Boris Johnson resigns - who will replace him?

Boris Johnson will continue as Prime Minister until a new Tory leader is elected - and that is still causing outrage from serving ministers to the former Prime Minister John Major.
Labour said it will call a vote of confidence in the government to try to force him out immediately.
But most Conservative MPs' attention has turned to who will be the next Prime Minister.
A series of people most voters have barely heard of are jockeying for position - as the party grandees decide how the leadership election will work and how long it will take.

Jacob Rees-Mogg is the only MP left who has supported Boris Johnson from the very time he nominated Boris Johnson for the leadership of the Conservative and PM, right until now.
I used to respect Moggy, but the way he has always defended Boris, no matter what Boris has done - and excused him, and even he said in a previous interview, "Of course, the Prime always tells the truth".
NOW I UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE CALL JACOB REES-MOGG, MP for North Devon and the 19th Century.

The 2 comments here meanwhile are what you would expect on Channel 4 fake news. These are the comments of the looney left and liberal idiots who who moan. away at Jacob, one of the few popular and real conservatives left in Parliament. This country is socially and morally bankrupt, and that's down to the liberal idiots who think there are more than 2 genders, and they think it's ok for 2 men to get married. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 What a bunch of leftie tossers.

Our society pretty much fast tracks them across the political and corporate worlds. @@Armed-Forever Agree re the Lords and our FPTP system national means distribution of power by parties is distorted and produces what has been memorably described as “elective dictatorship”, but the US system has its own drawbacks (designed on an 18th c model more focussed on dissipating power than on effective government) and simply wouldn’t work in anything other than a federal state. Possibly the best model and most democratic, designed partly by American and British constitutional lawyers and designed for the modern world , is Germany - worth checking if you don’t know it.
