It's not just competitive, it's blowing the doors off. Wait until the new Taco reveals all of ITS engine troubles that are now plaguing the new Tundra. However, Nissan has had a lot more trouble with a lot more models for a lot longer and the only reason this one Nissan model is now a better choice than the Tacoma is because the Taco fell on it's face with the engine mistake and the crazy price hikes. Take the win and stay the course and fix all of your other models woes!

My 2015 Frontier with 90,000 miles on it has been trouble free and has never visited the dealer since I have owned it. It is a King Cab with the 6-foot bed and a color matching camper top. I use it every day driving between two of my work record centers daily sometimes hauling fifty banker boxes, This is the second Frontier that I have owned.
Its reviews like this of long term owners that is getting me over to a Frontier too. I have a Nissan Sentra, 2010 model with 180k miles and its still doing well
This is the best truck in the mid-size segment. Frontier has always been a great truck since its introduction in 1998. Ihad a 1998 with the 2.4L 4cyl and 4-speed automatic. Still ran like new when I sold it at 127k miles. No doubt that truck would have lasted another 100k miles. My Dad bought a 2003 Frontier with the supercharged 3.3L V6. He bought it with 73k and sold it with 177k. The only issue in all that time was the blower motor died. While Tacoma gets all the attention, the Frontier is a hidden gem for less money.
I'm a die hard F-150 fan and own one now. I drove a 24 Frontier and was very impressed. Decent ride and a great size that is not gigantic. Definitely considering one in the future.

Folks are flocking to the Frontier because it's one of the few NON TURBO left. Turbos wear out and won't last. I'd get a Frontier any day over a turbo Taco or anything else
I would like to see a bigger back seat for leg room but also a 6 ft box.

I drive for a Toyota dealership and we often bring back Nissan Frontiers from the Mannheim Auctions. I can tell you that these are nice trucks and they don’t stay on the lot more than two weeks. My Silverado may be going down the road for a frontier .
My 2011 frontier with 120k been running fine since I bought it in 2012.
I have got as high as 24 mpg with my 2022 titan on a 2 hour all highway trip. I think staying away from the turbo is a good move.
Idk why Nissan gets shit on all the time, I personally have never owned one but Ik people that do and my sister as well and they’ve never had an issue and have been very reliable… however I’m not a fan of the changes made with most manufacturers going to hybrids and 4 cylinders with turbos…
I had a 2005 Nissan frontier. 215,000 miles. Rebuilt my entire house with that truck. Just a great vehicle.
Nissan's Jatco CVT Transmissions have been through lawsuit after lawsuit since the early 2000's and continue to be an issue. They regularly fail before 80k miles, and Nissan has been forced to offer extended warranties and free tranny replacements. I had a 2014 Altima, loved that car and did all the maintenance including CVT Services. Mine conked out at 78,000 Miles right about when they go out despite my regular maintenance. I really enjoyed that car, nearly 40mpg on the Highway and quite comfortable and durable for a sedan.
No joke the Transmission Shop I went to got on the phone when I arrived to the local Nissan Dealership. "Hey such and such, yeah it's me again I got another Altima you have any Transmission still on the lot... Ok good I'll pick it up this afternoon." Literally the Dealership had replacement Transmissions sitting on the lot waiting for cars to need them.
All that said, if I were to buy a bran new pickup truck in 2024 or 2025 it would be the Frontier. Toyota is reeling hard from the new Tacoma, they are piling up on Dealer's Lots as the traditional Tacoma buyers are not happy with a turbo 4 and the price hikes across the model ranges.
People hate them because at one point they made awesome cars, then they pivoted and made ugly shit cars for the longest. I’m glad they’re turning it around. I owned a 2005 350z brand new and to this day it was my favorite
I had an ‘88 and a ‘95 4x4 hardbody. Put over 200k miles on both. Ran like a top when I sold them. Regular maintenance was all. I recall a turn signal switch wearing out and a A/C fan motor rectifier replacement, but that’s it. Wish I still had both.

I bought a 2002 Frontier new and kept it until 2016. Had 260k miles when I traded it for a full size GMC. Truck was bullet proof. 17 mpg wasn’t what I was hoping for but I enjoyed it just the same. Thinking about going back to a midsize and it’s definitely on the list.
As a buyer, I went in with the attitude that (since it's a truck), the gas mileage is going to suck/stink - and I'm okay with that. No real truck capable of work is going to get "good gas mileage". My 2009 4.0L 4WD (manual) has just rolled over a mere 80k miles. I hope to keep it another decade or until I leave the planet.
Needs a telescoping steering wheel too!!!!!
The telescoping wheel is One of the few things my 2022 Frontier is missing. And the handle on the drivers A pillar needed to help get in the high drivers seat if you are 5ft 8 or shorter. No idea why Nissan cheaped out on those two things.

I love Nissan Frontier because they still stick to their old school design while others trucks has downgrading with forced induction to minimize fuel consumption and maximize power.

I owned nissan for 13 years and i have to be honest in evaluation them , i think they are the only company that still make reliable cars in nowadays
I bought a 2022 SV RWD with the Tech and convenience packages that was languishing in a north central Pennsylvania dealership lobby for about 6 months, LOL. I'm in southeastern PA, so I don't care about AWD (it hardly ever snows, and if it does, I have a winter-tired beater to get to work). I bought it to tow and do light truck things. I've pleasantly been surprised at the comfort and reasonable fuel economy (up to 27.3 on highway on one trip), even though the city mileage is less than advertised (I get 13 to 17 in stop and go). All for $37k out the door.
It's an honest truck.

I had 2013 xterra with the v6 and that thing ran forever with little issue it had 370 k on it when I sold it and still running well
I was leasing a 21 pro4x and bought it even though it was black and was the last year before they remodeled it and even after 30000 miles they had to put a new engine in it! I just liked it to much! The only things I wished it had was telescoping steering wheel, button for the rear sliding window, maybe a full moonroof even though it has a regular one, and maybe a step up kickstand in the back to get in the bed! But it has enough tech but not too much!
Looks like Nissan is FINALLY learning what the customers really want! I LOVE my new 2023 Pathfinder as well. What an upgrade from my old 2017 SV to this Platinum! Much better transmission too.
Toyota is not selling Tacomas at the rate they were expecting. Is it because there is no v6 option?

I've been eyeing the pick-up truck market for about 4 years now and I continue to grow frustrated. I'm liking what I hear more about Nissan truck's powertrain and value. I'm not sold at all on these 4 banger turbos. One of my cars is a 4 cylinder turbo and I've had no problems with it but it is a manual sports car and not a heavier automatic truck.
I was disappointed that the Taco got rid of their tried and true 6 cylinder engine.
Reviewers said this wasn't a competitor, I've a good amount of trails. This truck goes!!!

You didn’t mention anything new for the 2025 except the additional clearance to match other off road brands.
Higher resolution cameras and safety features like lane departure, adaptive cruise control.

My 2017 Tacoma TRD Off road with 80k miles NA V6 never had any issues except a new battery
Nissan cars with CVTS suck but their trucks have always been solid. We'll maybe not Cummins titan
We have 156,000 miles on our 2007 Nissan Sentra 2.0 s with CVT. I have done drain and fills on the CVT every 30k. Just put a new set of tires on her and plan on hitting 200k. No issues with the cvt at all here.
The Ranger XLT and Lariat trims will also offer an optional 2.7L V6 available this summer!
Hopefully they fix the heavy steering. I was about to pull the trigger on one. But after test driving one, that was a deal breaker, but really liked everything else.
Once I put the leveling kit on that went away.

I wish they would keep the current face and just upgrade the interior. I really love how the truck looks right now but the interior does feel 2015 ish.

As far as I'm concered, this is the ONLY midsized truck worth buying right now. I just went through truck shopping and landed on getting a Frontier and love it. Toyota is having major issues with their new engines and build quality plus their markups are ridiculous, GMs and Fords just have issues in general, and the Ridgline is a disappointment albeit dependable for the most part. Couple that with the real world fuel economy of these 4cyl turbos being less than 20mpg, the Frontier even beats them on that front. I average 21.5mpg even when hauling stuff, my friends have a Ranger and a Colorado and neither can break 19 mpg even unloaded, those 4 cyl engines have to always be working hard to move the truck.
The Ridgeline price is almost full sizer territory, and it's not even a truck!
This is a chance for Nissan to steal some market share. And I hope they do

Us truck guys look at power train first and foremost. Nobody wants a turbo charged 4 banger or 6cyl in their truck. This is where the other makers have made a major mistake. The frontier has enough new tech to make it nice to use, but keeps a lot of tried and true tech to keep it simple. Nissan has a real opportunity here to take a huge chunk of the mid size truck market.
They still don’t have an adjustable steering wheel it tilts it does not extend in or out
Nissan is killing off the Titan. They got some room to improve space and make it class leading. Offer two HP versions of the six to better compete and you are good to go.
I think they could offer another version, say, with a smaller 4 cylinder engine that would get around 200 HP and better gas prices.
Not buyin the 18-24 mpg numbers. Saw a video here on a 2022 with the same engine/tranny, and it struggled to get 22 on the open road. I'm betting it gets 16-17 city and 22 road. My 2018? I get 16mpg around town. They are however bulletproof trucks!
Some of the listed changes are already on the 2024 Pro 4x.
Ranger will come with another v6 turbo option for lower trims.

That’s not 100% true. The ranger xlt and lariat can get the v6 turbo. The raptor gets a different v6 engine.

Manufactures list base model prices to lure you in the door. When you show up at the dealer those trims are NO WHERE and impossible to find on any lot. The old swicharoo.

Nissan needs to get rid of hydraulic steering. Combined with the turning radius of the Queen Mary, it takes some man handling to operate in tight quarters.
Nice if they finally added atleast 5 degrees more recline position on the rear seats, which are maybe the worst in this in the segment

@@LucidDreamer54321 NO, but it's too straight for comfort for any kind of a road trip. many will use a crew cab as a fam. vehicle as well, or if a longer drive with your crew to a site. My stepson borrowed my 15 and 3.5-4 trip to camp site, they were all anxious to get out and stretch, etc.. my nephew has 23 model and after 3 hr trip with his in-laws in the back, they weren't so pleased, as he told me in a chat and he wished it was a bit more angled for more natural and comfy position.. you're just a troll. it's a legi issue.. others have a bit more angle. now crew cab has sub angle on the backrest, but some are a bit more reasonable !!

Turbo gas engines engines offer lots of torque at low RPM and are best driven like a diesel, surfing the low RPM torque and not using the higher rev horsepower if after fuel economy. Boost also effectively "enlarges" the size of the engine for purpose of power and fuel consumption, as more air and fuel are forced into the cylinder. For example, GM's 2.7 4 cylinder maxes out at a healthy 22 PSI, effectively making it equivalent to a 5.4 liter naturally aspirated engine at full power. There is no free lunch of course, energy to move a load results in similar fuel consumption whether an engine is naturally aspirated or smaller and has forced induction.
There is a good argument to prefer the simplicity of Nissan's larger naturally aspirated engine from a reliability standpoint. In 15 years it likely is going to fare better than it's forced induction competition. Turbo engines are fun AF to drive though, so there is that.
Being able t order a Nissan with a Crew Cab and a 73" bed is awesome. Aside from the Toyota, Nissan is the only mid sizer available with this config. Not having a crew cab and a long box in a mid size truck is a no go for me as I actually use the bed of my truck to haul stuff. I have a Canyon with the 6 foot long box and crew cab, and the format overall is the "perfect" size for me - the short boxes are just too damn small. It's not like the Nissan in the "CCLB" config is an overly huge truck either, not with all the bloated full size trucks out there. The mid size trucks narrower and lower profile is a lot easier to park and drive than a FS truck in general, even with a long box on it.
Can't get past the pink milkshake radiator failures where Nissan would rather give $300 discounts to new buyers than take care of Nissan owners with defective radiators.

I have a Frontier 2024 6ft bed and I’m having some e issues with A/C is blowing some air that is causing breathing issues and I went to the dealer they don’t believe I called Nissan and they don’t giving me a answer. I don’t like this car at all, and also loose power I don’t know I really regret
