We thousands upon thousands in the Philippines agree…..no spewing of anything personal…it is all about their brand of music that sounds enduring and endearing….
Met Neil Tennant in a record company press office when he worked for the old pop mag, Smash Hits. I remember him saying he’d formed a band. I was thinking, “Oh yeah, you, me, and every other wannabe. “What’s it called?” He said “The Pet Shop Boys.” And I’m thinking, yeah that’ll work. 🙄 But he made it happen, wrote some great songs, and is still going strong decades later. Hats off to him. 👍
So true. An interview with them encompasses great music, a laugh, and a history lesson all in one. I feel smarter after hearing a chat with Mr. Tennant. Such a literate and brainy fellow, and terrific songwriter to boot.
They are simply the best. Neil and Chris are just genius. Their sound is totally unique, it’s the chord progressions as Neil said and the great melodies they construct. Huge fan for 40 years. Thanks for posting.
Always amazing, innovative and "Never being boring"...I was lucky enough to see them when I was in the UK 1999...I wish you many more fabulous years! Thank you for all the songs I could make memories to in my life, you are an integral part....
The Petshop Boys were at record signing party at a Tower Records in Hollywood. I bought a vinyl version of West End Girls just to have them sign it. Great guys!
Chris' vocal on Paninaro, which he calls minor, happens to be one of my favourite ever PSB moments. Especially the '95 re-record where he sounds so passionate 🥰
Oh yes! And then there's "One of the crowd", "We all feel better in the dark", "Lies" and "Decide"! And a bit in "This used to be the future". Chris doing vocals is quite a b-side thing. Actually most of my favourite PSB tracks are b-sides. They are so great in writing these three categories: Singles, album tracks and b-sides. Writing b-sides is very clever both in an artistic and the commercial perspective! And a great treat for us fans! 😊
These two have endured and continued to remain relevant for so long now that they've really entered the very upper echelons of all-time great pop bands. I can't think of but a handful of ahead of them, if that. And Love Is A Bourgeois Construct gets my vote for Pop Song of the 2010's.
It's amazing to see the Pet Shop Boys smiling. I thought they were always serious and even moody, with a touch of pedantic intellectuals, especially Chris, who I think has never shown his face.
Great they are.. Wonderful melodies and witty lyrics. They are part of my long life Music Background. And the latest album is well-crafted. Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉
Now this is a good interview ! These interviewers actually knew what they were talking about. Which helped Chris and Neil engage much more. Loved it. Better than that BBC Live night with that Nuffy interviewer. What a disappointment he was !
They're such oddballs! Neil presents himself as the perfect British gentleman, but underneath the surface, there's a very naughty boy, indeed. And Chris, although comatose in public, is a total troll whenever asked to speak! I remember watching Pet Shop Boys' video collection DVD about 20 years ago with the audio commentary on, and Chris' comments repeatedly made me spit my drink. He's a FUNNY man! Anyway, the new song, from what little was heard in this video, sounds very reminiscent of "Domino Dancing". Nice!
That's a cool expression freedom through creativity. Amazing The Pet Shop Boys Neil and Chris still sound very young in their live performances and of course recorded. What strange happenings they have experienced.
Very nice interview. I love their new album a little different not so much dance music but still a fantastic album. I've been a fan since the beginning and absolutely love all their songs. Their music has stood the test of time .They are as good now as they were in the beginning perhaps a little better.
I can tell when Chris is nervous interviews he seems OK in this one but when they were on with Jonathan Ross for an interview after it finished he couldn't get off quick enough.. Bless him ❤Chris too bits bless him
No tragedies, no scandal, no break ups - respect how they kept themselves grounded and honest all these years
We thousands upon thousands in the Philippines agree…..no spewing of anything personal…it is all about their brand of music that sounds enduring and endearing….
That we know of. All we know is they could've paid a lot of money to keep things away from the public. We don't know if there's any drama or not.
@@stayfrostypatrick the truth will out ... heard nothing tbh
The Pet Shop Boys’ whole style was too gay for many to really care much.
@@RocStarr913 how do you know that?

Me too! 53 yrs here.
I loved PSB right from their first album when I was 11 years old. 48 now and have mad respect for them ❤
Since I was 14. I’m 53 now. ❤
This small chat is glimpse into why they've both remained this long in the industry.
Both down to earth, respectful.
So true. An interview with them encompasses great music, a laugh, and a history lesson all in one. I feel smarter after hearing a chat with Mr. Tennant. Such a literate and brainy fellow, and terrific songwriter to boot.
That is not how people become successful in the entertainment industry lmao
Perhaps one of their best telly interviews. Thanks for posting.
Still amazing, relevant and simply fabulous. As professional musicians as they come. Pure gold!!
you are sooo right
Pet shop boys have blazed a trail for decades. Remember buying the please album on the first release and never looked back
My sentiments too.
Lovely interview! Thank you. I think this is the most happy and engaged I’ve seen Chris in interviews
I was thinking the same exact thing!
Chris just doesn’t like celebrity bullshit - he finds it embarrassing. Speak to him like a human and he comes out of his shell.
They are simply the best. Neil and Chris are just genius. Their sound is totally unique, it’s the chord progressions as Neil said and the great melodies they construct. Huge fan for 40 years. Thanks for posting.
These guys are legends... been a fan since the 80's this new album is definitely a Breath of Fresh Air.. 2024. Please continue to create more music...
Here we have been since 1985 listening to this duo. Regards from Brazil.
I've loved the Pet Shop Boys' music since I was a young kid, I'm now 43. Much love from New Zealand 💗
Me too from NZ, and 49!
They have never compromised. I truly respect this.
Loved the pet shop boys since they started, especially their work with Dusty, who was our favourite artist of the 60s. Thanks boys❤❤

They definitely have mellowed out in their old age. It’s nice to see.

They were different to all the rest . English & eccentric. I love these boys so much ❤
Too gay for America after the 1980’s.
Brilliant stuff! As a fellow alumni, I love hearing about Chris' time at Liverpool Uni. Thanks for posting.
I love these guys! They're always brilliant.
Lovely new record and lovely interview, all the best to the Boys.
I love them so much! Been a fan since their first hit "West End Girls" here in America. Haven't seen many interviews with them. They are so much fun!
Great interview boys, love and respect, great new album xx, love u always.❤ forever.x
In my opinion It's the best work they've done in years. Some really cracking songs.
One of the coolest 80s sounds: PSB.
DM, PSB and Erasure.
…and New Order…and remember Electronic? (Getting Away With It - with Neil Tennant) peak best 80’s electro.
They have always made a difference to my life ❤
❤brilliant interview from my guys
Great band!
❤😊Wir sind seit 34.Jahren Pet Shop Boys Fan und werden es immer bleiben ❤😊
Chris seems like a Morning guy :D He seemed more chatter than other interviews :D What lovely guys ;) PSB4Ever;)
Maybe he just hadn't been to bed yet.
Neil isn't a perfect singer and he knows that. He has a characteristic voice and that makes him stay to earth.
He knows how to make his limited vocal range work for him and the music.
Any vocalist would give their eye reeth to have such an unique and instantly recognisable sound. Granted, it's not bel canto, but he is a genius.
Neil have magical voice nobody can have ❤❤

I saw them at the Isle of Wight a couple of weeks back and they do a pretty seamless transition from Domino Dancing into Dancing Star
“Domino Dancing” absolutely killed their mainstream popularity in America.
That's a cool expression freedom through creativity. Amazing The Pet Shop Boys Neil and Chris still sound very young in their live performances and of course recorded. What strange happenings they have experienced.
私は17歳からずっとファンです。彼らが日本でコンサートに来た時、コンサート会場の外で2人に偶然に会い写真をとりました。今も大切に写真を保管してます。ずっとこれからもずっとファンです。とても素敵な2人です。
No way can a man of 70 have the same voice as 40 years ago. Alot of smoke and daggers in their live performances. Am a fan........
Evergreen pop legends!!!!!
Two stars ,my loves for ever wonderful, with love from Italy.💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘
I have aways liked The Pet Shop Boys, there music is happy and upbeat, music you can tap your feet to and clap to.
The Best! Can't wait to see you tomorrow!
I admire them so much
just picked up the high resolution Blu-ray audio🙌🏼
Well done :)
I just did too. You get a bit of Loneliness instrumental on the intro screen. I'd love to hear all the instrumentals
Chris and Neil are starting to look like each other!!

I knew Chris has the music on a screen to play off of bit i didnt know he needed the words to Paninaro 😂
Food, cars, travel 😂
Come back to do shows in Japan! It's been 5 long agonizing years! I need my PSB fix, NOW!
I think Chris also performs vocals on “Time on my hands”.
Rare to watch Lowe talking. He is so introspective!!
Chris has such a pleasant speaking voice!
I went to the first two ROH shows they did in 2016 and 2018 but missed out this time
Must be all the Swifties descending lol.

Buster Keaton/ Anna Wintour laughing? I love the new album.

Its remarkable and enchanting to see Chris L. getting sort of jolly (not Basil Fawlty type of happy😅) as he ages...
Legends
Chris doesn’t say much but he’s a funny guy when he speaks.
Incredible duo. This new album is amongst the best things they've ever done.
Fuck Neil is fairly ageing now isn't he. Still a legend love you guys ❤
