Test drove this X1 last week at the dealer, nice looking car, ride and handling was very good engine felt strong only problem was the amount of noise that was in the cabin, mostly from the tires and some wind noise coming from the window, it was not very refined for it price range. So I bought a used 2015 X3 instead.
+manifest 73 Same experience for me. But I eventually bought new X1 because of great deal I got. If I didn't get it for good price then used x3 would have been my choice.

It's nice that it has a larger interior space, too bad it's just a Mini Cooper Clubman in different sheetmetal. The original X1 was a nice driving car based on RWD platform, but it wasn't big enough for me.
Nice review. I'm guessing that BMW didn't want you taking this on your off-road course. Can you see about doing a review on the new X3 as well as the new X5. BMW's have the X-Drive system which has proven to really be the one to beat, but it would be nice to see how it performed in a semi-off road situation. Thanks!

+Constantine Joseph love BMW but for 2017 cars they are lowering the maintnance warranty to 3 years/ 36000 miles and they are removing brakes and clutch from their plan, which means alot of money to replace during the warranty specially for an M6. Tell me what did you buy?

You think I'd let that slip? Look Dave, it's backseat head- and legroom, front seat back pockets, rear center armrest with cup holders, aaaaand... OH BLANK HANDLES! It's your winning formula everytime!
BMW's heads up display works just fine but there is a catch. If you have to replace the windshield the charge is over 1000 dollars. If you buy a knock off windshield you may get ghosting of the image. I'll not buy another car with heads up.

+Everyman Driver I thought it wasn't bad, I drove it and was tight better than the Mini Countryman .(aka same platform) but in deed better. Very quit on everyday driving / was disappointed no Diesel! Yet! But the sales guy said may or may not he wasn't sure. I would love to see it ! In Europe of course it is available now, getting in. Near 40mpg range! Plus all that torque. Only real gripe shoulder support a bit lacking , I have wide shoulders, I hate Audi's never any support. This wasn't to bad but for long trips could use more shoulder support.

I saw the rear seats on the 2016 X1 slide forward and backwards to allow for more storage. Nice feature.
