Every team could produce a video cherry-picking instances where they feel the ref got it wrong. It's not the refs being biased, it's poor refereeing and that many decisions are still subjective and being made by humans. We will always see subjective calls through our own teams lens. VAR has some flaws but yesterdays penalty decision was a good advertisement for it.

The EPL refs getting free huge paychecks to go "guest Ref" in Qatar is the problem.

In the game against city when Dias blatantly fouled Hojlund. Mike Dean, who was in the commentary box, said that's not a penalty in a big game like this? That statement right there told us all we need to know about refs in this league. A penalty is a penalty. No matter if it's Sunday league or the World Cup Final

Villa last year dalot got wiped out off the pitch after ball went out of play and Neville and the other commentator was telling him to get up it’s never a foul and so on. Fast forwards like 10 mins mctomminay wiped a player out off the ball in the exact same shoulder to shoulder manor as 10 mins prior and Garry Neville and the other guy said he was lucky to get away without a card it was petty and rash and stupid.

I’m glad you made this video. The issue lies with the mainstream media-they rarely criticise bad decisions that goes against Manchester United, yet they’re quick to attack referees for making decisions in United’s favour. This shows how weak the PGMOL is and how heavily influenced they are by the media. As a result, it’s easier for officials to make the wrong call against Manchester United. If that penalty decision had gone against Liverpool FC, there would likely have been calls for a public inquiry.

Remember when Hojlund made his first Utd appearance as a sub against Arsenal at the Emirates and Gabriel rugby tackled him in the box and as is always the case with us, VAR didn't even take a look at what was a blatant penalty with the score at 1-1. Compare that to yesterday's penalty for Havertz or the one given against Hojlund by VAR against City. Let's not forget the potential handball by Van Dijk at Anfield that didn't even get a tv replay, let alone a VAR check.

    • @stevored1989

Well the VAR for that Gabriel rugby tackle was Jared Gillett, a self confessed Liverpool fan. Also in regards to the Australian Mr Gillet, allegedly he officiated the Australian League Grand Final, and awarded a late dodgy winning penalty to the club that his then girlfriend worked for. I suspect this fact, is why he is Refereeing over here rather than in Australia, and it does rather question the integrity of the PGMOL, that they employed him.

Around 10 mins later in the game it went for a goal kick to the opposition and mctomminay went shoulder to shoulder off the pitch and wiped out a villa player. Garry and the other commentator was saying “there was no need, he’s lucky it’s not a yellow and it’s petty to follow through with the barge after the ball went out of play”

Add to that the officials are almost untouchable as it’s a crime to even question them, also who would back us up? The clubs won’t stand behind United even if they see its injustice because they are happy to see us suffered especially if they benefit from it.

Honestly I don’t think the refs are match fixing, I think they have either subconscious biases or even mild biases that over the course of the season make a difference. Also maybe a ref officiating a United game thinks if I get a decision wrong and in benefits the opponent (not United) it gets a lot less scrutiny than if I give the wrong decision in favor of United (like in the Wolves game 23/24 where Onana clattered into their striker and it wasn’t given. That ref got a lot of stick and the Premier Refs Association even apologized to Wolves. The following week we didn’t get a clear penalty (to compensate!?) and Bruno asked in a post match interview.. where’s our apology!?)
If refs mess up, better to mess up against United as otherwise the stick they get is massive.

Ref accuracy is a fake stat. Many rules and their interpretations are in shambles at the moment (offside, handball, set pieces, levels of contact in a tackle made by different body parts, etc) so they can pat themselves on the back and say they were 'accurate' while they destroy the game.
And yeah, Fergie did ruin their childhood (which is definitely a factor), but on penalties especially, you can't discount changes in playing style and personnel. Under ETH we were barely ever in the box during a game so there were other reasons why our penalty count went way down.

Ever since it became cool to call out United before matches (around 2021) for historic decisions, referees have been terrified to give decisions to United for fear of being jumped on by the mainstream media or other managers. And why are managers even allowed to repeatedly question match officials pre game anyway, given they aren't allowed to comment after the match? All these comments pre game puts pressure on the refs and they seem so determined to "prove" that they aren't biased towards United by going miles the other way. You even know the refs ahead of time that will be apparently consistently biased against us.
Any other club and it wouldn't be tolerated, but as soon as anyone suggests a decision goes FOR United, suddenly the Wolves game from 2y ago is relevant and it's swept under the carpet. The issue needs airing and thrust at the PGMOL so that the pressure isn't all anti United.
