The crazy thing about hearing the phrase “Mossed” was that when you said it...you knew it fit so perfect. There wasn’t no social media to catch on to that phrase in mass amounts. But I bet many people found it seamless to say that phrase and without having any previous reference to hearing it before. You got “MOSSED” just came out naturally! Granted, football is a team sport and neither man won or lost any of those games by himself. In those 10 games, Rice had 60 catches for 1,051 yards and 11 touchdowns. Sanders had 4 interceptions. Rice was not really slowed down by Sanders. Considering these numbers, I do not agree that Sanders owned Rice. I would say that Rice won most of the time. Sanders agrees with me. I appreciate when people admit to having an impression before knowing someone and meeting them and having that shift. It speaks to seeing someone as a human and engaging each other over just listening to media or digesting images of a person in their element in competition. These athletes put so much work in and the discipline it takes to prep and not fail prior to getting to this level or just getting through college is incredible.

Randy could adjust on the ball like nobody I've ever seen before or since. Takes off like a rocket for a long ball defensive back in chase. Then he slows down a bit and turns a little to catch it and the DB turns around too. Then Moss turns on the jets again and makes a fingertips catch in stride and strolls down to the endzone as the DB trips over his own feet. The announcers say "what a perfectly thrown ball !" But we all knew that play was ALL Randy. Some QB's make their receivers look good. But Randy made his QB's look good.

Moss had as good of a work ethic as anyone else. Varying route speed throughout the game is something every deep threat does to help set up defenders. It is not loading. You must mean "Can you imagine if he had Jerry Rice's QUARTERBACKS for his 1st 9 season?"

How about this one....imagine if he was on the patriots with Beicheck and Brady his whole career. Or imagine if he had a duel threat QB mobile/ thrower...like Michael Vick, Russel Wilson, Lamar jackson, etc. Or imagine if he was on a good team with a elite running back (that also opens up the passing). Moss, for many years, didn't have any of the above so imagine if he did for his whole career......his stats would be untouchable. He'd hace video game stats, literally.

@@patrickr2691 great point...especially the qbs. Rice's qbs were first ballet HOFers (49res). He never had mediocre or garbage QBs.....that was only when he left the 49ers and was garbage.
And lets also not forget rices STICKUM!!! Moss didnt have rices ILLEGAL STICKUM!!!!! And STILL showed to be far better...by far.
The same goes for today's WR's whos gloves are LITERALLY like better more effective versions of the old stickum, which is why they (even mediocre players) are getting 1 hand catches. All the way down to HS players....constant 1 hand catches now. We never saw this before.....its because of Stickum 2.0 / Stickum 2020 ...the gloves (which should be banned, its disgusting).

@@DrMathOfficial Joe Montana was the only Qb to be Elite without Jerry Rice. Jerry Rice Made guys like Jeff Garcia, Jeff Kemp, And Steve Bono look good. Steve Young was basically a bust until he started playing with the 49ers. When Steve Young Retired he had the highest passer rating at that time (96.8), led the league in completion percentage and yards per attempt 5 times, led the league in passer rating 6 times, and had a superbowl win and that was because of Jerry Rice. He made Steve Young’s career.
Jerry Rice has proven to still put up numbers without Joe Montana and Steve Young under center. In those 3 years with the raiders, two of those seasons Jerry Rice had over 1000 yards receiving and had Rich Gannon as his QB and he also helped the Raiders go to a Super Bowl.
Randy Moss might not have had Steve Young or Joe Montana throwing to him but he also had good QBs too. Out of the 5 QBs he played with 4 of the them were pro bowlers before playing with Moss and 3 of them made the pro bowl with him. The only QB to make a pro bowl with Randy Moss and not make the pro bowl without him was Daunte Culpepper.
Randy Moss is one of the best receivers of all time no doubt, but Jerry Rice is better because of his work ethic. Jerry Rice has proven that you don’t need to be the biggest ,strongest, or fastest guy on the field to dominate. If Randy Moss had the work ethic Jerry Rice had he probably would’ve been the greatest receiver of all time.

@@InvestBetter. Truly a fan's perspective and memory. I'm not surprised. I don't remember Kellen Winslow ever dropping a pass in the 80s either. :)
But top DBs with the lowest passer ratings allowed when targeted still allow about a 50% completion rate. These following stats in no way completely cover a DB's effectiveness, but in his entire career, Revis averaged only about 3 INTs per season and deflected less than one ball per game.
And I bet that, as a fan, you remember every one of them. Again, not unusual.
      Take care.

@@cobbler88 Judging Revis on INTs is like judging the Mona Lisa on pixels. No one threw his way. They were afraid of him, so he didn't generate big stats. he did change offenses, and he led the lowly Jets to two AFC Championship Games. The best defender in team history and an Easy first ballot Hall of Famer

@@InvestBetter. So according to your logic, the fewer INTs and passes defended, the better a DB must be. And that my assertion that there has never been a shut-down corner is false despite me actually putting evidence out there because you choose to not believe it to be true ... and you believe that is an actual argument.
I'll just leave you to your unsophisticated consumption of the game. There's clearly no meat on the bone to be had here. Maybe next time just sit quietly at the folding table in the corner when the adults are talking.
      Take care.

@@taharqa332 Not true. There's even inconsistency in what you're witing. As I've written before, there's never been a shut-down corner, and never will be. The very nature of the game prevents it.

@@abcall-timesboxingchanneln7076 I mean, I recall it pretty clear. People hear tales of an era before their time from the previous generation of fanboys.
There is great value in taking the No. 2 out of the game, but that's not good enough for a fanboy who honestly believes that any defensive player in a position based almost entirely on reaction is going to lock down a true No. 1 in single coverage.
And I'm not talking the garbage No.1s we're being told the NFL is full of now. At any given time, there are less than a half dozen legit No. 1 receivers. The rest are really good No. 2s filling a slot.

When I was young and we played Moss at recess I would always think it was because of Santana Moss, who played for the Redskins at the time and I was from the DC/MD area. It wasn't until I got to college that I realized it was Randy all along. The man literally changed the game.
