I have to say, I own both MP and SS86 Ironhide, and the chug looks better than the masterpiece. Also, wait till you get your yellowing on your Ratchet. It will happen.
I really think that Masterpeice is a great Idea! But, my wallet feels a different way. I feel like we can get a more simple (Somewhat more accurate?) figure with 86, legacy, and just the rest of the mainline
Well, duh. Ironhide's original toy was a battle station mech thing, not a proper "robot"*. *y'know why I did that; its cuz Cybertronians aren't technically robots. They're mechanical aliens
@@nujevad28 No. MPG and MP are different things The official Masterpiece line is ending with MP 60 and full priority is going to MPG, Takara figures like the Trainbots
I began collecting Transformers 8+ yeads ago because of MP Bumblebee + Ratchet & Ironhide. That led me to some combination of Ultra Magnus, MP10, Wheeljack, Silverstreak, and Prowl. Some were gifts from the woman whom I am now married to.
When I started collecting my initial plan was to go down the mp/3rd party route.... Then I got kingdom Cyclonus and never looked back since. Still have a ko of mp13 soundwave with cassettes though. He's cool.
I think the best beginner masterpiece figure would either be one of the Datsuns like Prowl, or maybe Wheeljack. Edit: and no, your shoulders appear to be misassembled. Basically you want the part that's inside the body the arm attaches with to be upside down from what it is. Should be totally flat across the top of the shoulder when the arm is straight up and down
I feel this way about MP-33 Inferno. Not sure if he's as cheap to acquire, but the way everything so satisfyingly thoops together is amazing. The way the whole ladder collapses into the torso is so satisfying, and its such a solid mold with great poseability and proportions.
My first masterpiece experience was finding an MP-05 Sunstorm and a KO Starscream of the same mold but twice the size at flea market from the same stall. I sold them both
I made my own “generations” if you will of masterpiece figures: Generation 1: MP-01-MP-08- simplistic (by later standards), heavy focus on the alt mode, lots of diecast. Not in scale with each other, inconsistent release dates, heavy reliance on repaints. Generation 2: MP-09-MP-31: figures now to scale, still fairly simple to transform, more effort put into robot mode/alt mode cohesion, inclusion of Japanese G1 characters, heavy on the car autobots due to obtaining licensing with car manufacturers. Less diecast than first gen figures Generation 3: MP32-Present (MP-60)- more emphasis on toon accuracy, even in alt mode, more complex transformations. Inclusion of Beast Wars, much improved articulation, far more accessories (face swaps, episode specific accessories), usually feature large “backpacks” of kibble in the early ones.
I have Ironhide I really like a lot. I also have Ratchet. Got them both used on eBay but are excellent condition and came with everything they were supposed to.
"Kinda wish more Masterpieces did that" Nah, man. I think the world is good on those. That part's too risky for QC failure: I got a Hasbro Asia release MP40 Targetmaster Hot Rod, and that particular spring-loaded panel doesn't function correctly...as it usually won't pop back up after removing a weapon. The shoulder issue was with MP11NR Ramjet. And Ratchet's MP30, he had to sit behind MP28 Hot Rod and MP29 Shockwave before he came out.
I got into Transformers through the Marvel comics, so Ratchet will always be the superior version of this mold. I view Ironhide as the copycat, and I'll die on this hill like it's the Frenzy colour wars. Also he has a light bar so clearly a superior toy.
I recommend MP33 Inferno as a starter MP figure. He looks toon accurate and easy to transform. Also not too expensive. The articulation is also better than Ironhide.
With Studio Series making the 86 figures that are way more affordable and even more screen accurate, the Masterpiece line honestly is redundant at this point.
My first masterpiece was the original bumblebee got him from toy's r us for idk how much actually but I really wish I got bluestreak because Bee is alright but leagues worse than bluestreak lol
I actually think the SS86 accomplishes a better aesthetic above the waist. If SS86 had used the leg engineering, it'd be near perfect. (Still has those big, stupid hinges that masterpiece doesn't need.)
The only masterpiece I have is Prowel I got him at a Toys r us many years ago for around $50 canadian I thought he was really cool for the price and I wanted to get MP10 Optimus but I only ever saw I think it was year of the horse edition it had some IMO really ugly gold plastic so I passed on him then never saw another masterpiece line transformer in a store and then I just stopped caring about the line until I saw beast wars Megatron and Optimus primal those two I want but only if I can get both of them
Honestly I don’t get he hype behind this MP. I actually think it was a big miss because he just looks really dumpy. When I think of MP, I think of sos, thing that looks cool. And this just ain’t cool at all to me.
I have to say, I own both MP and SS86 Ironhide, and the chug looks better than the masterpiece. Also, wait till you get your yellowing on your Ratchet. It will happen.
Wow only 2 likes? That toy guy mustve forgotten to wait more than 5 seconds for this joke to become stupid and only funny cause its stupid and not even that because im going on too long with it to intentionally make it not funny at all anymore.
And of course I forgot to fold out the little belly bit of detail. Pain

I like the official Masterpiece figures. My daughter is wanting to collect them with me she loves the G1 looking figures.
My beginner masterpiece was the walmart skywarp. Got him in 2003(?) For 25 bucks on clearance.
FYI, the twin pistols can store under the van in the slots where the rear wheels fold during transformation.

One thing you can also do with this figure is to tuck in the bumper in robot mode, making it look like he has a bit less of a beer belly.
There's a lil grey piece hidden below the bumper(his beer belly) that u can flip out btw
Took me long to realize it too
A masterpiece that doesn't take 30 minutes to transform. What is this world coming to.
no fucking way. i was looking for a review on this guy today and this comes out haha insane timing
Not sure why but masterpiece grapple is my favourite

Damn, I've been doing this Masterpiece collecting thing wrong, my first MP was MP-13 so I guess I started on the wrong foot
Hopefully I’ll be able to find one at my local toy show this weekend…

Speaking of good deals I scored an MPM Blackout for $99, was never going to dip my toes into MP but how could I pass that up
"MP-44 Convoy Ver.3.0" released in 2019 ❤
I wish they'd done a black Diaclone version, I would have picked that up.
@that toy guy. I once bought a masterpiece blue streak at the grocery store
Un buen decepticon para empezar ? Gracias saludos desde Costa Rica.
You planning on getting legacy magmatron?
I've only ever gotten one masterpiece figure. It was the Toys R Us release of bluestreak. My older brother sat on it and the door broke off
MP Ironhide has the best transformation ever too. Just a great figure.
MP Ironhide is cool, definitely. Also, TTG, that isn't a fire extinguisher, thats Ironhide's liquid nitrogen shooter thing from the show, iirc.
I really like the Old MP's, like Ironhide and Prowl, Skids is good, MP44 was great, but the Train Bots were awful, and I never bothered buying them
Guys the mp-ironhide videos out

You can store the pistols underneath as exhausts
Not exhausts, they’re suspensions. My brain defaulted to the 86 mold lol

I've always hated his robot proportions though,
Now turn it into crosshairs!
i just saw a truck that looks like 07 iron hide
