Campagnolo is so underrated I love it I suppose it’s because the biggest player is Shimano but I do think they’re making a comeback I feel people are questioning the value of Shimano. 👍😊
For virtually all big bike brands a Shimano drive train is an option. If you want SRAM, you have to look harder, although things have gotten better as SRAM has had a head start when it comes to 1x12 gearing at various price points for mountain bikes, and the new eTap AXS drive trains are pretty popular, too. If you want Campy, you have to look hard, and in most cases get a custom build, which is expensive. However, one thing is that prices have not become that much of an issue … for bike companies. Drive trains and bike parts have gotten significantly more expensive. Electronic group sets have moved up one rung on the price ladder, and even if money is no object, getting a hold of parts is *hard*. I had to wait for 4.5 months to get all the bike parts for my bike. I got *the only* 1x Force crankset (165 mm) in all of Japan at the time. It's nuts. I would have opted for a Red crankset, but that would have meant waiting at least another 2 months.
I just replaced my Athena 11s groupset with Ultegra because the front shifter broke. I regret it before even riding the bike. Only benefit is that it likely more long lived and somewhat easier to service. It's heavier, uglier, less ergonommic (especially braking from the hoods), I need to deal with "trim" positions of the FD, cable housings are stiffer, it's roughly twice the price. And I prefer the lever setup with separate shifters and brake levers.
I never had the pushing the wrong di2 button issue, but it does trip me up which one I’m supposed to shift because I am too used to shimano mechanical shifting the whole lever. It doesn’t help that I still have one mechanical sti bike I ride. When I first got di2 I tried etap style on each hand. I couldn’t do it too used to shifting with only the right shifter.

Nice review and comparison! I have the SR EPS v4 on my Aethos and love it... well... not at the beginning as it took me 3 weeks and a ton of frustration to figure out my rear derailleur was faulty and had to swap it under warranty. Also the same here for the build, my mechanic for sure was not a happy puppy. Aside from the small ticking noise when the brake pads first grab because of the floating rotor and the yet to be adjusted rotor alignment, the brakes are awesome, powerful, easy to modulate and not like my SRAM which screams loud and proud when just a tiny bit wet. Also the shifting is so smooth, aside from the occasional clunk sound on some of the larger cogs shifts. Totally love the feel of hoods and the brake levers. I also have an Ekar set aside waiting for my gravel frame to be delivered. I got the Ekar mainly for the cassette gearing set up and of course, the great hood and brake lever feel, I just wish it came in EPS...
I don't see the point of that threaded charge cable. I think it would be better for it to disconnect, if you trip over it, otherwise you might pull your bike down.

Particularly here in New England it can be a problem with rough roads on steep decents - I've dropped the chain frequently as a result. I am planning to ditch the OSPW with the EPS setup, the pulley wheels are larger than the 11sp SR anyway and I never really noticed too much difference with the OSPW versus without...but curious to get your thoughts.
