Honestly hated that Lip never reached his full potential. Really none of the Gallaghers did except maybe Carl. Lip was so smart he had college offers and scholarships rolling in after getting caught CHEATING in a nationally mandated test for students. Shame we never got more of smart Lip
I see it differently. During lip’s low points in the show, we get a lot of allusions (and direct references) to the fact that Lip is almost exactly like Frank. Lip’s full potential in the show was never to be an intellect - it was to be a better man and father than Frank ever was.
People are saying that it’s disappointing Lip never reached his full potential by capitalising from his intellect. But honest I can understand why his character turned out the way he did. Knowledge can sometimes be a double edge sword. Sometimes the more you know the more you’re burden by your own thoughts. But as long as we’re content with our lives who cares?

I loved that Lip didn't finish college. College is where you learn how to work for someone else . In general, the Gallaghers always found ways of making money. As someone with a masters degree. I admire people with street smarts, not people with some piece of paper.
4:48 I think the plan changed as the show went on, but I'm pretty sure this was intended to be "and that was the high point of Carl's life, and the happiest he would ever be." All season long people have been really concerned about how weird and violent Carl is, and this is the one time his violence saved the day.
It sucks how the show, showed us just how smart,witty, clever, resourceful, and talented the Gallagher’s could be when they are determined and even had the potential to become more successful and wealthy but instead the writers decided to nerf all the characters on the show and we never got more than just the typical Gallagher’s trying to make it out BS for 10 seasons and in the end they were exactly how we found them
Exactly how we found them? Lip becomes an alcoholic battling with addiction most the series, Ian has severe mental issues that are going to effect him his entire life, frank is literally dead, fiona fucks off to whatever life she creates after starting the real-estate business and carl gets a full time job as a police officer. That isn't at all how they started off, they were all criminal degenerate kids, some of them made it out and some didn't. it would almost be too cliche if they all somehow made it out and weren't traumatised by their fucked up childhood
It isn't the ability to pass tests that matters. Any factual regurgitating robot can do it. The keener interest is innovative thought. Getting around barriers is far more interesting than clawing through them.
First seasons were the best, than to much gayness trans and all that sht hapening in usa movies at that time, what I hated they remove Steve, than Fiona who was like the main actor at first, they turned Carl in to a pussy in next seasons, now Frank could had been main actor, but slowly the cool caracter had so many problems, I never understood why they try to kill him in a river
