Great review. I really like the updates that Alpha One Niner made on this pack. I just picked up a CTB26 and don't regret it at all, but this updated version of the Evade would have really been a contender when I was making the decision on which pack to go with.
😅 I was about to buy cbt26. It looks a bit too big for my edc? What do you think. I'm going to carry gym clothes. My portable keyboard, iPad pro, keys, wallet two phones, gum, a knife, two wireless earbuds, power cord with wall charger. Would cbt26 be overkill for just that?
@@Nutsackfart it might be a little big for EDC. I got it more for travel as a carryon for a short trip or personal item for a longer trip. Would definitely hold everything you mentioned and more. Even if it's a little large for that use case, it might be flexible for times you need some additional space.
How interesting, I bought the CTB26, I will be replacing it with this bag when it comes out. The Evergoods is almost perfect, except for the terrible design where it digs into your bag. They refuse to acknowledge this issue...
Looks like a HUGE improvement over the old version. Slicker, easier to use, lighter, but still customizable. The Velcro in the laptop compartment is particularly interesting: can the entire panel be removed?
Thank you for watching! It doesn’t look like the full panel can be removed just opened enough to be able to access your device without having to go through the top
Thanks Danny! Love the features of this new Evade 1.5 bag (and the Whitley)! A19 does great work. However, for the price of Evade 1.5, I was able to customize a GR136 Northseeker 25L in multicam black and add the GR136 padded laptop sleeve insert. It's like a cross between the old Evade and newer Whitley with a little Evergoods CPL influence on the face of the bag. Now we wait for the bag to be built. I see you reviewed a few GR136 bags a few years ago. I would suggest checking out the Northseeker EDC backpack and maybe the Metromonger or Mission Attache for smaller cross body EDC.
Thank you for watching and great to hear you’ve been liking the north seeker! That looks great and I’m definitely a fan of greenroom136s bags so I’m sure it’s a solid alternative to this one
It kind of reminds me of and Aer crossed with a Able Carry. Love the option of being able to add or remove many of the feature this really allows you to customize the bag for your needs and change them on any particular use. Cant wait to see a full review and where you rank it verse other bags.
Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! I have a head radical 98in racquet that fits nicely, if it’s larger than that it might not fit
Has been extensively using that secret pocket for years. So disappointed that they removed it in the new version. I hope they still sell the previous version.
Great review. Does the main compartment offer additional depth compared to the previous version with the removal of the CCW pocket and updated laptop pocket? If so, how much? Thanks.
Thank you for watching and I’m glad the video was helpful! The main compartment on this one is indeed quite a bit deeper without the CCW and laptop compartment
Is this bag water-resistant or waterproof? Really looking for a 25L backpack with origination, which is also waterproof or water-resistant that doesn’t break the wallet.
Hi Danny, I know the specs are the same, but it looks an inch or two shorter than the previous edition, which I hope. The last edition seemed big for an EDC. Please confirm. Thank you
Thank you for watching! I would say they are pretty much the same height so if you felt like the older one was a little too big this one will likely feel similar
Thank you for watching! This is definitely a solid alternative to those, it’s closer to the CTB both in size and features imo since its a pretty large bag (feels bigger than the CPL24 by a good amount), it has the dual water bottle pockets and it has a luggage strap. I do prefer the look and layout of the CtB a bit but find the harness on the evade more comfortable than both evergoods bags
None of the other reviews I've watched show the bag with those 6 side loops on the inside main compartment of the bag. They aren't shown in the photos on the website either. I'd love to use them for internal compression like if I put in a packing cube. Do you think that's a new feature added since the last manufacture?
Oddly for some reason they didn't change the freakin name of the bag either. Last year's version was also the evade 1.5. Why couldn't they name it the 2.0? Is that so hard?
@@jcap8391the 2.0 i believe is a 30L version of the bag and has been out for quite some time. This iteration of the bag is considered “the new generation” 1.5 evade.
Thank you for watching! I can’t say for certain as I imagine it wills depend on the specific laptop model but height wise it feels like it would fit

Looks more like a downgraded cheapened version. Hard to find a change which is not a cost cut or a downgrade. Very sad they discontinued the original one. I understand how some reviewers could name the original the GOAT EDC. New version is just some another faceless 'streamlined' featureless mid-tier bag. Only the suspension system may draw some attention.
Thanks so much@@dannypacks for the reply and for your amazing reviews! Another question I'm interested in is how "vertically compressible" these two backpack are (e.g. to make them fit under the seat of low cost airlines).
Thank you for watching! I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get one of those to try but like the other comment said, the main differences seem to be the sizing and maybe some leather accenting on the handle?
Thank you for watching! They’re pretty simialr but one thing I notice is that the older pockets expand outward a bit more whereas the ones in this version push the water bottle inwards a bit which might take up a little extra space in the main compartment
You sound mad about the terrible conceal carry compartment that was taken off. It was a regular pocket that most people didn't use. I'm glad they took away the military I hate civilization kinda look.
@@Nutsackfart you didn't understand anything, bottom straps removed. pouch not included. pals panel not included. the straps and the beaver tail must also be purchased separately. the patch was also removed in itself more than 450 euros in Europe to have something correct that's no
@@Nutsackfart Glad you're apparently the thought police. you must surely have been delighted in 1939. You have your opinion and I have mine. take off. For information I use the bottom straps to attach a tarp, beaver tail for a small sleeping bag. a velcro plate for different positions of all my EDC and which I can remove with one hand. as for the patch I like personalized my bags
Danny! You're the GOAT for this🤙🤙
Thank you for watching and for the support! :)
I am looking forward to your review. I bought the Evade almost a year ago. Alpha One Niner makes great bags

Supposedly the water bottle pockets can go up to a 32 hydroflask... But hard to tell 🤔
They can
Thank you for watching and like the other comment mentioned, it does feel like they can
Compare please to the 1.0x
It’s larger (deeper) and has more material options.

So they removed features to save money and you have to buy the original features back as add ons.... no thanks
evolution? No. fewer features at an extra price, that’s no!
