When learning a new tune I always try to play it in different keys: first, play the melody in the new key and learn the intervals. Then, arpeggiate the chords. Then try soloing in the new key. A good way to do this is around the circle of 5ths (or 4ths, actually): C, F, Bb, etc. Then, when a tune is called in a different key, you'll be more or less ready. Just started watching your vids, Ryan, and finding them extremely helpful.
I don’t have a lot of experience teaching how to set the mouthpiece, but I do know you want to try and have the lips inside the mouthpiece. Sometimes people use the inside of the lip as a surface to vibrate, but that can lead to plateaus due to pressure stopping the buzz. The simplest way I’ve heard of setting the embouchure is to say “M”, keep that shape, set the embouchure, and blow air. Hopefully that helps. Maybe other people have some insight as well!
Players are missing an opportunity for better breathing by being taught to take short duratiion resistive inhalation through the mouth. This also disturbes the embouchure.

I hope it was helpful!
Thank you very much for generating great content.
Amen 🙏
I agree 💯 with all of the concepts that you addressed sir. I think it sucks that I have yet to sit 🪑 next to you in a gig setting.
Can you give a hint to setting lips? I can blow in many ways, but without correct lips = no sound...or?
