WINTER Wild Camping on the Edale Skyline in the Peak District
Hi, thanks for watching!
me and dad are currently training to hike the Cumbria Way in January, winter edition, so we decided to hike the 22 mile Edale Skyline route in the peaks and wild camp along the way...
winter thru hiking seems to be a different ball game altogether but we live the additional challenge and the scenery can be even more impressive this time of year...
anyway hit me up with and tips or questions you might have, hope you enjoyed the video and keep an eye out for the Cumbria Way vid coming soon!
much love, Sam

Just discovered this channel. Would love if you did a video on wild camping in more agriculture areas - also, come check out the Fens also 😊
Brilliant lads ... love it 💚
Brilliant And well done to your dad, amazing achievement, I couldn’t do that in those temperatures 👍🏼👏👏🙌 Would love to see a video regarding your kit Sam
Hehe that's not texas. Here they do it quick and fast so it no last. :p
Fantastic video 👌
Quality
-10 a bit like my flat but at least my dogs keep me warm
what a lovely thing to do with your dad. Well done you Sam!
what an amazing trip and well done for completing it, Sam. Absolutely stunning!
Such a great series. Thank you Sam!
Corn Du is actually pronounced Corn Dee. It means "black horn", Du being the Welsh for black.
Saw your tiktoks and these videos popped up on my youtube homepage not long after - brilliant series, can't wait to watch more of your stuff
It's pronounced Tyne drum. And it's highland Cooz 😂 Brilliant video, beatiful scenery. Well done lads ❤
Good job man😊
Beautiful scenery! Great video! Thank you!
Juat came across your channel, what amazing scenery! The northcoast 500 is a must. I ha e been going to a little village called Durness for 25 years and my dad has been going for 50 years....way before the nc500 was a thing, if you want breathtaking scenery and proper remoteness it is a spot you need to go to. Google smoo cave, this is just one example of what you can see up there. Massive respect
Well done guy’s don’t see many videos of people walking in the winter I’m lucky I only stay a hour away from Loch Lomond and have walked the whole path more times than I can remember and it’s different every time 🏴👍
These people go out just so they can make a video for you tube and get a pat on the head Then a dude sitting by his fire with his family gets called out to go and rescue them Just go in the spring in the warm
Loved this video! Thank you for sharing Sam!
gorgeous ... and the nature and countryside is nice too.
Great vid, keep them coming! Subbed! Think we passed you up Kinder Scout, a group of 10 of us.
Great hike that, I walk regularly along the Derwent and Noe to Hathersage. A great route. Would be really interested in the GPX file or route it you have it. Cheers 😊
Fair play lads. 💪
What a trip! I did not hike but was in Fort William in May. Saw many hikers pose for a photo with that traveler. A right of passage it seems.
Sam I came across you’re channel by chance just before Christimas and I am now catching up with all of you’re videos. I had a feeling you had been in the Army as I could see how you tabbed with your kit on one of the episodes. Then the next episode I watched where you answered a lady as how you got in to camping you said you had been in the Army 💥. I was in for 24 years, 12 years with the Stafford’s and then 12 years in the PT Corps. Who was you with? Keep up these videos as they are now my favourite to watch 👏🏻👏🏻
I’m used to go there 30 years ago while at Sheffield University. While taking a break from revising for my finials cycled out there. Great spot
& a kit video would be great 😊
Great series, loved it! Hope to do this in April 👣
Brilliant set of Videos!
Who sleeps on an air mattress in the cold?
I couldn’t pay my dad to do that 😂
Enjoyed that👍
Nice one, used to live in Kinlochleven so know the pub you stopped in very well 😂😂 you can feed those deer in the village they're that tame.
My brother did this last year He said it was fantastic in winter Looks epic
I live in Pembrokeshire and know these places well.
Respect uys that's pretty cold. ❤
Stunning, fairplay to you and pap,
Fantastic! Ive walked it twice now and plan to do it once more. Everytime so far its been torrential rain.. dreamt of cold crisp conditions bit never got them....
Brilliant to watch thanks
Brilliant lads well done
Just come across your content. It's wholesome showing the treks with your old man, friends and family! Nice work!
I am now addicted to your videos. Keep up the good work chaps
Ah you were so lucky with the weather. Great walk, great video, well narrated. Keep it up. Cheers
First one of your videos I've watched Sam. Really enjoyed it mate. Look forward to seeing you out the Cumbria Way. I've done the normal and mountain variation. You'll both love it.
Thanks a lot mate! Which mountains does the higher route take in on the Cumbria way?
@@Samrculley Strange, I actually sent you a reply yesterday, but it seems like it didn't go through. 🤷♂ So the trail skirts past the Old Man of Coniston, over Swirl How, Glaramara and Skiddaw, to name but a few. It joins back up to the official route at various stages, so you can always mix the two variants. Whilst it's harder than the official route, it is stunning and you can get some epic wild camps in. I did one on Glaramara which was amazing. You can see a video on my channel, but I've also got a route on Komoot you can take a look at if you want. Let me know if you need any advice though mate. Either way you'll have a great time as both versions are beautiful. 👍
@@Samrculley Ah I think it was because I put the Koomot link in the reply. Let me know if you want me to send you a link and I'll drop you an Insta message.
Hi Sam, regarding the question of how to reduce condensation on sleeping bags whilst camping in cold conditions. I have found a good quality goretex bivi bag such as the british army one stops all condensation on the sleeping bag. I purchased mine from Strikeforce supplies for £40.00 but have just checked their website and it looks like they now don't have any in stock. The bivi bag also increases the warmth of your combined system to a point were I normally find a three season sleeping bag is warm enough in winter. Great video and on the west highland walk too. cheers.
Thanks a lot mate! I’ll keep an eye out then 👍
Great adventure ❤
Its awesome seeing it in winter. I completed it again in may. Brilliant videos.
Nice and beautiful view with snow. My partner and I just got back from St Andrews for the new year.
This looks awesome!
Ust found your channel. Nice adventure for you both . your Dad did great
