That's not fully correct. The first Australian peacock spider genus Maratus Karsch was discovered in 1878. Skeletor, Spidermuffin, and the Elephant Peacock Spider are 3 more recently discovered species of Peacock Spider in 2015 and as of March 2020 at least 7 new species in the genus have been discovered by a peacock spider specialist, Joseph Schubert.

Dang. I'm trying to get over my fear of spiders so have been checking out how cool, sweet and awesome they are. I then stumbled upon this video. The beauty of the male is incredible. The "dancing" brought me to smiles and an appreciative laugh - then came the other male and I felt bad for the first guy... until she grabbed the 2nd one. Then I thought, oh wow, she's really forceful. My shock then turned to horror 😱😨😬
