Does Malaysia have strict emissions regulations or did BMW give the Malaysian spec X1 a more economical and gutless engine? Most X1s have a 228 horsepower turbocharged four cylinder engine.
Steven Mirek The 228hp is the 25i or 25d engine which is not available in Malaysia. The 20i engine strikes a nice balance between power and fuel efficiency.
I actually quite like the looks of the Li model as well. After all, it just has longer rear doors and a longer wheelbase. Looks the same design-wise to me.
I think the exhaust depends on the engine group. For the gasoline engine if you get the 1.5 L 3 cyl engine it would be a single exhaust while 2.0 L 4 cyl engine will be double exhaust no matter which trim you choose.
As explained, if you go for I believe the 16d, 18d, and 18i models, you get a single exhaust. Go for the 20i, 25i, 20d, and 25d models, and you get dual exhausts. This should be regardless of the trim and whether the car is sDrive or xDrive.
+PetrolHeadTraveller03 I'm inclined to think it is as it has all the Sport Line equipment (rims, red dashboard trim, sport seats), however, the official brochure, spec sheet and launch details do not mention the Sport Line trim. It's just sold as the X1 sDrive20i in Malaysia.

CMIIW, Are you sure the rear disc brake is ventilated? Because my X1 sDrive 18i has a solid disc with drum parking brakes in it.
Yes. Ventilated discs all round.
Got to drive the XDrive 28i here in US, it's so good. If only it's sold in Malaysia.
The F48 doesn't have the 28i model, but I'm gonna assume it's going to be quite powerful in the X1.
