There is a funny thing I discovered once about this song. I stumbled upon this song for the first time in a very bizarre way by browsing through GTA 3 audio files (SDT/RAW soundbanks), where short, looped and muffed version of this song can be found (the sample itself is about 1-2 seconds long). And at that time I had no idea that the original version exists and it's a part of GTA 1 soundtrack. There are actually more songs from GTA 1 (and some other that I couldn't identify) hidden inside of GTA 3 as an ambient sounds for "house party" songs that can be heard if you walk near the brown apartment buildings in Red Light District or Luigi's club. The ambient songs are picked randomly too.
Yeah there is a song in GTA3 that briefly plays a section of what I have always considered to be the GTA theme. Joyride by the Shootaz. I have no clue why they didn't have that song in like every GTA game. Honestly!
Bloody hell this takes me back. Written and performed by Craig Conner, makes me think yet again he should have formed a real band and got out of that studio, instead he chose to stay and make millions with Rockstar lol. Wait.....
I heartily concur. That riff is absolutely infectious, and the drumbeat is godly, could listen to that loop all day! (Primal Scream used it similarly on "Rocks" - I wonder if Craig Conner was inspired by that song when he wrote this?) R* really need to bring some of these OG tracks back. It'd be so awesome if they rerecorded it with a full band for GTA VI.
Listening to quiet music can seriously damage your credibility I can hear a sweet sound Comin outta my mouth Don't make much sense But it helps to pay the rent You could be ma lady You could drive me crazy Drivin in ma fast car If you think you'd go that far I'd like to ask you something baby I'd like to tell you what I'm thinking Aha But I can't find the words to let it out, let it out No, I can't find the words to let it out, let it out Woohoooo, yeah yeah [x3] We can take the top down [we can take the top down] and let them see what I've found [let them see what I've found] Slide my clutch up You could shift them up and down I'd like to see you naked baby (giggles) I'd like to pin you to the ground Ooohhh lala - lalalalala But I can't find the words to let it out, let it out No, I can't find the words to let it out, let it out I can't find the words to let it out, let it out No, I can't find the words to let it out, let it out I can't find the words to let it out, let it out I can't find the words to let it out Can't someone please tell me the story of morning glory? Man, what a banger! Such a great riff and that Sly & the Family Stone drum sample is timeless - Primal Scream also made excellent use of it. I wish R* would bring back some of these songs. I love all the licensed tracks but it'd be cool to see more originals again (though I guess there's been quite a few new tracks made for GTA Online, but I can't stand that game... they're also mostly the same generic trap-pop, there's not much variety). I know they used a very muffled version of this particular track in GTA III as an ambient sound emanating from certain buildings. They have been incorporating a lot of references to the 2D games in recent Online updates, so perhaps they'll dig out some of these old tracks for GTA VI. They could even remake them with full bands - as opposed to one guy working with a DAW - that could potentially be interesting.
Correct. Craig Connor and the other musically talented Rockstar devs made all these songs from thin air. They had no budget for music licensing and they didn't want real music in the game.
I guess it's just a preference thing, it's just as good as I remember it. Then again I'm probably much younger, so I haven't been separated from it as long.

Great find! I had no idea GTA III even *had* ambient music! It's been like...12 years since I last played that game.
Exactly! it's the sound sample used to the convertible cars, only used in the PC version.

@@xxPEvexx the full song is in 3
It is also used in GTA4, go past a house with lights on at night and there is a good chance you will hear the loop from this song.

Lads this is a song. Can you believe it stood the test of time? I can. Because wherever there is creativity there is chance.
Such a classic 90s alternative rock vibe
Best song from first GTA
Kamil Misiaszek Next to "Joyride" by Da Shootaz :)
That's right :)
I totally agree, best song from GTA games, I used to park up when this song came on the radio in the game!

The ballad of chap lips Calhoun wins it for me

Woohoooo, yeah yeah [x3]
We can take the top down [we can take the top down]
and let them see what I've found [let them see what I've found]
Slide my clutch up You could shift them up and down
I'd like to see you naked baby (giggles)
I'd like to pin you to the ground
Ooohhh lala - lalalalala

brings back alot of sweet Memories 😊☺️
I’m an original GTA player from the beginning I honestly just wanted to hear this in 2021 still a great song!
My brother figured out recently that 2:03 is a sample from the music video of "Groove is in the Heart", crazy find.
Such good music for a 90s game. Brings abut memories; this and complications
still in love with this gem
Love this song!!
The main sample of this song is "Dance to the music" by Sly and The Family Stone.
Much like "Rocks off" by Primal Scream
I think the intro samples Skeewiff-The Thin Line also released 1997
Oh yea! Good catch!
awesome since the first one gta has awesome songs!!!
Recuerdo esta canción cuando me subía al auto Thunderhead en GTA 1.Un clásico.
Song blaring from the bulldog car in this game
The best track from GTA 1
This and Complications
played GTA 5, remembered the music and came back here!!!
2023
drum loop is from Zero G disc 3, drumloop 140
Originally from a Sly & the Family Stone track
Both the band and the song were created just for the game, am I right?
Correct. Craig Connor and the other musically talented Rockstar devs made all these songs from thin air. They had no budget for music licensing and they didn't want real music in the game.
Yup Craig Connor boi
Who plays the guitar? Colin Anderson or Craig Conner?
2:03 sampled from What Is Love by Deee Lite
It's actually "Groove is in the Heart" by that same band 😁

coool
Sounds bit like The Clash.
and Spice girls lol
Kinda sounds more like something Big Audio Dynamite would do, with all the effects and the female vocals. But the guitar is definitely Clash style.
Didn't sounds like Spice girls? Stop by now thank u very much...lol
They're both from 1997!
I've been trying to find this song for almost two decades now... It's not as good as I remember.
