The refund after four months of delivery is not correct. In the small text below they state "After receiving a tracking number with a estimated delivery date, if you do not receive your rewards after 120 days of that "estimated delivery date"" , so they can still be massively delayed as long as they do not send out a tracking number. I think this is mainly to 'address' the debacle going on with shipping on the current outstanding campaigns. I have received base the game of Tanares adventures in February but still waiting on all the other content... Two weeks ago they were 'confident' to ship the remaining pledges in the next three weeks, so one week left I guess...
A couple of years ago I was trying to decide whether to late-back Stormsunder or the previous Tanares campaign. I chose Stormsunder - looks like I'll still be waiting while Tanares delivers their previous campaign AND their next campaign. Lazy Squire does great stuff but damn do they need to get their act together.
Just to add to your perspective, I was backing Bloodstone at the time the first Tanares Adventures campaign was out. Bloodstone eventually canceled but this is the third campaign since then. I was waiting for Bloodstone to come back. I dont think it's coming back around. I'm getting Tanares this time around since I missed the previous 2.
Very informative video. I went with the standee version and I am so happy they had that as an option. As someone who plays games like Warhammer 40K and Kingdom Death: Monster, I am no stranger to painting miniatures. That said, my time is limited and I don't always want a game to come with dozens and dozens of miniatures that I need to paint. I will be very happy to get this game in the mail someday and just open it up and play!
Thanks for the content Alex - something to note is that the standee version also has slightly less content than the standard base pledge (no Medusa + one less quest book for example)
I noticed this too. How meaningful are these differences? I vastly prefer standees over miniatures but I want to make sure to get all of the gameplay content. Or is there just so much in the campaign that it doesn't really matter?
Yeah I agree, it also looks like 8 less heroes? I'm confused why they would gate content this way - why not make the standee version exactly the same as the base?
They confirmed over in the KS comments what fits/doesn't fit in the 2 storage boxes: "Dragon Collection, Madness Box, Tarrasque, Gold Dragon, and Silver Dragon are not on the Storage as they are mostly miniatures used for specific quests. Adding them to the Storage would make the storage not fit on Kallax. =( We did our best to include all the core gameplay elements in the Storage so the core of your campaign can be done only with it. The box will be able to hold 2 boards."
Getting the new dragon also includes new stretch goals. So that’s another reason to try and grab it for free. Also all the new books are going to be free as PDFs so existing players should be happy their getting a different/improved way experience the game for free.
I already backed the $189 pledge. Debating on the legendary box. All I really want is the 3D terrain, and paying $139 for just that is quite a lot. But I feel like id definetly miss having the walls. Its times like these i really wish i had a 3D printer. Wonder how hard it would be to find replacementas that are the right size...
How's the solo experience? Is it a game you can easily swap out / swap in players in the middle of campaigns or take control of the entire party yourself at times?
FOMO got me! I sat on the floor of my game room, looking at all the content that I already have for Arena and Tanares and decided I didn't need the update pack or the Penumbral collection. And then backed both!
I'm sure plenty of people have gotten their Tanares Adventures and are loving it... I've been emailing back and forth, with promise after promise that I'll get the boxes that I paid for two campaigns ago. The last email I got, they asked for my address, and said they were awaiting my reply. I replied immediately, waited for a week, asked for a tracking number (which I had been promised I'd have AND that I'd get it in a week from the email), and have not heard from the company since asking for the tracking number, going on 10 days now. I sent another email saying I was frustrated, and still no response. I have no idea what to do next to get what is supposedly a wonderful (Arena + Adventures) game!
Hey Alex, thanks as always for the vid - Totally agree re: multi-box games. I love Thunderstone Quest but it's great big boxes are smaller than a single Kallax but too big to stack more than one on top of another, so frustrating! At least their Super Box does give you two full kallax boxes, well organised. Be interested to "dig into" how these are divided up e.g. can you use Box 1 to play the first X quests and Box 2 to play the following Y and Z quests? 🤔
Is the Legendary Box the first printing of that game (but that might be a reprinting of it) and does it have the same core box characters as the newer core box? How is this box different from the other core box?
Looks amazing, however the price is way to high. $129 for the version I am interested in as a new backer, on top of that $50 shipping, AND VAT! Then add in some really cool looking expansions as well..... To pricey for me.
Not sure about standee pledge shipping cost, but yeah it’s quite pricey. It seems stretchgoals may bring additional campaign so it will compensate a little.
Not necessarily would save money now. It depends on what addtional addons you would buy. For example, The Madness Box was free previously now you have to pay for it...
Alex has been shouting about how great the game is since the way back times. Imo it's a great game. Dragori should have paid Alex thousands for all the free marketing he gave them from 3+ years ago.
Alex, I'd love to hear your feedback now that the Tanares Ultimate Kickstarter released a Standee Pack which adds 2 campaigns, all bosses, and villains, to the core game content. Would you now back the Ultimate Edition for $189, or the Standee Edition + Add on Pack for $148?
i didn't watch the video (yet) but i can answer the question "Should You Back It?" YES. it's a great game and it's priced fairly and it even has a standee version now. if you want a gigantor skirmish campaign game, you need this in your collection. :)
Oh geez this campaigne is nuts...theres a lot of expansions and every thing looks amazing. I'm assuming the 3d terrain is a must buy. I really didn't want to spend over 200....
Thanks for doing day 1. I know this looks like an amazing game. I’m backing to add to my collection though I doubt I will get to it even by the promised delivery of feb 24. 😂
Yup, the poster it comes with looks nice, but it doesn't really lay flat, and you need to place cards and cubes on it so having a board would be better
I played two games of Arena The Contest. It was very simplistic, like D&D board games. I guess such games have their audience but it's not really worth this kind of money.
I had a pretty frustrating conversation with Dragori over the new boxes, they're saying they will in 2 Kallax holes, but couldn't tell me the dimensions of the boxes, but then after saying it seemed like a concept rather than a product and it was putting me off backing, suddenly they did know the dimensions? Also there's no clarity on whether the trays are plastic or foam, what fits in the boxes and how. Also delivery for Tanares Adventures was a shit show and I would be very wary of any assurances that delivery will be any better this time. I agree it's a great game but it's an unwieldy beast, and unless you're playing with people you live with there's so many games that don't require 3+ boxes of stuff and a massive table.
Well if you follow my logic your next thoughts will be: Oh full box is not that much more ah well lets just get that instead. After that: oh now I’m already paying that much why bot go all in. And at the moment I‘m starting to think now I am already paying 650 dollars so why not 200 more to get everything painted, as I will probably newer have the time to paint 500 minis myself😌 An all that while knowing that this thought process is not healthy at all…
Still waiting for my stuff like many others in Europe and no end in sight. And we already have a new campaign with improved materials for nearly better prices than what the original backers paid. And a 24 hours bonus. Not impressed by dragori.
It's Kickstarter, and they haven't had experience with producing a game of this size. I think too many people think of Kickstarter as just a preorder store, when that's really not what it is at all.
To a certain degree true, but they did deliver the first arena before and wave 1 ( arena reprint) and people were warning them of that when they launched and combined the rpg.
@@joachim4889 Being warned that something might be hard is not particularly useful. They also weren't warned that a pandemic was going to hit right as they were wrapping up their campaign, making everything much harder, much more time-consuming, much less predictable, and more expensive.
Don’t feel good about paying 189 bucks for a game and still feeling like I have missed out a ton of stuff. I want to feel good about a $189 dollar game and not feel FOMO. I see all those extra packs and I already feel like I’m not even getting a complete experience at $189. This is insane and I am out.
$189 is actually already have most of the gameplay. All the Tanares campaign stuff is in it. You got quite a variety of heroes to choose from as well. It's not like you are missing a lot if you are focusing on the Campaign game itself. Sure something like extra side quests, or an epilogue after the main campaign can be tempting, but the 189$ tier can already provide you hours of fun. Other expansions are good but you don't need the other boxes to enjoy the game. That's the main point.
Take it with a grain of salt but from what I’ve seen isn’t the $189 itself a ton of content? Realistically how many people with all other games they own, life, relationships, other activities and hobbies etc are going to finish or even get to the extra content? Most people aren’t going to even finish all the content in the base game, so getting extra content that will likely never be used isn’t a wise choice
Curious as to why. It's been a great run and an awesome game. Yes, it was delayed quite a bit, but ultimately it was delivered and everything was excellent.
Most probably they keep communicating that the stuff will be shipped every time they get a promise from their shipping partner. It gets the hope up for the backers, but some misfortune stuff happened and the delivery partner underdelivered and the stuff actually didn't show up as promised and they are screwed. They have a guarantee: if it has 4 months delay from their estimate, they will allow 100% refund in their latest KS though. So I wouldn't worry too much.
Lol, if this is the worst you had to deal with on Kickstarter, then you're really lucky! When you're dealing with Kickstarter, you're often going to be dealing with inexperienced companies trying to deliver something they've never done before. I really don't understand people expecting them to do it smoothly.
I think guarantees like 100% refund if late is stupid. It doubt in a dire situation it cannot be kept unless Dragori has a few millions on their bank account. This is a Kickstarter. Pledge reasonably and not more than one is ready to lose. I also don’t think factory is capable to produce everything within the timeline OR some important steps are skipped by Dragori like checking pre-production copies carefully.
The refund after four months of delivery is not correct. I had the same dilemma and i made the same decision.
I have not regretted it
Love the standee version. I wish that would have been available in the first campaign.

for $139 just buy a 3d printer, they are dirt cheap these days
It's worth noting that shipping starts from 50 USD, and VAT is not included (but that is typical).
This changed my view on a standee pledge a lot.
Great game and giveaway, thanks!

Do you recommend getting the Punumberal Pack, especially if getting the dual box upgrade.
how many kalax need Oathsworn All-IN? 2 Kalax? i think not... so 2 Kalax for Tanares is well designed or what do you think?
Trying to decide between this and a late pledge for Wild Assent (closes on the 15th of July I think). Any thoughts?

Am I correct in understanding that this does not include the RPG (+ Solo Campaign)? e.g. is this KS now only Adventures and Arena the Contest?
As I known, Tanares RPG will have the Pledge Manager open later this year where people can still late pledge their RPG stuff.
Do you recommend on getting the upgraded city/world board for $20 to go with either the standee version or the ultimate version ?
Yup, the poster it comes with looks nice, but it doesn't really lay flat, and you need to place cards and cubes on it so having a board would be better

Tenares Adventures is the only thing you need if you already have Arena the Contest.
Honestly..
Returning backer + the board game content that came with the rpg, costs me in the range of 400+ shipping + vat .
