    Have not received an email for the newest update you're showing in this video, and it doesn't show up on Haven Wireless' Amplimax customer page yet. Like that it shows you which bands you're connected to instead of only the primary, then you have to "know" band frequencies to figure the others out. Not a huge deal, but a nice feature of the new firmware update. Maybe soon....

    Hi Peter, What if any advantage do you see with a Home SIM vs the Business sim on the Elsys Amplimax?

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Leo. One advantage is BYOD. Business SIMs are bring your own device, so it is super simple to configure. The other advantage is that it is a different network, granted it has the same backhaul, but it has a different usage profile. Most consumers complain that their speeds drop in the peak of when they want to use it (when they come home from work), there are more and more people on that APN (network) and it slows down. I do not have empirical data but my business accounts seem to have less of a slow down. That could be reason enough. Also, I do not think the equipment that they "give" you is worth the implied contract. I would rather just get the SIM and be free to cancel if and when I want.

       @projectnerdvana2820 Your needs are likely different than the target audience for this video. The 5688W 5G device you're looking at for $50 on eBay isn't something you would have to purchase to utilize T-Mobile Home Internet.
      When you sign up for the service, you are given a gateway for free at no additional monthly cost. If you signed up for the service today, you'd get the newer gateway seen in the video (Nokia 5G21) included as part of the monthly service cost.
      The solution Peter is showing here, is more of an all-in-one that combines several other devices, and features into one unit at a bit of a premium. You may not have a need for these in your scenario.
      I'd suggest you save your money, stick with the default service, and see if it meets your needs. If you aren't happy with the signal, that's where the videos like this one and others on Peter's channel are helpful.

    Great video Peter, for a part time RV'er is there a cellular system that works great for around a $200-$250 budget? I can't justify spending $500 on a system when I would only use it in my RV once every month or two. I'm a T-Mobile customer and are currently using the T-Mobile Gateway in our RV ($30 per month). Obviously, I don't set or have control over the prices these manufactures charge, but If I had $250 to spend on a mobile solution... I would make the T-Mobile gateway as good as possible. Because you are mobile, I would recommend using an omin-directional antenna like this one amzn.to/3L2zkvD I would mount it on the TV antenna riser so that I could lower it while travelling. If I could only mount the antenna to not be lowered, I might go for one or two of these amzn.to/4bmb4z3 One good 2x2 MIMO is the greatest improvement, but two are even better.

    Hi, I just received the G4 AR and am receiving on LTE B66 RSRP - 75 RSRQ -8 RSSI - 66 SNR 28 and on 5G and 41 -70 - 10-59-25 respectively… So excellent numbers but my download and upload speeds are poor sometimes as low as 10 download and 15 upload sometimes even lower can't even stream video… Will the waveform antenna help a lot? I have a clear sight of the tower approximately 1/2 mile away thanks for your videos and support.

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for sharing your numbers... this makes it easier to answer. The bands you are pulling in are good and the scores you are getting are excellent. The WaveForm antenna would only serve to makes these numbers slightly better. With those numbers you should be getting the full resources available from that tower. Either the tower is being worked on or it is a remote tower itself and perhaps has a microwave backhaul. Are you by chance in the middle of a national forest or something? This would mean that you are getting good signal but the resources of the tower are less than say in LA, Chicago or Silicon Valley.

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Another possibility would be sharing bandwidth... if you go to Burning Man for example (Woodstock for you older folks) you suddenly have a bunch of people sharing the resources of a very remote tower. This is a stressed resource and as an internet user, your priority is the lowest. So camping in a national park might have ups and downs tied to the number of users.

    • @daveruder9400
      @daveruder9400 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was afraid of that answer because it looks like a deprioritized tower or just equipment not up to par. I get more than respectable speeds with T-Mobile cell from that tower so was hoping for the same with home internet. I guess I'll have to return the gateway...thanks for your reply.

    • @PeterC408
      @PeterC408  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      With scores like that, it is worth giving them a call to find out what is going on. Perhaps it is just a maintenance thing. Also, there are ways to increase your Priority? Get a Business account SIM, they have higher priority. Get a different modem that can get "better bands". Most Home Internet users are using 5G NSA with n41. If you can pair that with and n25, n66 or even n77 it is like finding a secret freeway. Getting a different Gateway may be what you need. Get a Business SIM because higher priority and works with anything. When you accept their gateway, you are basically signing a contract for 2yrs.

    • @PeterC408

      First and foremost T-Mobile is a phone network so they give phone customers priority. Everyone knows that no one's going to download three terabytes onto a phone so they allow them to have faster speeds. Home and business internet users use a lot more data so they are deprioritized when the network gets crowded to help share the network. That is why your iPhone seems to get really good speeds compared to your PC. Also an 8x8 memo sounds pretty cool but MIMO stands for multiple input multiple output, I don't know of a technology that would allow a single PC to use all of these inputs and outputs at the same time. (That said someone will do it, and I of course will have to get one)

      When I started surfing there was hardly anyone in the water. Guys would get 15 rides a session. Now it has turned into an aquatic mosh pit of inadequacy. Same thing happened with Cable internet; People would brag about their speeds until everyone got it. There is another way... While there are more people at the table, you can still get plenty to eat. Better signal will get you faster speeds. While you will still see slowdowns, slowing for 700Mpbs to 500Mbps during peak times it not an issue. Going to 5G SA allows you to get different (less crowded) bands and avoid the 4G slowdown. When I first put an antenna on my modem, I was getting 700-950Mbps but now that same solution yields half (as you could see). By changing hardware, I am able to change to frequencies that my T-Mobile provided modem can't get! I can even craft my scores to get me more balanced performance and fix the CG-NAT. So, what was your question?

      As far as shutting itself off, it is probably because it is too hot. This device does not like to serve WiFi very much. If you have over 10 devices, it gets hot then shuts off. Just use a different router and it will be fixed. I would always use my own router and using Bridge Mode allows you to do so without getting into double NAT. Oh, and it is faster too.

      I talked to a T-mobile supervisor and they said I’m lucky I haven’t gotten kicked off and suggested I looked for a new provider because they said I was going over the 1.2 TB and I was averaging over 4TB a month and was “Quote” using to much bandwidth even tho I’m locked in at 50$ for “Unlimited Data “ that’s why my speeds have been all over the place I guess because they want me to leave so there finding ways to really mess with me I’m at 600 ping used to be in the lower 20s can I not sue them for this? I texted all this earlier but i didn’t see it guessing it didn’t save

      @@TT_LIFTS T-Mobile changed this for all of its Home Internet customers back in April. Went from "Unlimited, except in times of network congestion" to "Still Unlimited except in times of network congestion...but even moreso for those using over 1.2TB per month". We all know that TMHI is in the lowest throttle tier, so there's that, too.
      What aggravates me about it is that Tmo claims it's due to crowding on their network, but at the same time, rolls out new 130GB/month backup plans. It seems like reducing their bandwidth load for TMHI customers, thereby freeing up bandwidth for these new plans.
      As someone who fought "cutting the cord" for cable tv for years until very recently, this is not ideal. Running TH-camTV/Fubo/Hulu + Live is fairly bandwidth heavy, and will chew through 1.2TB with additional moderate internet use.

      I think they still have it but it is not their introductory offer any longer. Verizon is limiting traffic to 1.2TB as well. This makes more sense when you are trying to decide how many additional customers you can responsibly add to your network.

      @@PeterC408 sorry autocorrect... My att... I spoke w a guy who's wife is a vendor he was a line man. He says most of old los Angeles runs off old cable and they won't upgrade it because it's just too expensive. . . I'm looking to go fully wireless. Doing my homework on simcard routers and seeing these numbers is crazy! I'm only able to see videos in 480p (highest rez) without my signal chugging... Thank you for the info... I'm looking into a Wiflyer WE826-Q 4G LTE Router. And there's a 15 gigs a month sim from Amazon... For 30 bucks, seems like the right deal for my budget.

      No problem. Now I understand. Yes, AT&T is suing for the right to not replace old lines... they are going away. Wireless is the best last mile solutions but I have heard of people using it for up to 15miles.
