    People who defend Moss are so quick to shit on Dante Culpepper. Culpepper's best season was 2004, where he had a 110 qb rating. You know what, Randy Moss was injured a lot that year and only caught a little more than 700 yards. He was a great QB. Culpepper's decline had to do with a massive knee injury, not losing Moss.
    Meanwhile Jerrys best season he had Elvis Grbac throwing more passes to him than Steve Young. Jerry made every QB look great.

      That's why I no longer have discussions about the best players in team sports. I wanted to play wide receiver my whole life because of Jerry Rice, when I got to high school nobody could throw me the ball. Even when you have a quarterback who can throw the ball he needs protection so you have to have a receiver who can run the route and have good hands, you have to have a quarterback who can throw the ball to the receiver, then you have to have an offensive line that can give the quarterback the time and protection to do that. Thats why Tom Brady has been so successful. Randy Moss is a better wide receiver then Jerry Rice because he could do everything Jerry Rice could do but Jerry Rice couldn't do everything Randy Moss could do. Unfortunately as you put it Jerry had great quarterbacks and Jerry also didn't share his catches with another great receiver like Chris Carter 🤷🏾‍♂️.

    In my opinion, Jerry Rice is the greatest wide receiver of all time. But, Randy Moss is the best. I think there's a difference between the two terms. Greatest goes more along with your legacy such as success, longevity, work ethic, etc... But, in Moss' best years, his impact on the team and his play slightly surpassed Rice's best years. Remember, Moss impacted the game in more ways than just his own production. Moss almost guaranteed a constant double or even triple team. That opens up the rest of the offense. There's a reason why he was on two of the three greatest scoring offenses in NFL history. But, Rice beats him out on the things that really matter legacy-wise. He's a better winner, hard worker, better leader, etc..

Which is also a higher average then Moss. If you're saying Moss is such a deep threat and Jerry isn't why is he beating him in those categories? Not to mention it became a lot easier for teams to air it out in the 2000's then in the 80's and early mid 90's. Even over the course of their entire career, Moss only averaged slightly better yds per catch then Rice did. You should do research to see how many TD's Rice had that were deep passes.. If Moss had the character, drive and work ethic of Rice there would not be a discussion, it would be obvious. Rice is the best WR to ever play the game and top 5 player of all time because of his character, drive and work ethic, not because he's taller, faster, jumps higher than anyone else, a true master of his craft. Not to mention off the field Rice is and always was a true role model, Rice affected an entire generation or more in such a positive way unimaginable to Moss. Jerry Rice in his 40s was catching TDs in the super bowl while Moss in his 30s still had the entitlement of a 19 year old. Hard works beats talent if talent doesn't work hard. Moss achieved everything he did because he was blessed with once in a generation talent, Rice achieved everything he did because he EARNED it.

I really can't fault anyone for going with Moss but 3 Rings for Rice, the longevity and the multiple records get him the title GOAT.

      You don't just judge teams or player based off paper. If that's the case then USC was the best team in the 2005 season. No they weren't because they played Texas and Texas won and what matters is what's done on the field. Stats aren't subjective, they are facts. If stats don't matter, then why do we play the game? The eye test is dumb. If that's the test then we should just say a player is the best without them playing a down because they have the best mechanics/skill.

      Agree with Barry being better than Emmitt , but Rice is the GOAT . You can give the ball to a RB quicker than you can give to a receiver . A WR like has to work a little bit to get open . Jerry wasn't the fastest or the tallest , but he could take a 5 yard pass and turn it into a 80 yard TD. People put up the argument about Jerry Rice having better QBS , but Randy Moss was on some great Vikings teams his first couple of years . Randy had good QBS with strong arms and people weren't saying this when he was killing the stat sheet with these same QBS .

      The difference in those comparisons is that Barry objectively would have broken Smith's record had he continued playing. He kept producing with age. You can compare them head to head and see how/why Barry Sanders was better.
      With all these people claiming Moss, it's always about what he could have done. Never what he actually DID. Because what he did simply didn't hold a candle to what Jerry Rice did. So there's an illogical argument to suit the belief instead of facts and figures. Here's a fact: Moss fell off a cliff in 2010 at 33. Basically as soon as his physical prime ended. All the great all time receivers had some life at 33. Rice should've been MVP in 1995 at 33, leading the league with 1848 yards, catching something like 122 passes and scoring 15 TD's. Steve Largent was still productive. Art Monk was still productive. Tim Brown was still productive. Charlie Joiner was still productive. Moss was completely dependent on his physical gifts. Once they eroded, he went from being a threat, to a guy who got let go by TWO separate teams in one season. And you wanna call him the GOAT?!?! PSSSH! Sit. Down.

    • @BlackMusicGenre
      @BlackMusicGenre 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Manu Ginobilis Bald Spot Man I couldn't have said it any better myself . Like you said Randy Moss depended on his physical gifts and like you also said once they eroded he wasn't much of a factor . You can't run deep routes and out run DBs for 15 to 20 years because the league is getting younger and faster every year . The greatest in every sport understood that their gifts wouldn't be the same as time went on and they would have to rely on their knowledge of their respected sport and the remaining ability they had left to be productive at the twilight of their careers . Michael Jordan and Jerry Rice understood this . Randy Moss apparently didn't receive the memorandum .

      G-_-Destroya that’s cause you don’t know enough about Jerry, my dude. I get it, those other guys are huge. But Rice’s routes made Moss’s and Johnson’s look pedestrian by comparison. Childlike, even. Moss was great because he would make catches even when he wasn’t open. Jerry didn’t need that skill nearly as much even though he still had it. Guys could not guard him off the line, and this is back in the day where DBs were allowed to absolutely mug the WR. Jerry Rice, 1 on 1 with today’s rules? Absolute nightmare. Better to take your chances having Randy or Calvin climb your back for a catch than to watch 80 catching an easy one from 10 yards away because he clowned you at the line of scrimmage.

      G-_-Destroya jerry had better hands, superior route running, an innate ability to create separation, downfield blocking, durability, they started tracking YAC because of Jerry. He turned 10 yard slants into 50 yards and a TD. Not to mention his durability and worth ethic. He was the whole package and more. Moss can outrun and out jump dudes better I would say but he was not more complete. Rice played his best in the biggest games where Randy did not. He got flat out embarrassed by Jason Sehorn in the 2000 NFC championship game. Jerry never disappeared when it mattered most and Moss also took plays off. This isn’t an argument at all

    If this were a video game, maybe Moss is better, but in real life, no way. You can’t quit on your team like Moss did with the Raiders, and call yourself the best ever. You can’t be in the prime of your career and have two different teams trade you because you’re such a problem off the field or in the locker room, that they feel they’re better off without you, and still call yourself the best. Is Randy more physically gifted? Yes. Did Randy do everything he possibly could to make himself and his team better every time he stepped on the field, in the weight room, or in the film room? Nope! He’s no different than other great talents like Antonio Brown, and OBJ. They can certainly put up big numbers in the box score, but none of them are winners.
