Great video, Sam. I did the Edale Skyline in the summer, wish I would have camped over halfway through as where you camped was the halfway point for me too as I started at the Mam Tor side. My feet were blistered up doing it all in one go, but the views I had were incredible!👍🏼
First one of your videos I've watched Sam. Really enjoyed it mate. Look forward to seeing you out the Cumbria Way. I've done the normal and mountain variation. You'll both love it.
I enjoyed your highland way video and ive watched quite a few of your others so im looking forward to the cumbria way Sam i tried the first section last year im 60 and ive had a stroke so as you can imagine things can get pretty interesting i will say the signage can be a bit different so youve really got to keep your eyes open but anyway all the best to you and your dad.take care mate.😊👍
Hi Sam, regarding the question of how to reduce condensation on sleeping bags whilst camping in cold conditions. I have found a good quality goretex bivi bag such as the british army one stops all condensation on the sleeping bag. I purchased mine from Strikeforce supplies for £40.00 but have just checked their website and it looks like they now don't have any in stock. The bivi bag also increases the warmth of your combined system to a point were I normally find a three season sleeping bag is warm enough in winter. Great video and on the west highland walk too. cheers.
Fantastic video, Sam! I’m planning to walk from Dover to the northernmost point in Scotland, solo wild camping along the way this summer. I’m new to this, so it’s great to watch your videos and learn about the gear and all kinds of tips. Thanks for sharing!🤩
One of my favourite places, so many options, routes and circuits round there which is great. Be up there in a couple of months time again for some WHW training. Cracking videos 👍
Takes me back 30yrs, i used to hike and camp around Kinder, and also in the Lake district. I have some great pics on top of kinder, during seriously heavy snow.
Loads of places to camp on the Kinder scout. There is a quarry area just as you head down off the plateau to Hope cross and a water source to. A great place to camp used by many including the well known Mr Messner. Enjoying the videos and looking to get out again myself January 25. Great to see how much winter stuff you are doing really entertaining and keeping the wild camping community entertained 😁👍 atb Dave
Condensation tip - mini desk fan you can plug into a power bank. I have one I use for my dog at home when I'm at work in summer, and don't want to leave something electrical plugged in while I'm not there. Hardly uses any power you could leave it on all night without using much battery.
Nice content, Sam. I came across your West Highland Way winter edition and have now subscribed. Try using a footprint with your Hilleberg. That would stop moisture from the ground. This is all trial and error. It's like car insurance. What works for one might not work for the other. 😊
Thanks a lot mate! I do actually use the footprint for the hilleberg! It’s such a good tent… I think it’s a constant learning curve depending entirely of the conditions on each day 😂
Flipping brilliant this Sam, I’m totally inspired, love the trips with your Dad and your tent is mega nice. Would you consider any hiking trips in the Poole Dorset area ? Over the chain ferry ⛴️ and beyond it’s especially nice, but there’s many great trails, I’d like to do some hiking wild camping trips and MtB 🚵♀️🎒⛺️ this coming year, do you do any MtB wild camping as well as the hiking wild camping ? Cheers dude 🥳
Only subscribed a few weeks ago I follow about 5 wild camp channels watched a about 5 of your videos yes I am sticking with your channel love your content and enthusiasm for nature and the outdoors and winter😊😊😊
Did the Skyline myself Friday afternoon to yesterday. Almost jibbed it due to train cancellation. Glad I didnt as weather was like the scenario. Awesome!
Nice update! Are you interested in reviewing our 6-in-1 drinking water tester? It can test bacteria, virus, microplastic, heavy metal, and weed killer, etc! We're sure that you'll love it.
Your vids are ace mate, looking forward to more i did edale skyline few years ago, was tough and did cumbria way this year, hoping to give west highland way a go, whats the merino base layet you hike in please pal ?
love seeing you & your Dad out and about. Apologies if you've answered this question before, but what is the watch you wear and would you recommend it?
Great Video! Really enjoyed watching this and thinking of doing this at some point this year! One question... What watch do you wear and do you do one continuous recording of the walk?
Ive never heard the black panther story before but me & my wife's been going to the peak district for decades. Anyway it must be going on for 20 years now when we were driving back home, down a single track road that leads towards Bradfield., it was pitch black as you can imagine when what we described at the time was a black panther ran straight over the road roughly 100 metres in front of us, it sounds bizarre but thats what we saw & every time we drive down that road we nearly always mention it, so there could indeed be truth in it??? P.s enjoy your ramblings & your dads a fit old lad...
Enjoyed that. I’ve been telling myself for the last few years that I’d do the Skyline, this might just be the inspiration I needed! How much water did you take, btw?
Sam, did I hear you say you drink the water you use to boil the Wayfayrer pouches? I suggested this to my missus and she says its not a good idea!! Thoughts?
I have done it a lot but it does say on the pack to discard of the water 😂 so I’m not going to recommend it just in case… there’s a possibility ink could leak from the packaging isn’t there…
I use altras too! Brilliant shoes… for winter I’ve been wearing these jack wolfskin terraquest texapore mids, they are warm but still a little bit like trainers rather than boots.. I love them
Brilliant, thanks for the reply mate. Yeah I love my Altras. I've got the Olympus 6 and Timp 5 Gore Tex. So comfortable. Loving these winter adventures, keep them coming 👍🏻

Thanks a lot mate! Which mountains does the higher route take in on the Cumbria way?
I'm loving your winter adventures.
I just love your videos, Sam. You & ya Dad. 10/10 👍
Great video! Loving these with your dad. Thanks for the kit list too! Useful to know :)

Another fantastic video. It was good to bump into you and your dad (twice) on Saturday when walking the Edale Skyline. Love the content. 👍
Great vid & looking forward to your Cumbria Way adventures👍
Love the content. Looking forward to the next video.
I enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing.
Enjoyed that video, thank you. I plan to do it in the new year. Didn't think that car park allowed overnight parking, very convenient if it does!
Thanks pal!
I don’t think it does mate but there are lay bys all the way along the road 👍👍
Condensation tip maybe one of those small hanging dehumidifier bags? Great video again. Thank you.
Another belter Sam and Dad 👍

Entertaining videos of your adventures.

love seeing you & your Dad out and about.
Apologies if you've answered this question before, but what is the watch you wear and would you recommend it?
Hey it’s a garmin fenix 8! I love it but it’s a lot of money!
@ great thank you for getting back to me. I’m thinking of a Garmin as my Apple Watch is useless with its short battery life
Great Video! Really enjoyed watching this and thinking of doing this at some point this year! One question... What watch do you wear and do you do one continuous recording of the walk?
Thanks mate! It’s a garmin Fenix 8 watch and no I just film a few seconds here and there then price it together after 👍
Or did you mean tracking the route on the watch? If so then yeah I paused it at night then carry it on in the morning 👍
Ive never heard the black panther story before but me & my wife's been going to the peak district for decades. I think it’s entirely possible you know! There’s a documentary on prime about it too!
Enjoyed that. I’ve been telling myself for the last few years that I’d do the Skyline, this might just be the inspiration I needed!
How much water did you take, btw?
Had 2.5 litres and .5 litres in the flask of hot water 👍

Hi to you both and I’m surprised we didn’t bump into you as we were pretty much on the same route last Friday Saturday and Sunday.
