I’m glad to see the C8.R finally get to dominate in 2023 WEC season, even if it’s a different driver lineup than the usual Corvette drivers like Milner, Taylor, or Garcia.
Corvette dominates Endurance racing. True to Chevrolets heritage, when team Chevrolet shows up at your series, it’s time to shut up and race. They don’t come to play games. Chevrolet is a serious performance brand.
I also want to mention the second Corvette racecar manufacturer besides Pratt&Miller: Callaway Competition, with their GT3-specced versions of the C6.R and C7.R, claiming huge success in ADAC GT Masters, competing in Asia too at races like the Suzuka 10 hours and having its first full US season in 2022 in GT America scoring consistent podium finished that season despite not managing to claim a race win yet. The C7-GT3.R is my fav GT3 car ever and it will be hard to see this beauty doing its farewell in 2023
I got into the sportscar game a little late, so I’m probably biased, but the C7.R is my favorite. Such a beast, and the best looking one IMO. Plus it had a ton of on track success. I like the C8.R, but I do miss front engine Corvettes.
Loving this history series. Especially for a new Sportscar fan like me (following endurance racing since 2021 only) I'm a big GT car fan I must say. But yeah the new era and boom of the Hypercar class is also got me really excited 🙂
That sound clip of the c5r does it no justice. Its soooo loud and there is so much bass to the sound of it, it shook the ground. Nothing like waking up to it camping next to track lol
One thing I love is that the C5, C6, and C7R have been based on a road going Corvette but this time the Corvette C8 Z06 is based on the C8.R with a Z06 GT3 coming out later
Thanks really enjoyed your video. Been to a lot of races at Daytona. My favorite is the C8 R. Which I saw race at Daytona in 2020. Got my C8 in March of that year. Will get a C8 Z06 2023 since I’m on a wait list at Ciocca Chevy #396. Thanks again for you your exciting and accurate info on corvette racing.
Nicely done. Enjoyed it. Got to go push the bottom & bring the LS7 to life now. Puts a big smile on my face every time. Love the borla sound with the windows down & a cold start cammed LS7. Yep gotta go! LS7S cam clip on my channel. Doesn’t sound as good as it does live but you’ll get the idea.
I can assure you you're not the only one, I love the C8.R, just that some miss the earth-shaking and thunder sound of the cross-plane V8 in the prior Corvette racecars or because they dislike the overall design and don't considerate it a Vette.
@@christheradar believe me I also miss the roar of the C7R, that thing could make Satan quiver in his boots, but the C8 gives this atmospheric like sound that can lull you into a trance
I do admit that the older C5r ,C6r ,and c7r sound a lot better, but the C8r with a flat plane crank engine in a mid-engine car gives it a lot more potential for winning races now, not to mention with upgrades to the exhaust, the C8 Z06 Street edition will be a monster let alone, and we can't wait for the ZR1, that will be incredible. In drivability and power to ground .I predict it won't be beat or almost impossible to beat in a future C8r race version. Like you said a lot of people had their doubts about the C8 mid engine cars looks and sound, but that was a false misconception because they can't keep any on the lots ,and are waiting close to a year to get one built.
@still_guns No disrespect, but that is blatantly wrong. The Pontiac Fiero had nothing to do with the Corvette and nor did it replace it! Corvette did not end production in 2019. They released a new generation four years ago and just released the new C8 ZR1!
@@christheradar Corvette production did end in 2019 because the thing that Chevrolet is super gluing the badge onto is nothing like a real Corvette. It looks like an NSX and sounds like a Ferrari with a broken engine. If I super glue the badge onto a truck, does that make the truck a Corvette? True Corvette fans will never accept that *thing*. If a true C8 that resembles all production Corvette's built from 1953-2019 does not come along, then Corvette is truly dead and will probably never return. Not to mention the LT6 is a horrific engine and all traces of its existence need to be purged.

The C6 and C7 were, in my opinion, the greatest corvettes ever built. The C8 is a complete departure from corvette heritage but it is the future. I absolutly love the new design and performance. Kudos to Chevrolet for embracing the future and new ideas. I wonder how long it's going to take ford and dodge to come along and try and steal the spotlight with a mid engine mustang and charger?
I just got back from the Bell Isle Grand Prix in Detroit and in the Legend historic race there were 2x P&M C5-R's. NOTHING sounds better than the Corvettes V8's!!!!!! And the C6R.....makes you go weak at the knees!!!!!!! 😎 Some of the best races were the C6R fighting against Aston Martin DB9's V12!!!!
The C7.R is my favorite corvette race car. They always stood out from the rest of field solely because of their sound. I've seen them many times at Long Beach and I loved hearing that roar they had over the squealing Porsches, Ferraris and Lamborghinis
@Michael Butkus - I remember being at Lime Rock Park in 2019, the last year the Ford GT was raced by the factory team. I absolutely agree that the C7R had a great sound. I remember it coming on to the Sam Posey Straight and bellowing V8 power out of its exhausts, just as a comparatively quiet Ford GT V6 blew by it! The 2 GTs placed 1st and 3rd with the closest C7 in 5th. Great sounds don't win races.
I think the C8.R isn’t just the prettiest Corvette, but perhaps the prettiest GT car ever fielded. Also, having just watched the incar for most of the 24hrs Le Mans, I like the sound note.
Big fan of Corvette racing, so I really enjoyed this video. My personal favorite is the C7.R but I do like them all. I will be at Lime Rock in July to see them in person, can't wait!
One day, I will get to experience watching and hearing the Vette race in person. I'm closer to VIR than Lime Rock or Watkins Glen, but I am far away from VIR.
My first gt race was 2019 at road atlanta when the C7R car ran it last race and the Ford GT's ended their gtlm imsa program. I been hooked big time ever since and have seen the rolex 24 and 12hs sebring, expect to be at road atlanta for 3rd time this year. Prototype/ Gt multi-class endurance racing is THE BEST !
I am a huge corvette guy! I own a C7 Z06 and it’s fantastic just how it is stock. I have plans to get a C5 Z06 to track etc and tune over time and build up to a C6 Z06 and do the same with that in the future. The C7 Z is an absolute monster but way too much for me to full out on a track so imma start small.
They had so much potential yesterday at Le Mans to win until the #64 Corvette got wrecked by an LMP2 class car. 😥 They claimed a 1-2 at the start though.
@@christheradar I saw that. The French driver felt bad and apologized. That was good sportsmanship. It looked like he didn’t see the Corvette. He simply turned into him.

And now, Corvette Racing is folding, but they went out in a blaze of glory this year at Le Mans, with the C8.R taking the win for the LMGTE AM class in its final race.
Some constructive criticism, when discussing things like "sound" please do no use videogame examples. They are not realistic all the time; they replicate (aka make what they think it should be) the sound of the engine based on some recording. The C7 sound you posted and a couple of the C5 & C6 sounds does not sound like them from actual recording and what I've experienced with these cars flying by, it was closer to a standard carbureted equal length 427 crate engine. There is a few details you left out, and your over arching storyline kind of fell off and missed a big detail that truly puts to emphasis the C6's greatness. Otherwise keep on putting the videos out. It's obvious that you have a passion for cars and this is half the battle.
Hey, I understand that cars don't always sound realistic in-game, and you are right. FYI the C7.R you heard in the video does sound like a real thing onboard view, the sound file has been recorded from the actual video onboard of Tommy Milner racing the C7.R at the 2014 24 hours of Daytona. th-cam.com/video/pxOl0b8K6FY/w-d-xo.html (I also did record the sound in-game for the C8.R and sounds very much like real life) I also planned on making a video about the history of BMW M Motorsport and I won't always use the videogame sound as examples unless they sound realistic. (The C5.R was real-life onboard in the video) Also, I'd like to know what are the details I missed about the C6.R and what you mean when you say "overarching storyline"? Just curious.
@@christheradar As far as the detail, it was that the C6R was the cause of the fall of GT1 since everyone else dropped off one by one with aston martin being the final nail in the coffin. The 6.0L displacement in GT2 was done after protest to limit the Z06, along with new rules on the rotating assembly restricting teams to a 10% window of the OEM spec weight forcing P&M to resleeve their engines (hence the comments at Laguna Seca about IMSA not liking the steel sleeves since the LS7 used grey iron sleeves). They later further restricted displacement in the series to 5.5L due to more petitions and it was rumoured online at the time that P&M was using the LS9 6.2L bottom end and block for homologation but not announcing it. Unfortunately I have no way of confirming this so take it what you will. Basically the C6 was so dominate at the time that both the ACO and IMSA had to keep trying to restrict it further so to prevent it from pulling another GT1 run and killing GT2/GTE Fun note for your viewers, and I don't know if you knew it at the time, but that rotating assembly limit was how, before the actual CAD leaks happened on the new LT's for the c8 Z06 and ZR1, we knew the z06 was going to be flatplaned. The GTE ruleset that carried on GT2 ruleset rotating assembly weight window gave away the engine the second the C8R was spied testing.

I got into the sportscar game a little late, so I’m probably biased, but the C7.R is my favorite. Such a beast, and the best looking one IMO. Plus it had a ton of on track success. I like the C8.R, but I do miss front engine Corvettes.
Here after Corvettes 2023 Le Mans win 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
What Corvette? All I saw was a Pontiac Fiero.
Loving this history series. Especially for a new Sportscar fan like me (following endurance racing since 2021 only) I'm a big GT car fan I must say. But yeah the new era and boom of the Hypercar class is also got me really excited 🙂
So, I'm gonna need more of these videos about numerous makes as it was quite detailed. I love stuff like this! Thank you!
Thank you very much I appreciate that! And for sure more videos like this are coming.
Great video!! Love the Corvette team. and I love the new C8R
Thanks for this video! I have been following the Corvettes since '97 ..and I have several Models and memorabilia. Love the info in this video!
That sound clip of the c5r does it no justice. Its soooo loud and there is so much bass to the sound of it, it shook the ground. Nothing like waking up to it camping next to track lol
I like that project cars 2 Music in the background
What a good game
Love the vette and DBR9 rivalry,i think it's one of the best love story 🤣
Great, great video !! Well done, congratulations.
I went to 2014 race at Monterey and to hear the C7 in person is awesome, your body shakes when this beast roars by
I wish I got to experience that IRL. Is the C7.R louder in person than it is in video compliations?
The C5R and GT1 C6R's are my favorite by far, especially the sound. American Muscle winning on the world stage.
Always loved driving the C5R and the Viper in Grand turismo, such icons
I worked for Chevy and the C6-R is and will always be the sexiest Vette...V8 is beautiful in it's own way
I am a diehard Corvette Racing fan, I like the C5, C6, C7, and C8, they all look like a winner to me.
Quality content right here!
You should get a real Corvette, not that knockoff Fiero BS.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Am I the only one who really loves the C8R, it looks like a true Lemans racer, plus the flatty V8 don't sound so bad either
I can assure you you're not the only one, I love the C8.R, just that some miss the earth-shaking and thunder sound of the cross-plane V8 in the prior Corvette racecars or because they dislike the overall design and don't considerate it a Vette.
@@christheradar believe me I also miss the roar of the C7R, that thing could make Satan quiver in his boots, but the C8 gives this atmospheric like sound that can lull you into a trance
watching C6.R GT1 against MC12 in the FIA GT Championship was the best thing ever
Such a fantastic video, I love the Corvette race cars, been my dream car since I was a boy.
A great shame Corvette production ended in 2019 and that there hasn't been a Corvette since. I will remember them forever.
Uhmm, hello??? Corvettes are still being produced!
@@christheradar No they aren't. They got replaced by Pontiac Fiero Mark 2.
@@still_guns It seems like you're biased and one of those people who always try to correct others and spread misinformation, even when there's evidence against what you're saying. Clearly, your long essays seem to lack thorough research. Gtfo :D
Thank you!!!

I have seen them race since '99. Mosport, Watkins Glen, Sebring, Daytona and Indianapolis. Seen a bunch of wins too.
I love the C6R so damn much! I always loved it since I got my HotWheels one when I was a kid.
Excellent video. C7 is my fav.
Very well done.
Great analysis. Thanks.
My fave is the C-7R. that sound is just awesome.
Next vid....how about the viper racing teams from ALMS and the N24
Great video! Very detailed & informative 👍
C5.R for the win 🏆 🏁🔥
I like how the forza motorsports 6 music is in the background, gives me a little nostalgia
I never realized how much success Corvette has had at LeMans
They had so much potential yesterday at Le Mans to win until the #64 Corvette got wrecked by an LMP2 class car. 😥 They claimed a 1-2 at the start though.
@@christheradar I saw that. The French driver felt bad and apologized. That was good sportsmanship. It looked like he didn’t see the Corvette. He simply turned into him.
Massive nolstagia hit when the FM6 music started playing

Great Video!!!!
Thanks for checking in. ❤
Well done.
Good documentary.
Wonderful sounding race engine i own a 7 liter 427 cubic inche big block engine as well but with a little more power about 675 horsepower one 1050 cfm carburetor 13.8 to 1 compression Keith black nitrous oxide pistons Sig Erson 679 lift, 297 duration nitrous cam , 150 horsepower nitrous oxide shot 825 horsepower plus 725 pounds of torque
Passengers can't keep their asses in their seats or their feet on the floor boards when i pound the throttle really honestly
The best car ever produced.
And now, Corvette Racing is folding, but they went out in a blaze of glory this year at Le Mans, with the C8.R taking the win for the LMGTE AM class in its final race.
C.6 was iconic
FYI the C7.R you heard in the video does sound like a real thing onboard view, the sound file has been recorded from the actual video onboard of Tommy Milner racing the C7.R at the 2014 24 hours of Daytona. th-cam.com/video/pxOl0b8K6FY/w-d-xo.html
(I also did record the sound in-game for the C8.R and sounds very much like real life) I also planned on making a video about the history of BMW M Motorsport and I won't always use the videogame sound as examples unless they sound realistic. (The C5.R was real-life onboard in the video)
Also, I'd like to know what are the details I missed about the C6.R and what you mean when you say "overarching storyline"?
Basically the C6 was so dominate at the time that both the ACO and IMSA had to keep trying to restrict it further so to prevent it from pulling another GT1 run and killing GT2/GTE
Fun note for your viewers, and I don't know if you knew it at the time, but that rotating assembly limit was how, before the actual CAD leaks happened on the new LT's for the c8 Z06 and ZR1, we knew the z06 was going to be flatplaned. The GTE ruleset that carried on GT2 ruleset rotating assembly weight window gave away the engine the second the C8R was spied testing.
This is real cool got to make a DVD I want one
Wym?
C5-R remains my favourite, including when you fit its engine into a Lister Storm prototype.
Love the C.8.R🔥🔥🔥
holy dude nice viddddd
dont usually comment but i have to say, i really enjoyed wathing this video, subbed!!
Thank you so much, it helps a lot!
Great vid! New subscriber👊🏻
Thank you!
The C5.R got me back in to racing
Good vid this
