In all fairness, he's only singing the parts that anyone can sing. Anything out of his range are handled by backup vocals. That's very common with aging vocalists as vocal chords dry out and get tight. They can still hit the notes but not project them on a live stage. Again, it's not just him, it's a normal part of aging vocal chords. Once warmed up he pushes a bit more but song selection is key as he needs to work up to the more challenging work.
At 65, Jim has the same wonderful voice he once had. I remember my first New Gold Dream vinyl with which I was delighted and since then I have always listened to and seen them live several times. Jim has always been my idol! ❤👑🎤🎶

The gift that keeps on giving. Jim Kerr and his ability to rouse a crowd with their still utterly magical songs will never ever get old. What a band, what a performance and a set list that just makes you feel good to be alive. Bravo Simple Minds and Bravo the Isle of White festival.
Simple Minds to me is one of the greatest bands of all time. I turn 64 this year and an Australian. I totally love seeing the younger ones keeping the music alive and really getting into the atmosphere which must bring joy to the band. An absolute well filmed concert.👍🇦🇺☮️

We had great bands that should have been bigger like Mi Sex and Skyhooks and a NZ band called Dragon to name a few. Icehouse was phenomenal. INXS were amazing from the word go. Found Trevor Horn on TH-cam and he did a great concert in 2004 and check it out. Grace Jones, ABC, Art Of Noise and unbelievable Frankie Goes To Hollywood. Can’t stop watching it. Loved the 80s and it style and influence. Sending heaps of respect from Melbourne Australia.👍
Simple Minds WERE an excellent band but the rave/ baggy scene killed them. Us young fans just upped and left. The minds music no longer meant anything to us especially after that god awful SFY.

Cherisse Osei is a monster drummer for sure. Back in the day though, Mel Gaynor was a drumming hero to me. ‘Don’t You Forget About Me’ is one of the greatest drum grooves ever captured on record. I had a poster of him on one of the walls in my drum room for Premier Drums. What a great time to have been alive.
Live I've seen ACDC, Eric Clapton, Guns n Roses, Genesis, Yes, Peter Gabriel, Roger Waters too name a few. Simple Minds were truly amazing Live. There's a real positive energy that you feel off Jim and the band. If you haven't seen them live please do.
I've seen ac dc bad company 3 times the who twice eagles twice the waterboys tina turner and the great simple minds in sheffield mott the hoople with queen supporting and nazareth in glasgow and Rod twice in Birmingham check out simple minds in Berlin great gig as well
I saw Simple Minds in Vancouver many years ago. They were excellent live. Their double live album in the City of Lights was one of the best live albums I've ever heard. Good to see them still Alive and Kicking!!!

I am almost 64. I was resident dj in Tiffany's, Edinburgh (Mecca). Monday nights were live music night, Regular Music promoted those nights. The dj box was on the stage, I saw Simple Minds, I think 4 times there from only a few feet away. They were awesome every performance. That was a long time ago, pre Virgin Records deal days.
I have seen Simple Minds so many times, and have yet to see a better group live. Masters of their trade. I get very emotional every time I see them as it brings back memories of my late brother who passed away 20 years ago, he was a super fan, he went everywhere to see them. Seeing them for the first time together with him at Milton Keynes bowl (one of many) on a scorching hot day in 1986 is a memory I will cherish forever ❤️

Loss of someone close, a family member is so hard to deal with, and it's sad to hear of yours. I have often struggled with listening to some music that takes the emotions back to earlier days when the loss didn't exist. Your brother certainly sounds like he was a devoted fan of a band that has given so many great live performances through the years, which no doubt he enjoyed hugely. You must have lots of fond memories to cherish.
I was at the IOW festival watching this gig and I completely agree with them being Masters of their trade! Such an awesome performance with the sun setting! Loved it!
I never get tired of Simple Minds. My first concert was Simple Minds in 1985 in Valby, just outside Copenhagen. I was 15 Years old. My first record was Simple Minds New Gold Dream. Simple Minds was bigger than U2 until U2 did The Joshua Tree album.
Haha Jim always makes me laugh with his cool dude act... they are definitely at their best live, but believe me they are over loud inside a venue, (deafening), outside is perfect!!! Love their drummer, she's mega cool. I just love them, always have, Scottish and proud, nobody makes music like we do.
When the crowd know the words and sings along with you while you’re on stage, has to be one of the greatest feelings as an artist. Has to be an incredible feeling for these guys. 🤘

Charlie has to be one of the most underrated guitarists of all time. He's a powerhouse who's sound has defined SM over the decades.
For me it was always Mark Knopfler (Dire Straights), David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), and Charlie Burchill (Simple Minds). All great guitarists.
Charlie is one of the ten best guitarists on this planet. It is obvious.
