I don’t understand why some people dislike Em so much. He’s a great MC and many other great MCs respect him. His music isn’t for everyone and I understand that but some people will go lengths to try to discredit him. I don’t get down with Drake’s music but I recognize he can rap but his music just isn’t for me. Not liking an artist is fine but when spend your whole waking moments trying to bash that artist, you have a problem
... Put simply, it's one of the effects of the more extreme "-isms" of those who can't take a joke or laugh at absurdity (racism, sexism, feminism, etc). For some, all i can say is I disagree but I respect your opinion due to your personal truama.... For some others? It's "grow the f up, seriously, it this ain't that serious people". And I think the rest is largely covered under either self-image issues and/or extreme jealousy. Though there are a tiny fraction of people that I think hate on Em, not because they hate him but rather because they know it lights a fire under his ass (eg: Bully, Marshall Mathers LP, TES, Kamakazie,etc) so they think they are helping Em (in their own twisted way, and honestly, in a way they are given how Em is to adveristy), although at the end of the day, I think it's a bit overdone and has been going for a very, very long time.
Oh, almost forgot that there are some who just genuinely don't understand and are too close minded, perception too handicapped, to realize Em's talent (or just simply cannot comprehend why people like him so much). To the former, that's generally teenagers/early adult when we still got all our ego and hormones (not all of them, but a good chunk, we were the same way, I'm nearly 40 now myself). To the latter, however, I don't hold it against them as these types are usually those that have a hard time with music in general (eg: those that just don't listen to music) which is typically common in thouse who suffer from certain mental illnesses like autism/aspergers for example (I have what used to be called Asperger's Syndrome, but I was lucky as I could have been far worse off). A lot of people can't actually appreciate the writing genuis and musical genius that Eminem is, he's basically a modernday version of a Bheetoven and Skakespear (or maybe one of the literary greats of the 19th/20th century such as Mark Twain), but the details are debatable.
This turned out to be longer than I was intending 😅 Just wante to cover as many bases as I could because everyone has their own perceptions and they vary vastly. Some reasons are obvious while others are invisible. Unfortunately though, in current times, I believe the first thing I said is by far the biggest, especially racism and sexism/femenist hate (against Em), on some levels I don't blame them for their hate as what a person's evironment and cultural history is has been shown that it can make things prejudicial for those coming later. Only thing one can do at that is to continue to work towards lighting up the dark corners of our ignorance with everyone. Life is a process of learning and growing that never stops after all.🤷♂
