I made 408 whp on a freshly rebuilt B18B1 and it ran mint, but like dude said, I knew better and ran ARP head studs and a new Cometic MLS head gasket as well as ARP rod studs and a GSR oil pump.
@@boosted_donkey Really, the B18C1 is a fairly high compression engine, so it'll handle 300+ whp, but nobody knows anything about this engine, how well it was taken care of, or the condition of the bearings and rings, so it's anyone's guess. If I had to say anything, Rudnik will probably end up spinning a bearing because he'll do some stupid shit like put 5w20 in it when he should be running at least 10w40. I run 15w40 in my turbo Honda engines to cushion the bearings.
I have a GSR trans in my racecar with a LSD, but I got sick of being at 5k rpm at 80 MPH on the highway when it was my daily, so I put a LS 5th gear in mine.
From my understanding, the b18c1 has a deeper oil pickup and b18a/b and b20 has a shallower one. If you put the b20 pan on, you would need to run the b20 pickup as well
If you want that GSR motor to last, throw some ARP head studs and rod bolts in it. And the B20 pan will not fit the B18, GSR motors have a crank girdle and the pan is visibly different than LS/B20 pans.

I gotta admit when I first met Sammit in the OG days I wasn’t a fan... but now after his corona lockdown I’ve really grown to like the dude.. he’s earned his spot as part of the crew
You have to get new oil pan for GSR. B18A/B18B B20 oil pan bolt pattern are same as gsr but the oil pick ups are different so they will not fit. I recommend jus buying moroso oil pan for all b series
the b18 will make high 300 whp as is at 14 psi and weld a new return onto the b18 pan ! b20 pans fit but the oil pick up will need to be swapped over aswell!
If you have a crank girdle, you need a b18c (p72) pan. The b20 one will be too shallow to clear the girdle. Can't remember now but I think all vtec b18s had a girdle
The oil pans will interchange but you will have to use the b20 oil pickup if you use the b20 pan just I would just use the GSR pan and weld the bung on the right way from the insiden so you don't have any leaks
B20 boosted get a bad wrap because of the thin cylinder walls and the early b20s have valve seat issues. The bearings are the same between the b20 and the b18.
LS, B20 and B16 oil pans are the same. GSR, ITR are the same, but deeper because of the girdle. unless you use a girdle on an ls/b20 block, using the b18c pickup with its shorter legs (for proper mounting/fitment on the girdle) isn't an option.
I wouldnt swap it as the pickup may be diffrent. Tried it in a d15b vtec and a d16z6 and the d15b one wouldnt allow any oil to pickup I had to swap the oil pickup tube as well to make it work. Just weld a new bung.
Chris, do yourself a favor and get ARP head studs and a Cometic or JE Pro Seal MLS head gasket for that engine before you turbo it. I've seen people run stock head bolts on a turbo setup, but you know nothing about that engine, and anything more than 10-ish psi and the stock head bolts will stretch. Find a B18C1 oil pan and weld a new STEEL bung into it, the B18C1 has a different windage tray than the B20. Also, make sure that you run AT LEAST 10w40 in your turbo engine and a bottle of an oil additive that has ZDDP (zinc) in it and it'll cushion the bearings from the added load. I really wish I knew how to tag you in this because I have alot of experience with turbo Hondas. My name should say it all...
Remember to get an aftermarket map sensor if you want to run more than 11.27psi. Stock sensor cant read above that. That b18 will make some respectable power 👍 also no need for arp studs as long as its a good tune, head wont lift.
Upgraded brakes, put disk brakes in the rear , and you'll have to wire vtec in the ecu and get a dam Hondata the current version and tune it properly, do supporting mods like exhaust intake manifold, and ITBs, and fuel system itll be an animal all motor
Make sure you hook up vtec👀 it’ll be worth it. 12:56 And some people say yes and some people say no. GSR oil pans are shorter from b20/Ls oil pans so your oil pickup wouldn’t be able to reach all of the oil.
Leave the GSR pan on. It’s baffled. B20s don’t come baffled. Also if you want good power you can piston and rod the gsr and make 500 on stock sleeves. Only if you want to though. It can still make 300+ on stock block
You can’t swap distributors, one is V-TEC specific and the other isn’t. Do not swap oil pans because the oil pick up tubes are different and the baffles are also different. Careful with the C1, they like to spin rod bearings when pushed too hard. I wouldn’t push it past 300 whp on Jacks dynometer.
Ruddy, it actually takes more time to do the swap then you get seat time in the car lol. I really hope you’re gonna do a legit build with the CRX. AWD K series would be badass...

Yeah never boost a stock B20. They never last, rods are always the weak point in them. They're good na stock or with bolt one but any forced induction and they give up. Hits redline at the very minimum of 3 times per trip. Sometimes every single shift (until desired speed is reached) if im feeling froggy. The camry 5s-fe is more likely to rod knock than a 4a/7a in the corolla and celica though. They run forever if its mild driving, but they dont like being beat on as much as the a-series.
