It's a wonderful course, was lucky enough to play it when it first opened a few yrs back I thought once it matures it would be epic, the old Tom Morris track is superb too. Fantastic locals downings Bay is wonderful!!😊
Thank you very much for a surreal day on the golf course!! It was an absolute pleasure to be on the bag!! You played some great golf and are a serious ball striker!! Best of luck in your future endeavors and hope to see you again soon!!
71 is a fantastic round Rick, played awesome. 17 was an absolute screw job, that was one of the most brutal lip outs I’ve ever seen, the way it rounded out even looked weird. Great video, course looks great.
I do like how your job was literally to play golf there and you were talking about how you couldn't wait to retire from playing golf so you could then play golf.
I have been following you for almost 5 years now. Your incredible amount of skill and determination to conquer this god forsaken sport is impressive. The only thing, I believe, that has kept you from reaching your goal can be described in two words you use often: "get lucky". Hearing those words pretty much means you have pulled or hooked your shot and that has literally been your nemesis for, well, forever. Watching you play this round was so exciting because it shows that you are so close to reaching your goal. What an impressive round. I can't wait to see what happens in the future. Thank you so much for publishing your journey.

I thank you for my new fairway woods and driver based on your recommendations. Your voice is pure ASMR! The break 75 series is amazing. I find my self genuinely disappointed if you miss par. Played this course in May and it is just next level. Just feels so special from the minute you step on the first tee. The views are spectacular and video can't do it justice! Great round Rick well played.
I just have to say, (from US) I’m terrified of flying… but last two videos make me want to say screw it, save up and take some time out in Ireland (and many other UK venues you’ve played) and if I inevitably shoot a 150 at everyone of them, then the plane crashes on the way home… worth it! Love these videos
Trust me, as an Irish man living in California, going home to play golf is the best. Golf is a social affair, and we don’t take ourselves too seriously. The people you meet on and off the course will make it all worthwhile. Safe travels. You can do it.
Good to see you are REAL on your videos. When it goes wrong like the 17th, you are genuinely pissed off as all golfers would be with that lip out & frustrations with yourself cause you know what you should have done. Loving your videos. Keep up the good work. From Mark G in NZ

I must say, Rick. This is probably the best round of golf I've watched you play. Excellent strikes, great reads, all around fun video and you kept your cool and stayed out of your head.
Great round Rick. Also loving these videos coming in at under an hour. With every channel going down the long form route now, it's harder to commit time to staying up with all the content. Great stuff.
I played this course a few weeks ago with my brother in law. Best course ive ever played. Scenery, condition and price point (price point is great if you're irish). Hell of a course. Also, 1st time ive seen Rick play this good in a long time, love to see it.
Really enjoyed the time taken to show the scenery, breathtaking! Shane was an excellent addition too, his insight certainly helped with the overthinking. 👍
I’m in the US. I truly love these links courses. The recent ones on this channel amazing. Parkland courses are great, however, I enjoy the verity in the links style courses. Hard to understand complaints that a UK golfer plays on a lot of links courses.
The only complaints we have is our awful weather, other than that some of the courses we have access to over here are unbelievable. No complaints about that
Great round Rick best you have been swinging it since I have been watching. A little careless near the end but you must be buzzing your game is in so much better shape than the start of the year.

Great to see another of Tom Doak's creations - those wide fairways are a favourite illusion of his as quite often if you're on the wrong side of the fairway the approach to the pin is very difficult. Love the blow out bunkers and the extreme undulations of the greens - so reminiscent of Tom's Tasmanian course Barnbougle Dunes (even more spectacular).
@@clintonparker4141 He putted good this round, but he 3 putts a lot and misses a lot of 4 - 6 putts. If he improved there he could definitely shoot low 70s, high 60s. He's a great player otherwise.

Loved this ❤ Rick played some serious golf. St. Patrick’s is an amazing course and absolutely beautiful. Next time you have to play Sandy Hills and Old Tom. Really showing off the beauty that is Donegal
In a very English way, i love one of the par 4s on a local course to me. Behind the green, over a joining wall is a church and you have the church steeple to aim at for your approach shot. The following par 3 tee area is next to the wall and there's a sign up - asking golfers to be quiet and respectful as there may be mourners over the wall in the graveyard. I always wonder. Is there a sign on the other side asking mourners to be quiet and respectful as there may be golfers teeing off on the other side of the wall......
lol a year ago if you shot a 71 even par round you would have been over the moon. Games come a long way in a year. Honestly those misses like on 16 and 17, even the miss on 14 that would have led to the “undeserved” birdie, they make you so relatable. Those are the strokes we all give up and the ones your pros make. Your channel is still the absolute best and the only one that is a must watch for on a weekly basis. Keep up the great work!
Glad you went and played St.Patrick’s Links Rick, it really is outstanding and will only get better with time. Sandy Hills is awesome too. Well played Rick boy, best you’ve played tee to green for a while! Great round of golf. Putting is my nemesis at the moment, just sold my putter as couldn’t hole a 3-4ft putt and I once was a reasonable player off of 4 many years ago. I’m hoping a change will get a bit of confidence back!
Great round Rick, been following you for many years. Nice to see you play some amazing courses, I recently tore my ACL and struggle to walk 18 especially pushing my buggy around so it's nice to live vicariously through you until I can afford a electric push cart
Thanks for the video, Rick. Really fun to watch. I really enjoyed seeing the pages from the yardage book on your tee shot. Hope to keep seeing this on your videos.

Bottle up that swing for future use, Rick! Amazing tee to green game and scared the hole more than not on the greens. Glad to see your hard work paying off!
Absolutely loved this! Well played Rick! When that driver works, makes the round easier and I believe you will smash break 75 when driver is in play! Awesome golf.
What makes this so amazing, it's fairways and the dunes, greens and bunkers is that it was a former 36-hole facility developed by the Walsh Family of Carrigart. The Maheramagorgan Links designed by Irish architect Eddie Hackett and the Trá Mór Links designed by PGA Professional Joanne O'Haire, both opened for play in the mid-1990's. Then as part of the collapse of the Irish Economy the course went bankrupt and was bought by the Casey brothers who contracted Tom to create the redesign. So you have 18 holes using the best of what were the original 36. Looks absolutely amazing.
@@captaindein33it wasn’t a clear wedge. Playing out of the rough down and back up a big slope with the bin tucked at the back. That was a poor shot but it’s all about damage limitation. Anyone would struggle to stop it at that pin.

Bottle up that swing for future use, Rick! Amazing tee to green game and scared the hole more than not on the greens. Glad to see your hard work paying off!
That long putt on the 5th with the drone shoot was so so good! love it!
Absolutely loved this! Well played Rick! When that driver works, makes the round easier and I believe you will smash break 75 when driver is in play! Awesome golf.
Congrats Rick on an awesome round of golf in an awesome setting. Your game has really come around. All the hard work is paying off.
Hey he got a Yinzer on the bag! Woo Hoo!
Great golf there Rick. Driver was truly on form and that golf course looks like it’s from gods playbook! Incredible.
Wonderful golf course. Stayed and played all three courses at Rosapenna last June. I can't imagine a more beautiful setting for golf!
Won't use a wedge on the edge of the green but will smash 3 wood... Golf with Rick Shiels.
😂😂
@@captaindein33it wasn’t a clear wedge. Playing out of the rough down and back up a big slope with the bin tucked at the back. That was a poor shot but it’s all about damage limitation. Anyone would struggle to stop it at that pin.
He would have needed a flop shot though if he pulled a wedge
@@justinrisinger7506 and where’s a flop shot going? Zero spin and is going to run off as well. It’s criticism because it’s Rick and that’s it. It’s getting petty.
Clearly someone that has never played a links
Great content. Great ball striking. Great venue. Thanks Rick.
Keep up the great vids Rick! always a pleasure watching your videos☺️
Absolutely love that you have visited Donegal! Beautiful place
A pleasure to see you play steady golf on such an unbelievably beautiful course. Full marks.
Great round, Rick! I really love watching you play golf, sir, I really really do!
That’s the best I’ve seen you off the tee Rick. Minus 2 or 3 pulled. The driver and long iron shots were brilliant. Some great putting too. Unlucky on the last couple. Been looking forward to seeing the Ireland vids since you mentioned on podcast few weeks ago. Incredible track this one!
what a fantastic looking course and very well played Rick, looked up how much it was to play all 3 of the courses on the complex and it looks like it would have to be a bucket list golf trip £££ not surprising given how stunning the place is
Love it Rick. A great reminder of a brilliant course. Returning to play it again next week. Not sure whether I'll ace 17 again, but you never know!
Beautiful golf course. Enjoyed watching Rick play a great round of golf.
