Trumpet with Bob 💃🏼🕺🏻🕺🏻💃🏼
The lighting, the sound quality, the production…
These videos are as much pleasing as they are educational!
Fabulous work
Thank you so much for playing the trumpet to show the sound instead of describing it. I hate it when people in youtube don't play the instrument they have in their hands to describe the sound of it.
Hi there,
The fact that you picked up my beginner trumpet right at the end and brought out your tone through the instrument was the encouragement I needed to get going again. Bless you sir appreciate the videos

Really the best advice I’ve ever heard!!👏🎺I’m saving this video and going to work on those low long tones and bends everyday🎺 finding that sweet spot😊

My tone got much better , thank alot.
Nice 👍
The lips don't buzz - they resonate. In other words, they vibrate in response to a sound wave feeding back from the bell caused by turbulence in the mouthpiece cup when blowing. The turbulence is similar to when one whistles. You don't buzz to whistle.
Great video again Bob, thanks! I’m scared of my low register, or at least low A-flat, low G, low F-sharp …. I have a relatively full sound above A-flat but when I try to play lower I’m very weak and out of tune 😬 …. I’m really trying to be conscious of relaxed lips, plenty of air, and I play on symphonic style mouthpieces too, trying to benefit from deeper cups …. Despite all that these very low notes are a continual weak spot for me 😩. But hopefully if I can put in to practice what you suggest hopefully I will find that more majestic tones may come my way …. 👍. Thanks Bob!
Kind regards,
Donald 🎺🏴
Never fear, Donald! Remember that the low notes are more afraid of you than you are of them! With patience, consistency, and slow, relaxed practice, you’ll tame those low notes yet!
I learned the trumpet from the age of 7, did my grades and played well. I switched to Cornet after joining a Brass Band and ended up playing a Conn marching instrument which I loved. That went back to the band when I went off to university. I’ve worked in industry for 30 years and not played much at all, now I’m in my 50s I’m changing career playing and teaching brass and piano. Self taught on the piano, but I know music theory. Since getting back into it my relaxed playing on the trumpet is fine for me, but my Cornet tone is terrible. I’m back in a brass band and it’s all very regimented in terms of tuning and tone. I can’t get anywhere near the tone I used to have and I can’t work out why. There’s a hiss and my sound is shallow at best, wondering if you can help. Maybe I’m tense cos it’s perfection they’re after and I’m more about expressing emotion rather than technical skills and tuning these days. There are videos of my playing on my Mike on brass channel, maybe you can help. I’ve been away from music for far too long ? 🤞
do you have advice on having that more bright, fanfare-like tone? like what adjustments should you do? I feel like no matter what I do, my mellow tone either stays the same or gets fuzzy and out of tune.
Where can I find the clarke studies
I actually liked your sound on the cheap trumpet better (I’m on an iPad, so maybe that has something to do with it). 😂
What about lip slurs and playing intervals?
Lip slurs/flexibilities are my favorite exercises, and I’m gearing up to do a whole video on them. I’m also an interval fanatic. That said, I use these kinds of exercises more to develop strength, flexibility, endurance, range, and accuracy than to hone in on foundational tone production.
Can anyone else like, do mouth trumpet? Like, making a trumpet sound without a trumpet? Cause I can do that somehow
The more air the better
I picked it up because my girlfriend plays it and I wanted to shore in her hobbies.
