I was just wondering if I can run this spring in my LS3 Camshaft swap. Since SGParts took the time to make this video then that's who's going to get my money! Thank you!

No kidding. I had to turn off the video. And I really wanted to finish it in case he said something technical I didn't know.

Great video idea! I have also second guessed myself on this very topic. Valve springs are a Very interesting and quite often over looked crucial component in engines, esp in the performance realm. Thanks guys

Good info, used lots of LS7 Blue springs myself on SBC stuff with comp 787 or 1787 retainers. Think they changed the part number for the set of 16 a few times. Herd they no longer come painted, maybe it's cause there are offshore ones that come blue now?

Are they good for .585 lift of the sloppy stage 2?

They are not exactly the same. Everyone says that but the yellow had a higher coil bind. I test a bunch of them. We pushed some yellow springs close to .550 in the past, you should not but we did. I would use the PAC, comps are ok too. I have some friends on racing teams that use the PAC springs and they change them every few races, half season at most. I'll buy a few sets from them for next to nothing. Once in a while il find one thats a little weaker, would atill be fine on a small cam but i toss those and run them in all my street engines. I buy there valves and stuff too. Usually titanium. I wouldn't use titanium on the street. The parts let metal wear off into your motor and will get on your bearings. It usually winds up very tiny particles and its not magnetic.

How does the power max plus cam perform in a 5.3?

We did a camshaft shootout that should answer that question!

Hey man I have ordered a btr stage 2 212/218 .553 .553 cam , and I got my hands on some factory c5 ls6 243 heads with the yellow valve springs and was wondering will they hold up with that cam? or do I have to change them to the newer ls6 valve springs?

Yes. They will work great if low miles on springs

This answered all the questions I had about the LS6 springs and your venerable LS6 Power Max Plus cam. As usual, excellent work, and thank you for continuing to post informative content.

Will the blue springs work with a 585 lift cam with 228/230 duration

Unfortunately no, the lift is too high.

How do you like your power max plus cam in your daily??? I have been thinking of pulling the trigger on it since you did the cam dyno video plus the price is great. How does it run in your truck? What converter? And is it easy on the valvetrain? I'm running a btr stage 2 212/218 and the ramp rates seem aggressive and slamming my stainless valves pretty hard. It runs great just want a smoother profile for daily. Ibwas thinking cam motion or your power max plus.. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Great videos!

You will need a 3000 stall or higher to enjoy this cam. My truck is a stick shift and lighter weight and drives fine.
I wouldn't be concerned about it being hard on the valve train, cams of this size are not hard on things like rockers or valve seats. Just road tripped this one across Texas in one weekend, did great!

I recently just purchased a set of blue beehive springs. All my springs came with a sticker that said made in Mexico. Did I get scammed? Or are they made there?

    • @Sdpartscenter
      @Sdpartscenter  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Nah, you didn't get scammed. They've been made in Mexico for quite some time including the newer raw-finish springs.

I have a 2003 Corvette Z06 and decided to change valve springs as a safety measure. Car has 23,000 miles on it. When I pulled valve cover I expected to see yellow valve springs but they are natural color, no paint. Can I be confident that a previous owner already changed them or were some of the suspect ones natural color?
