC20 is a beautiful car & the GT looks like the last GT. It's funny because when you started talking about why the GT looks better in my head I was like I bet he liked the the T50. So I found your T50 video & sure enough you loved it. Man you got both of these so wrong the T50 is terrible looking the tech is dope but that car is hideous. If Gordon Murray's name wasn't tied to the T50 no one would give that car a second look.

The other one, mc20 i think is ugly, agree to the vertical odd lines. Doesnt match much with the rest of the car. Reminds me a bit of what they did to the Enzo
It's a very dull, unadventurous design. The front looks puffy and the rear too much like the old GT. Bring back sharp lines and sleek noses like the Khamsin !
Nothing special about granturismo. Pretty car but thats it. Front end looks like mercedes sls amg. MC20 is much better looking car.
The new Gran Turismo is a bloated, uninspiring, compromised coupe. The first gen is way better. Your analysis is way too focused on just lines. Volume and proportions are more important
No brainer choice - 100% on GT V6 twin turbo , I m not ready for EV , the ICE provide the soul for an engaging driving experience on road
Maybe the side vent feature on the MC20 is a bit static but you can’t ignore the volume, the proportion of a MR sportscar is light years better than this whatever Gran Turismo.
Maserati salesman here, the reason why the bottom portion of the mc20 is designed the way it was is primarily for performance, the blacked out portions are designed with performance in mind while the painted section is true Maserati design, thus the split design

I like the new update/facelift to the GT but the MC20 is the most beautiful car on sale today and one of the best designs of the 2000s.
The new one looks more traditionally oldskool sporty styled. For some that's a plus, but I'd say it's a conservative step backwards.
It looks to be only a facelift, rather than a completely new generation. Looks too samey compared to the previous gen which was in the market for ages. Elegant but not new enough.
Tbh I don't think the MC20 looks static. For me bot of these cars look fantastic. Just like siblings
I wished the rear LED grraphic would be more like Grecale mocking 3200GT.
I might be alone but the front end with the flood lights was the best front end. The newer bumpers remind me of prius or other Japanese cars front ends with the gratuitous vents.

You burn through very little power when cruising but will drain the battery fast under acceleration

I guess Maserati lost a big part of their budget, cuz they’re just talking the MC20 headlights and putting them on every new Maserati model they make lol. They’re not even remotely different. Expect to see these headlights looking completely out of place on the next generation Levante
