I've been following your build for a wile and it has helped me a lot! Thank you very much for showing us your work. Any progress on the stucco? I am currently getting ready to do stucco over cement board but have been waiting for you to show how to properly do it. Thank you again.
Thanks for watching and the encouraging comment. I finished the stucco over a month ago, just haven't had much time for editing. I did use a bonding agent on the cement boards, embedded stucco mesh into the base coat and ended up doing 2 semi-smooth color coats on most of it. Had some challenges getting it even and smooth the first time but learned a few tricks and had better results with the second coat. I used a 20/30 color stucco mix, which is applied at 1/8" thickness, so it started to dry rather quickly. Using a red foam float immediate after applying it gave me the best results. Hopefully I can find some time to edit and get the video out soon, I may do a quick video this weekend to show the results, you are not the first person to ask about it.
Corner bead and drip screed attached first. I embedded the stucco mesh into the base coat, I didn't get the self-adhesive type, so it didn't stick to the cement board. But I think it worked better to put on about 1/4" of base coat, stick the mesh into the stucco, then add another 1/8" of stucco. I would overlap the mesh around the corners.
I applied a concrete bonding agent to the cement boards, added a drip screed around the countertops and a wire mesh to the corner. I have some fiberglass mesh to embed into the base coat of stucco. I'll be doing a 20/30 semi smooth colored stucco coat. Hopefully I can get to it this week.
I had to get some other projects finished and some work got in the way. I have all the materials and have done most the prep work...I think. Should be starting shortly...then there is the "editing" video part. Thanks for asking.
Where did you get the plan or design for this fireplace? Very cool.
Thanks, I did the design myself.

@@BruBuilds Awesome, thank you soo much! Did you use anything on the corners like metal corners?
Thank you again.
Yes I put wire corner beads on the lower corner and used a drip screed along all the countertops.
@@BruBuilds Last question, did you install the corner bead under or over the mesh? And thank you soo much for your help.

Thanks for the update! Will you add a certain type of mesh before stucco? What methods will you take to prevent cracking? Thanks!

This is great. Have you done the stucco yet? Would love to see how you do this! What kind of mesh/stucco products you use, etc. Thanks!

This is going to be nice when it's done!
Just a few more things to finish
You are giving me terrible ideas!! I don’t want any more projects.😅😅 Thanks for your detailed explanations.
Hahaha, I know the feeling. Have fun.
