Hi Jack, Brilliant video mate, I actually agree mostly with your predictions. I also think Oxford and Portsmouth will stay up. Can't wait for the season and will be watching eagerly every week. Keep up the Outstanding work you're doing mate
Really well researched video, will more than take that as a Bristol City fan think we’ll be slightly lower but I agree with your assessment that we should be challenging playoffs!
Love the thought process behind some of these Jack !!! , as a Coventry Fan I am so so so confident this year, we have done wonders with the money gained from the Gyokeres sale, the firepower we have looks so strong but we have a solid defence with a promising looking Keeper. That being said, while I am confident we can push for the automatics, I believe we will get Play-offs. However, i am very excited to see how the new boys will do in the division, I really like Oxford under Buckingham but believe they are the weakest team heading into this season (of those 3 promoted teams). With all of this being said, I think my "Dark-Horses" this season is Bristol City. Now I think Manning is a really positive fit for them, I love the signings so far, especially Max Bird even though I am aware that was done mid way through the season just gone and think they can utilise them really well under the manager. Finally, my 3 to be relegated are Derby, Blackburn and Oxford, as much as I like all 3 of them, I think they are just not strong enough for a highly competitive league, now I am not saying they are bad teams, but this level of football is so so tight and the adjustment to the league has proven difficult for Paul Warne in the past, Blackburn are in a mess in regards to ownership and Oxford havent been here for such a long time and just dont look positive enough for me.
I'm so glad we (Derby and Oxford) went up together to hopefully get your well put together reviews throughout the championship season Keep up the good work and good luck to Oxford
Great video Jack, just found your channel, looking forward to listening to your podcast throughout the season! I’m a Boro content creator and I couldn’t agree more with Boro and Coventry. Both sides went through a season of pain last year bringing in new players to replace BIG players, and this season were both in a fantastic position to kick on and give playoffs a proper go this season whereas lots of other playoff challenges are going through relative squad and manager changes. Great video man!
I'll take 11th for Wednesday, thank you! If we can finish top half this season, stabilise the ship and then push on for promotion to PL in a season or two, that would be great. We're still to thin up top with no real firepower and if we can't score goals, it'll be another season of losing even games simply because we're not scoring. But really hoping and believing Danny Röhl is the man for us! Up the Owls!
Realistically Oxford have had the best incomings of any team in the efl, a good manager and a good run. I really see us hanging around a Bristol city in low mid table
The Ox are staying up, or at least I'll do everything in my power to cheer us over the line haha. Great commentary on the current Championship affairs, Jack. These videos are always interesting even just a few days hence given the transfer window but I think there's a lot agree with which will hold fairly true regardless.
Personally can’t understand why so many people expect us (Cardiff) to go backwards this season, finally kept a manger past a season good signings like Willock, Kanga and most likely El Ghazi (although to be fair that’s only just come out) not to mention Chambers in defence, I personally think we definitely have a chance of making playoffs
As a Stoke fan, I agree with everything you said, we need a season of calmness and to get an identity back of some sort, I wouldn't be happy with 16th though, 12th and above will do me
As a Millwall fan I’m not as assured as you, think at this time we’re weaker than last season,a few more signings might change my opinion I’ll go 17/18th at the moment in a relegation scrap.
I think all three, including us (Pompey) will struggle this season. Whilst we have made some sound additions with signing more Aussies to go with our growing contingent. We've not replaced Robertson and more importantly Kamara so look woefully light on attacking options in the squad. I'd like to have seen us sign Dembele who was on loan from Blackpool
@@TheJackWardFootballPodcast Apparently the deal didn't go through with Cardiff for him, so it's a possibility. Great to hear from you mate - fantastic comment. Very detailed! Sorry about the prediction - let’s wait and see. I just thought you might have gone with a slightly safer option than Wayne Rooney after the close call last season. I might be proved wrong and the risk might pay off. Good luck
Honestly think Blackburn won’t be as bad as most are predicting. Yes, it’s not been great, we haven’t been proactive. But we haven’t really lost any key players, and most fans would say last year was probably an underperformance, the squad is better than it showed. Won’t be great, but can’t see us going down.

Despite finishing 6th last season they were often dreadful, and IMO David Wagner had them playing a style which didn't suit them at all. The football philosophy of Johannes Hoff Thorup should fit the team like a glove, and therefore I think that he'll have his ideas implemented quite quickly without the need of a season of transistion. In any case, the squad as it is now is easily good enough to finish in the top six again, but I think they'll go further than that. Despite the recent good signings at Sheffield U I think it'll take time to banish all the negativity from last season, plus I must admit that I'm not sure if Chris Wilder is the right man to turn things around. Yes, he got them into the PL some years ago, and the 9th finish was impressive. That said, everything he's done since then has gone pear-shaped. So I'm not convinced at all.
I'll have to say, watford and cardiff in/near relegation is a piss take tbh, both are 100% going to be mid-table, I think Cardiff maybe be near playoffs given they make the signings they're hoping to, they already signed Kanga as a striker, def having a fairly stronger squad than last year, given Ramsey stays fit for more than just a few games, could also be massive for them.

@@TheJackWardFootballPodcast Yes, sorry Jack. Marvellous achievement for your lads to get into the Championship but as we (Argyle) found out last year it’s one helluva step up in quality from league one. (Ipswich bucked that though). Optimistically I’ve upped us a few places, more in hope than anything that Wayne Rooney might have found his managerial mojo with us. If Blackburn lose Szmodics they will struggle. If we get off to a poor start, we will struggle. Not going to be easy for Portsmouth & Derby either unless they have pots of cash to spend. Good luck, like most neutrals I hope I’m wrong and you make it at the expense of one of the northern clubs which always makes our travel easier😀⚽️💚⚽️
Cardiff at 20th is a tad odd, especially since we've picked up el ghazi today (but that's today not yesterday) I think though we're gonna finish higher than that ngl.
@@HZWY_Records Yes I based that one purely on the fact we actually outplayed you in both games last year. Should have won easily at your place. Your team didn’t look strong but still managed to finish mid table. It was a crazy league. Two of the three teams up have pedigree and I can see them surviving but only just.
@steviebgooder yes but if you take a look at the squad last season vs this season, you'd find that most of our losses were based off the fact that we didn't have a striker that could put the ball into the net with succession, compare that squad to this squad if we do get a no.8 we'll hopefully push through to top 10 atleast.
They will be good yet they need to bring in some quality where they have dinged out players for money. Anyway, good luck, I’ll see you at elland road first game of the season. All the best, Pompey Fan.

@@TheJackWardFootballPodcast As cool as it would be for Oxford to prove me wrong I just don't think they'll avoid relegation this season, sadly
Agree they are the most logical predictions I have read so far. As a Derby fan will just be happy to keep out of the bottom three tbh. Average age of the squad is lower but just hoping we do not run out of steam later on and Warne's tactics are better than with Rotherham at this level.

Oxford will stay up, and nobody on this forum will win the lottery. That's my prediction.
Flabbergasted
I wish you all the best mate! I hope Wayne has got something up his sleeve. Like I said, I like your recruitment so far - just felt you needed a safe pair of hands…
@@TheJackWardFootballPodcast To be fair mate respectfully i have never known so many people outside the Argyle bubble to want Rooney to fail it borderlines the point that in society no one really wants anyone to succeed, I really hope he does one of the best strikers this country has ever produced and i'm sure at the right club with good foundations im hopeful he will.
Oxford Pompey and derby definitely going down Pompeys goalkeeper is not championship class and will let in loads off goals plus are strikers are not good enough for this league not enough goals scored will relegate them so Pompey will end up 23

Yes, sorry Jack.
@@HZWY_Records
Yes I based that one purely on the fact we actually outplayed you in both games last year.

Swap Plymouth for Derby and sounds about right. Rooney not a clue tbh.
@@topcat4759I think Derby are going down. I’m not very impressed by their signings apart from Ben Osborn. I feel like the Argyle prediction is more out of hope tbh.
