1. Came at the right moment when my brand new OnePlus got stolen at a Bus stop last week and I was just done paying the EMI last month 2. Now when I contemplate of buying a good phone or even the same phone I don't have the courage to do so - that is invest the same amount again. 3. There is no such thing as NO COST EMI. The discounts are fake and when you total it you end up paying more as the bank charges you interest and gst

I was using 10-12k phones for almost 8-9 years but their comes a time when the space is not enough..speed lags.. premium experience.. I bought nord 2 at 29k(6months no cost emi) and this has been so far the expensive phone I am using...have to say..Loving this experience..will use it for 3-4 years minimum ❤️ my old phone which I got for 9.5 k got sold for 5.5 after 2 years...use it carefully without damage 🙂

I Bought a Poco F1 for exactly 2 years Ago(Armoured variant 8+256gb for 11k after exchange).. Most of the POCO users still don't feel a need to upgrade because its just working great!! It performs day-to-day tasks seamlessly (I have a habit of formatting my device every 6Months). During the Bigbillion and amazon sale, there were a lot of tempting phones available on sale at a really good price, added them to my cart, applied bank discounts and stuff! BUT while throughout the process at the end I used to question myself, *that do I really need it?* *How much difference will it make?* Always ask this question and you will end up saving a lot most of the time.

i would like to add a little bit for no cost emi. Companies use this to increase sales in short term. As you correctly pointed out, their tenure is lower (normally 6 months). However, for an individual who has money already and wants to buy a phone, it is always better option to go for emi. As a financial analyst, you always make sure you pay as late as possible but with as much discipline as pssible (i.e proper timely payments). If you do that, you not only earn interest more in your bank account (although minimal) but also earn cashbacks from credit cards.

My personal experience: Few months ago, i was planning to buy new smartphone cost around 30k. Then one of my colleague suggested to buy 20k phone & invest remaining 10k in health insurance. Firstly, I thought I am fit & fine ,why should I give money which will never come back to me. Then after doing some research, I INVESTED in health insurance that is 1 CR policy. After few months I got really sick and had to hospitalized. Hospital bill was in LAKHS as I was there for more than a month & only health test checkups costs around 20k. But SAVED by health insurance otherwise all of my savings will be gone.

Few expierences I had having midbudget phone in the past. 1) midbudget phones doesnt have a good camera 2) Poor battery that makes you irritated all day to recharge twice or thrice. 3) zero resale value 4) If you drop the phone then be prepare to buy new phone as build quality is poor. 5) 20000 doesnt have good refresh rate plus heating issues are always a big problems in mid range phones. 6) midrange phones mostly hangs a lot when you do heavy tasking.
The main reason I buy relatively expensive phones is because I want to have good performance and software support for 4-5 years, phones under 20k barely gives 1 year support and it’s because those companies make so many phones that they can’t make updates for them all. I wouldn’t recommend people to buy the really expensive ones like iPhone 12 Pro Max or the S21 Ultra if they aren’t using it for their business. Also there is less regret if you buy something like an iPhone because even and iPhone X user will feel like their purchase was worth it seeing the latest iPhone, budget phones get released every month and they usually have a good feature being added because of which you begin regretting after a year itself
Yup im feeling same.. i used a 15k chinse phn and i cud barely use it for 2 yrs. but whereas iphone 11 or 12 or samsung s20 fe… which cud be easily used for 4-5 yrs + they have very good resale value and experience… I would never suggest buying flashing iphone 12 pro max or s21 ultra they are money draining and bad choices….

And one more advice to people who want to experience flagships.. Buying a refurbished or used flagship from the previous year saves a ton of money, because that's when most of the monetary depreciation happens, and with smartphone spec upgrades becoming more and more incremental, spending half the money to lose out on barely one or two key features, is absolutely worth it..

Emi is good when you are buying phone in your range but if you go out of budget let's say you bought iphone 12 for emi but your budget is 20k and after few months you broke the screen and that screen is costing you 25k and for sure you can't afford 25k just for screen that's how you end up decreasing your experience
Phone has become a symbol of status. I know mid range, cheap phones are enough to deliver 90% of the need. But, a premium phone tells you are successful/rich (or both) 🤑 without you uttering a word. That's why Apple can price them so high and we still buy them.

For this reason and for the previous video, I never go above 15k for a new mobile phone, because I realized after using a lot of mobile phones that I won't use any of those for more than 3 years. So now I consider this while purchasing a new phone and limit my budget that I feel is enough for 3 years. Problem is most people when buy expensive mobiles are very ignorant and they assume that everything lasts forever including their dear, precious half bit apple devices. I got my iPhone 11 + Airpods for 54,999/- INR after working for 6 months and saving every penny of it. Invested 5k a month in the form of an SIP irrespective of my expenses or wants. Paid off my phone in just 3 months, and I felt amazing. I have never felt like I have bought a phone when I buy it on EMI, hence I try to pay it off in the least amount of time possible. Now that I work in a much better place with a better salary, I feel that I need to have an expensive phone in order to fit in with the crowd, its not college anymore where I could use a phone with a broken screen. I use an android phone. I bought it in early 2017 and it works well; clean user experience. I am very happy with it. I bought a 12-13K Samsung phone for my secretary in 2020 and when she was on leave I had it for a few days. I was shocked with the amount of unnecessary notifications, nagwares and bloatwares. The job I have, I am practically on call and that Samsung phone completely ruined my peace of mind. For my next work phone I am going to buy a Nokia/Motorola because I value my secretary's quality of life. For me a phone is a necessary tool for personal and work life. I have used androids, iPhone and Blackberrys. Even though people will think I am weird but Blackberrys with enterprise solutions provided by my employer from 2006-14 are my best mobile phone experience!
I have a good galaxy A52s 5G phone. During this summer sale, I got tempted to go for Xiaomi 12 pro seeing that you get 8k discount, but I always stopped after adding it to cart. Few expierences I had having midbudget phone in the past.
1) midbudget phones doesnt have a good camera
2) Poor battery that makes you irritated all day to recharge twice or thrice.
3) zero resale value
4) If you drop the phone then be prepare to buy new phone as build quality is poor.
5) 20000 doesnt have good refresh rate plus heating issues are always a big problems in mid range phones.
6) midrange phones mostly hangs a lot when you do heavy tasking.

The main reason I buy relatively expensive phones is because I want to have good performance and software support for 4-5 years, phones under 20k barely gives 1 year support and it’s because those companies make so many phones that they can’t make updates for them all. I wouldn’t recommend people to buy the really expensive ones like iPhone 12 Pro Max or the S21 Ultra if they aren’t using it for their business. Also there is less regret if you buy something like an iPhone because even and iPhone X user will feel like their purchase was worth it seeing the latest iPhone, budget phones get released every month and they usually have a good feature being added because of which you begin regretting after a year itself
Yup im feeling same.. i used a 15k chinse phn and i cud barely use it for 2 yrs. but whereas iphone 11 or 12 or samsung s20 fe… which cud be easily used for 4-5 yrs + they have very good resale value and experience… I would never suggest buying flashing iphone 12 pro max or s21 ultra they are money draining and bad choices….

Buying a refurbished or used flagship from the previous year saves a ton of money, because that's when most of the monetary depreciation happens, and with smartphone spec upgrades becoming more and more incremental, spending half the money to lose out on barely one or two key features, is absolutely worth it..

But a 6 months EMI would be sensible as you are not paying too much as Interest, your cibil score also improved and you are not giving too much money upfront rather keeping liquid cash with you.
I bought at No cost EMI for 1 year and paid all in time even in lockdown 😅
Emi is good when you are buying phone in your range but if you go out of budget let's say you bought iphone 12 for emi but your budget is 20k and after few months you broke the screen and that screen is costing you 25k and for sure you can't afford 25k just for screen that's how you end up decreasing your experience

I have never seen a TH-camr who resonates with my financial views so much. Unfortunately most them make their financial decisions emotionally rather than using their rational mind. This video should be shared widely.
For this reason and for the previous video, I never go above 15k for a new mobile phone, because I realized after using a lot of mobile phones that I won't use any of those for more than 3 years. So now I consider this while purchasing a new phone and limit my budget that I feel is enough for 3 years. Problem is most people when buy expensive mobiles are very ignorant and they assume that everything lasts forever including their dear, precious half bit apple devices.
I would also love to mention the best investment I did recently is on a Kindle paperwhite, and suggest anyone who like to read, surely go for it.

I got my iPhone 11 + Airpods for 54,999/- INR after working for 6 months and saving every penny of it. Invested 5k a month in the form of an SIP irrespective of my expenses or wants. Paid off my phone in just 3 months, and I felt amazing. I have never felt like I have bought a phone when I buy it on EMI, hence I try to pay it off in the least amount of time possible.
Now that I work in a much better place with a better salary, I feel that I need to have an expensive phone in order to fit in with the crowd, its not college anymore where I could use a phone with a broken screen.

I use an android phone. I bought it in early 2017 and it works well; clean user experience. I am very happy with it. I bought a 12-13K Samsung phone for my secretary in 2020 and when she was on leave I had it for a few days. I was shocked with the amount of unnecessary notifications, nagwares and bloatwares. The job I have, I am practically on call and that Samsung phone completely ruined my peace of mind. For my next work phone I am going to buy a Nokia/Motorola because I value my secretary's quality of life. For me a phone is a necessary tool for personal and work life. I have used androids, iPhone and Blackberrys. Even though people will think I am weird but Blackberrys with enterprise solutions provided by my employer from 2006-14 are my best mobile phone experience!

I have a good galaxy A52s 5G phone. During this summer sale, I got tempted to go for Xiaomi 12 pro seeing that you get 8k discount, but I always stopped after adding it to cart. I knew I didn't need it but all other TH-cam videos where people are saying discount mai hai Lelo, and TH-cam recommending same videos over and over again almost won to manipulate my mind.
But I had watched both of your videos How not to buy expensive phone.
