You must have had a blast with this one, Emily, given that it’s one of your longest videos yet. The only one I know is “Breaking Free,” since I did it for a 9th grade choir concert. The Hight School Musical 3 songs were placed way too low. That movie had some great songs.

Cant blame them, the third was overall the worst of the three, even if i like some of the songs. For me, who was 12 at the time when the first movie released the songs from this movie will always be the originals and most loved. And some of the songs just sound like a little different version of the song in the movie before, like you have the original "we are all in this together", the second "all for one", and the third "High school musical".

I'm unashamed to admit that I still know ALL of the lyrics to these songs. They were literally my entire childhood, and bring me back to a simpler time.

HSM2 actually has the a better average that GSM on this list actually. HSM's average is 10 1/4, HSM2's is 10 1/9
For me, my personal favorite is the title song in the 3rd movie. High School Musical. As it sums up the real life high school experience as a whole and once we reached the end of the song, we knew we associated it with our real life high school graduation with all the memories being kept in our hearts

High School Musical 2 is NOT the best. It’s MAD overrated. It’s still fine and the songs are good but it has the sin of a song that is HUMUHUMUNUKUNUKUAPUA’A.

I do remember some dance routines to these songs after all these years. I'm glad they did the live concert tour for HSM 1 with the real Troy singer; hunky Drew Seeley.
I had a feeling that Breaking Free and We're all in this together would be in the top 2 but didn't know which would be number 1.
HSM has the best storyline, 2 has the best dance routines and 3 has the best songs for me.
Scream definitely was the song that helped Zac win the MTV movie award for Best Male performance.
The big finale at the end of 3 is so incredible!

Because it's a banger, lol. And the list is voted on by the viewers who take the polls so you'd have to ask those viewers why they dislike it so much. (although it's probably due to the first two being more iconic and nostalgic than the last one)

Why so much hate for HSM3?
I can still sing most of these songs in my head as if the movies just came out but they came out 14-16 years ago.
Growing up is realize that sharpay and Ryan deserve to be the stars of every show, have the best songs and are pro acts, Gabriela is the most toxic character on a Disney movie, troy have personality issues and Chad and Taylor are not good friends.
They didnt spend half the budget in I Want It All for you to put it at #18

"I Want it All" in number 18 is a crime! Top 5-worthy.
OMG the memories!! This trilogy came out when I was in middle school so a lot of these songs are PACKED with memories, particularly those bonding myself and my mother, which we needed at the time because my ADHD was really beginning to manifest and my parents were doing nothing to help me, taught me techniques that only hurt me, and basically didn't try to understand me even though my father is dyslexic and got all the help he needed. He got special tutors and one on one attention from his mother, whereas I was told to suck it up and figure it out on my own, and then shunted to the side because my brother got into smoking and alcohol at age ten. Add on to that I had two friends - a brother duo - one was two years older, and the one I bonded with brought a gun to school to get expelled for absolutely no reason (we've talked since, which is how I know this). It worked and I was left with trust issues and no friends going into middle school. It wasn't a good time for me.
In general, I agree that the soundtrack for Number 3 is lacking, and for a lot of the reasons given. I wouldn't put any songs from One or Two near the bottom, though, because even the worst songs from the first two are better than the ones from Number 3. Except for Night of Nights which is the only exception.
What Time Is It used to never fail to get me excited, and not just for summer. But it lost its magic when my senior year women's ensemble teamed up with the other choral programs to sing this song as the conclusion for our Spring Concert. I was so excited to sing it, because I was one of the few who actually knew the song, but after graduation, I started skipping it when it would play. I'm sad about that, but I can see why my director picked it - it fit really well and it was an easy song to pull together quickly by a large number, though we did have to trim it which made it hard for me to adjust.
As far as the movies go, I'm most impressed with Ryan's evolution through the movie's. He grows from a brother being dragged along by his sister, to a young man discovering who he wants to be and standing up for what he wants even if it means going against his sister. I'm glad Sharpay got her moments to grow, too, but Ryan's were more impactful because we started off seeing him as the slightly lighter shade of gray to Sharpay's juxtaposition against Troyella's joy. Also a lot of Sharpay's songs are about her own selfishness which is really nothing new until the last act of the third movie - way too late to pull a meaningful Sharpay-growth song that hits home. So her I Want It All was entirely redundant and just served to solidify the third movie as my least-favorite.
I also agree that When There Was Me and You, and The Boys Are Back among others could have been a lot better. The vocals were there, and solid, but the production just cheapened them and made them not stick as well, for a lot of the reasons given but even before this video I still usually choose to skip these two songs because they didn't have the same magic as the ones from higher up on the list.
From worst to best more like from best to best cause I think every song from the High School Musical movies are the amazing

scream will always be my favorite because its omthing I closley relate to. in small towns, the high school is a safe place for kids of all different cliches. being there when the halls are empty is a way to get your feelings out, even in a wy as chaotic asthis
Sad because you've put most (not all though :D) of my favorite songs at the bottom... I realized that I love HSM3 songs even more because when I first watched the movies I WAS in senior year (btw, I watched it for the first time many years after its release) and so I love Scream and Right Here Right Now because I totally related with both these songs and now even though it's been a few years since I graduated... the good (and nostalgic) memories still come to mind when I hear them, and these memories come really strong, but I guess if you're ranking from a more tecnical perspective, it's fair to rank these songs low

HSM 3 was iconic imo! All the songs, the dance numbers, the orchestra, everything was extra and that’s what made it my favourite. Also every Troy song in every movie is my favourite top 😂

Scream deserves number 1
A little surprised that there was no mention of the infamous fact that Troy's singing vocals in the first movie weren't even Zac Efron's but Drew Seeley's thus technically speaking we don't really hear Troy's voice until "What Time Is It". Going back through the numbers I now can't see them without thinking about it and I'm still confused to this day why they did that to both performers. It doesn't ruin any of the songs or the performances sonically or visually by any means, but I do admit to noticing the lypsinc (which obviously they all were doing because duh) on Zac in the first film more now than back when it first came out.
Well, technically speaking we did hear Zac's voice in the first verses of Start of Something New.
I still don't understand why they couldn't simply cast Drew as Troy.

Or just let Zac sing he literally sang in hairspray not that long after so either they didn't want to go through the effort of pitching the songs to fit his voice or something else stupid. They eventually fixed it between letting Drew take over on the tour and Zac was fully on vocals by 2 but it's still just a weird moment in 2000s dcom/Disney movie history.
I must have been out of the loop, or it's just fallen out of my head because of brain fog but I didn't know/ realise that it wasn't Zac singing in HSM1 till reading this comment section 😅🫣🤯

the summer HSM2 came out, my parents decided to get rid of cable until school started back up (even tho we spent less time w/ the tv during the school year...so that was bs), but anyways I didn't get to watch HSM2 for a while. In place of that I found on a display @ Walmart a CD that ONLY had 'What Time Is It?', it was like a promotional demo thing ig. I bought it & played it waaaaaay too much. I remember it fondly.
All these songs were a major part of my childhood. High School Musical was like peak Disney and nothing else will compare to it. I would have liked to see more love for the tunes in High School Musical 3, particularly "I Want it All" and "Scream". Also, "Everyday" from 2 brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. It's one of the best songs in the entire series. "Breaking Free" is my top pick but more or less, that top 10 feels untouchable so I don't know how much higher you could put it.

86: I played Sharpay’s friend in a play. It was fun
I used to pretty much nail the choreography to We're All In This Together. One day when I was a teen, I was again watching the movie, singing and dancing like I often did. I would always get so into it too. That time I fell over and somehow twisted my ankle. That eventually led to arthritis. I'm now 31 and I haven't run in a whole lot of years. I can't even walk the way I used to. So, I don't dance anymore. But I make up for it by singing my heart out. I still love the movies and the songs, listening to a lot of them quite often.
Scream deserved a spot higher on the list, I think. The same thing goes for other HSM 3 songs as well.
