Cats are also animals. I think I have a chart somewhere... I'm badly allergic to cats but I still stroke them when I see them . Cats are assholes, and great, and friendly or angry. They have little personalities. A cat that attacked a dog three times bigger than it is a hero. I'd still spritz it with water. BUT a hero.

I am happy and relieved to hear that Oliver wasn't hurt badly from being scratched on his back, feral cats can be unpredictable to say the least. One thing that I learned from watching this is that wind guards can make great substitute toys, also I thoroughly enjoy watching Oliver rolling in the grass . 😊
Yes, the cat was a bit of a shock, but we had a lot of fun when we went back to the park! It's so much fun watching Oliver clowning around in the park--he definitely has his own agenda when I'm trying to film him!
As someone who loves both dogs *and* cats, I'm sorry to hear about the stray cat situation in the SF Bay area. I hate it when people just dump cats (or dogs) to fend for themselves. It's cruel. I'm glad that Oliver emerged unscathed. When it's cat vs. dog, cats usually win; they really know how to administer a smackdown!

The best solution is probably just to make sure that feral cats have their own space so they don't feel threatened. We've donated to our local animal shelter and hope that they will be able to help the stray cats who live in our neighborhood.

It does make me wonder why there are so many more stray cats here than there were in Chicago. Is it about the climate here being warmer? Or is it because populations of stray cats have been growing during the pandemic? We've been supporting our local animal shelter, and I know that they work hard to help stray cats find forever homes.
