i'm currently rewatching Season 4 and Frank is hands-down the best part. to be fair, Fiona becomes a terrible person and Debbie becomes almost unwatchable, but there are wonderful storylines from Lip, Ian and Mickey, and of course V and Kev, but even considering all of them, Frank is just mesmerising to watch. his relationship with Sammi too is really really sweet and moving - I know a lot of people ended up hating Sammi, but I'd recommend going back to watch her first few appearances - Frank's love for her is quite astonishing to watch, considering how selfish he usually is. whenever she laughs, he smiles at her like she's the best thing he's ever seen.
Shameless is gritty and depicts the real world. It’s normal that as humans we find inspiration in suffering. For years, centuries, we humans have known suffering. Life involves suffering, and when we find meaning from it, we evolve as nature intended
Bullying CAN make stronger people, but people who didn’t have much going for them in the first place may become wounded. That’s where mental illness comes in and struggles in later life because you didn’t know how to stand up for yourself. I didn’t even know it was a thing until highschool.

However it psychologically crushed me and I have to go to therapy since I have poor self esteem and social anxiety as a result. Most comments, if not all, have the wrong focus. He is actually giving a lesson to his son (the bully). The other kids (the bullied) are only benefiting from this lesson he is giving to his son; and that is the actual genius of this scene. He is clearly illustrating to the bully the future he is aiming at, by the ways he is choosing now. And he was so effective in doing so, that he actually touched the bully's subconscious to the point that his immediate reaction was: "what if I want to cure cancer"... to which he answered: "[well, then you must change this life perspective of yours.... because with these choices, no, you won't... these life style you are choosing right now most likely will take you as far as a penitentiary. So, if you want to get somewhere else, then you need to change the direction you are going, otherwise]... you'll be lucky if you don't get gonorrhea from your cell mate." The bully will have a lot on his mind from this perspective which has now been inseminated into his brain by this Frank character. The bully simply didn't look at it this way ever before. Now he will. And to the others, including the kids, the school authorities and the parents, he said: "[I came here to give my son a lesson, and by doing so, I am helping you get rid of this problem while teaching all of you a thing or two]... You're welcome." So, when Frank said: "spoken with love, son", he was really sincere... because wisdom is love, and that is what he just delivered to him... and anyone else who is smart enough to understand. This is a great lesson in which everybody learned. This is the best game... in which everybody wins.
Why is everyone fighting about which show is best, I mean seriously ?! Yes at first we could compare them since they had really close plot (especially in season 1) but now I'm pretty sure Shameless US deviate in lof of way from the UK version ( The plot for Fiona for exemple). They are different tv shows ( My favorite character is not the same in the UK and the US, they are different now since they don't have the same story ...) . Both of them have different strenght and weakness.
I was bullied in middle and high school, including repeated physical assaults by both boys and girls - this is only funny because it's on Showtime. In real life it would be appalling, and anyone who says "Frank's the Man" should either walk in a bullying victim's shoes for a day or think long and hard about what may have happened to them once but they have since forgot. The Columbine shooters were bullying victims, and look how they turned out (I know, worst case example). We don't say "Rape, torture and genocide are a vital part of any ecosystem," do we?
He's right about some parts but it's more complex than that, being bullied trains the victim to get used to that specific environment and that isn't automatically a positive thing, for example if the kid is being bullied for being ethical and respectful and turns into someone who is rude and threatening in order to survive in that environment then it could completely ruin his/her future in the workplace and university. So it really depends, the positive is that they might learn what is considered social norms but the negative is they might pick up behaviors that keeps them from being successful in life.
It’s a harsh truth, but learning to deal with a bully helps you later in life. It teaches conflict resolution skills. Then again these days EVERYTHING is labeled as bullying. It’s sad really. Sure the kids are safe and have high self esteem but then when they leave college, they have no idea how to deal with a bully and they are in their twenties.
I don t know man.I was bullied for four years, rarely physically but a lot of insults, remarks and exclusion by some 4 or 5 shits who bullied mostly anyone. Those were bad years, esp. the first 2 but I managed to survive this bullying. Have I become stronger?I do not think so.I just stopped trusting people and became less social. I shaped my personality in University where I become a cruel, heartless jock. So yeah,I really think bullying is not helping you in any way. There was this kid in my class who was also bullied by those shits(most of them are now failures) and let me tell you, they beat him up mercilessly everyday, they even managed to kick him in the jaw that the guy actually bit his tongue, they stepped on his head and drew dicks on his face, they even forced him to eat dirt with milk. That guy commited suicide at 19 because he was so far behind refusing to go to school for two years and the fact that his mother left him and his father was a garbage man didn t helped at all....Draw the conclusion.
schools in the real world would tell the bully to say he was sorry and then cheer like they cured cancer assume everything is going to be fine and dandy now, while the bully will now have more motivation.
And that bullying that Carl suffered that day may have made him the most well rounded and put together person on this show... ... or well, at least currently
With Carl’s upbringing it’s no surprise he was able to kick the asses of kids that were twice his size sure they were both cheap shots but the fact that he did so with no hesitation and still talked shit to them afterwards really shows Frank is right, also loved how Carl seems cool with the fact Frank basically insulted him and saying he has no real future.
Imagine raping/robbing/physically assaulting someone and going to court: "Your honor, but they will get tougher in life, I was actually doing them a favor" Judge: "Wow you were actually doing community service, you are free to go, watch your step as you leave and have a good day Sir!"

I'm been in theatre, I'm published poems under various names, I've SET UP Bonfire Parties
When I was 17 I drove from my home town over three days to a national park and hunted and saw wilderness and everything with my friends
I am the best that I am now Because of those Very People who made me think I was nothing and a nobody!
And because I chose to Rise rather than commit suicide!
Where are those people now?
One is a registered sex offender, three have done time, and they were in their 20s when they went in so yeah I'd say they were the bitches in prison, another was a lawyer and rich, got depression from having to defend scum that he lost his job and fortune and penthouse and ended up in a psychiatric ward - the very place he said I should be when we were kids
I wish him well though I hope he turns out ok
and another committed suicide - hung himself and ironically he was best friends with that ex-lawyer guy and he had told me I should kill myself
Strangely I feel no sense of victory over those two, they had happen to them what they said would happen to me
Safari For Fun of Soul sound like sweet justice to me. I hate bullies
hope my advise helped you Kent
your enemies hurt can make or break you
but dont be afriad to get help - getting help is what started me out
I own a house with no mortgage and a unit that I rent out
I am secure I am experienced
You can say fuck life or fuck trying ot you can say FUCK IT - get out, get help and dont be suprised or ashamed if you fall back at first - it happened to me about 4 times and that is the hardest part
work out a strategy - physiologists NOT leftist councellors they are fucking useless!
get away find a martial art
I hated sports before but exercise makes endorphines in your mind and fittness is essential
yoiu can do it kent!
I love Frank's rants
So, if you want to get somewhere else, then you need to change the direction you are going, otherwise]... you'll be lucky if you don't get gonorrhea from your cell mate."
The bully will have a lot on his mind from this perspective which has now been inseminated into his brain by this Frank character. The bully simply didn't look at it this way ever before. Now he will.
And to the others, including the kids, the school authorities and the parents, he said: "[I came here to give my son a lesson, and by doing so, I am helping you get rid of this problem while teaching all of you a thing or two]... You're welcome."
So, when Frank said: "spoken with love, son", he was really sincere... because wisdom is love, and that is what he just delivered to him... and anyone else who is smart enough to understand.
This is a great lesson in which everybody learned.
This is the best game... in which everybody wins.
What if I want to cure cancer?
You'd be lucky if you got Gonorrhea from your cell mate, spoken with love son.
0:23 that had to be one of those unplanned laughs that they decided to keep in
i just realized this foreshadowed carl getting gonorhea
man thanks for uploading this part...
BRO THE LAST PART GOT ME LAUGHING SO HARD TO THE POINT I TEARED UP HE WENT SO FAST
She said "I eam so proowd of you deead"
There was so much foreshadowing to Carl in the later seasons here .. everything he said actually happened
"what if I wanna cure cancer"
That's honestly so sad.
He just died last night from a heart attack 😔😔😔 RIP to him.
We will forever love him and miss his smartassery ❤️❤️❤️
dawg the ending tho
Frank just predicted Carl’s future before us 😮
This is so hard to argue against
Frank gives the “best” life lessons
Frank is the ultimate prophet of our time. His knows all the truth. His words are full of wisdom and he speaks with faith at heart
Wen Frank said my son will be picking up garbage in 10 years it happened in season 10
I needed to hear this speech.
He’s giving both sides a lessons. Nerds keep doing what they’re doing & it’ll be fine. His kid keeps up his act, he’ll be at the bottom.
William H. Macy was snubbedddd
Not a false word spoken. Way to go Frank.
That’s the lady who made the “shit pie” in scary movie, LOL!
Love this show.
Why is everyone fighting about which show is best, I mean seriously ?!
Yes at first we could compare them since they had really close plot (especially in season 1) but now I'm pretty sure Shameless US deviate in lof of way from the UK version ( The plot for Fiona for exemple). They are different tv shows ( My favorite character is not the same in the UK and the US, they are different now since they don't have the same story ...)
Preach
+Steve Wilson That bitchiness is why you'll always get your ass whooped even when you're a 35 year old man
+Matt Josh lol you're right
+Matt Josh lol you're right
+Matt Josh lol you're right
1:38 welp Frank saw the latest season
He's right about some parts but it's more complex than that,
being bullied trains the victim to get used to that specific environment and that isn't automatically a positive thing, for example if the kid is being bullied for being ethical and respectful and turns into someone who is rude and threatening in order to survive in that environment then it could completely ruin his/her future in the workplace and university.
So it really depends, the positive is that they might learn what is considered social norms but the negative is they might pick up behaviors that keeps them from being successful in life.
The way frank actually predicted Carl picking up trash in a orange jumpsuit
I need a father like Frank 😂😂😂😂😂
Really??? Yikes
Queen Maya Frank basically Called his son a failure
That guy commited suicide at 19 because he was so far behind refusing to go to school for two years and the fact that his mother left him and his father was a garbage man didn t helped at all....Draw the conclusion.
i loved how they filmed in my school like why do i find that funny
Crazy how Carl a cop now😂
Little does Frank know lol his son is gonna become a cop lol
I Like the fact the Carl didn’t seem to care about the fact Frank basically shitted all over him.
I love how he mentioned him picking up garbage in a orange jumpsuit does anyone else get that reference.
Frank halfway predicted Carl’s future
1:50 he predicted Dom and guided Carl towards the right path
schools in the real world would tell the bully to say he was sorry and then cheer like they cured cancer assume everything is going to be fine and dandy now, while the bully will now have more motivation.
frank foreshadowed two things of carls future the gonorrhea and picking up trash
Truer words were never said.
well if bullying makes you ready for the world than falling of a cliff makes you fly.
Imagine raping/robbing/physically assaulting someone and going to court: "Your honor, but they will get tougher in life, I was actually doing them a favor"
Judge: "Wow you were actually doing community service, you are free to go, watch your step as you leave and have a good day Sir!"
He was just talking abt bullying. Chill. And if you go through that n stay alive, it makes u even tougher on the inside.
He was talking about bullying. Stop reaching.
@@kashmirigirl22 it's literally the same thing
I love the rants, but Jesus Christ there are people here that genuinely agree with him on that, and that's just stupid.
Frank Gallagher is my own personal Jesus!
It's crazy how Lip gets his Intelligence from Frank. Frank may be the smartest person on the whole show. If not for his fuck ups lol.
Yes it is dumbass
Bro frank said everything that eventually happened to Carl
Spoken with love son😅
I will always argue that this is the best season of shameless
“Bullying is a vital part of every ecosystem. It teaches kids resilience.” I mean he’s not wrong😂
The best part about this rant is that he is absolutely not wrong at all. I was bullied to elementary school middle school and high school and now I’m in my mid 30s and I have dated some of the most gorgeous women and my bullies are all fat and have had over five children, and some of them have even lost most of their hair on top of their heads And they look miserable as hell so trust me if you’re getting bullied believe this guy he absolutely knows what he’s talking about 💯😂
anyone know how to summarize this into a school appropriate response for my sociology class? a question on one of my assignments made me think of this rant of Frank’s lol.
1:25 It explains why Cardi B is where she is today and Taylor swift too
Frank is a jerk, but he's not wrong
