    These videos are simple and informative. Whoever edits these does a really good job. I don't even care if I need to know about the topic covered in the video it's that good of a series!

    Magnetic pen works well for getting the keepers when removing the springs. Do not be cheap and get a good valve spring compression tool. If you are changing valve springs while heads are still on the car, either KNOW where TDC of your piston is located or have a air compressor tool that will hold the valves up... both is at once is recommended... if the valves against the head drop and you lose cyl pressure you will still drop the valve.

    First off would love to say thank you for all the tips! I have learned a good bit of information from watching your videos even after being pretty well mechanically inclined. With all this being said, I had a quick question. I'm running a 4 cylinder turbo application and pushing some pretty high boost levels (between 35 and 42psi). I'm still on factory valve springs and though the motor runs great and is making good power, Would this have negative effect on power or more importantly spool effect? I feel like spool time is a little slow for me and spool recovery in between gears is a little hesitant. I would love to hear your opinion. I already do have upgraded valve springs and titanium retainers and new valve seals on hand, but have just not put them in. Thank you for your info!

    I'm extremely interested in solenoids. I don't like the turning resistance because of the springs & valvetrain. I can have the AC, water, and oil pumps, run off of electric motors, so the only thing taking power from the crankshaft, is the alternator. And until I replace the springs with a computer, them too.

    I'd be interested in learning when and where to use each valve and the types of applications that would benefit from this. I have an SOHC that I'm trying to get more rpm's out of but the cam isn't necessarily built for it. After market cams are impossible to find for my car so I was thinking how would advancing the cam and using a strong spring for higher rpms work vs spending a ridiculous chunk of change for a completely custom valvetrain.

    $60 LS6 springs FTW!also, some OHV engines are 10,000 rpm capable so i wouldnt say a DOHC necessary revs higher.

    • @banddude121
      @banddude121 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      PC Master Race And some DOHC are capable of 20,000rpm. DOHCs do rev higher and that is why they are used instead of OHV.

    • @Jimi8512
      @Jimi8512 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Valve float is when the RPM of the valve train is so high that the spring does not have time to extend fully before the rocker comes down again. Meaning that you would see a compressed spring that never seems to move back to its uncompressed state. The symptoms of this is that the valve would never close and collides with the piston.

    • @jasaircraft
      @jasaircraft 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jimi8512 by symptoms i meant how the engine sounds/behaves when this is happening and also what happens to dataloged signals.

    Do you need springs if your still running stock cams. If you have the rpm raised in the ecu. Say 1,000rpm over stock reline would you need to upgrade the springs for this

      Yah for 1000 rpm you should definitely replace it. But keeping a stock cam means your power band will not improve at all.

    Imo this clip was a great idea but not informative enough. You should of added that cylinder head castings are not always the same. As with valve stem height. Spring seats often vary, even from each other on the head. And to get your ideal spring rate at the seat each spring needs matched to the spring seat/valve by shimming. You can't just get a mass produced valve spring, throw it in a mass produced head and expect certain spring pressures by just throwing them together.. To many variables.
