Juan Pablo Montoya Test the Ferrari F2008 [F1] at Mugello Circuit - Finali Mondiali Ferrari 2021

- Juan Pablo Montoya is still a very fast driver. This is the consideration I draw after seeing him aboard the Ferrari F2008 during the 2021 edition of the Ferrari Finali Mondiali. We are on the Mugello circuit during the session dedicated to private customers who own single-seaters. Montoya was invited to try the F2008 single-seater, and the show was not lacking! The Colombian driver, let us remember, is champion of the International F3000 in 1998, of the Formula CART in 1999 and two-time winner of the Indianapolis 500 in 2000 and 2015. He counts three victories at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2007, 2008, and 2013, 7 successes in the Formula 1 Grand Prix, winner of a Race of Champions in 2017 and the IMSA SportsCar WeaterTech championship in 2019. As you well understand, his foot is not lacking. He drove the F2008, a car that in 2008 won the constructors' title in the Formula 1 World Championship, at the time with drivers Kimi Räikkönen and Felipe Massa. The single-seater, designed by Aldo Costa, is powered by the Ferrari 056 engine, a 2.4-litre V8 capable of developing 750hp combined with a 7-speed longitudinal gearbox + reverse. Car with honeycomb carbon fibre monocoque is exceptionally light, only 605 kg.

Juan Pablo Montoya è ancora un pilota velocissimo. E' questa la considerazione che traggo dopo averlo visto a bordo della Ferrari F2008 durante l'edizione 2021 del Finali Mondiali Ferrari. Ci troviamo sul circuito del Mugello durante la sessione dedicata ai clienti privati possessori delle monoposto del cavallino. Montoya è stato invitato a provare la monoposto F2008 e lo spettacolo non è mancato! Il pilota colombiano, ricordiamolo è campione della F3000 Internazionale nel 1998, della Formula CART nel 1999 e due volte vincitore della 500 Miglia di Indianapolis nel 2000 e nel 2015. Annovera tre vittorie alla 24 Ore di Daytona nel 2007, 2008, e 2013, 7 successi nei Gran Premi di Formula 1, vincitore di una Race of Champions nel 2017 e del campionato IMSA SportsCar WeaterTech nel 2019. Come ben capite il piede non gli manca. Ha guidato la F2008, vettura che nel 2008 ha vinto il titolo costruttori nel campionato del Mondo di Formula 1, all'epoca con i piloti Kimi Räikkönen e Felipe Massa. La monoposto, progettata da Aldo Costa è mossa dal motore Ferrari 056, un V8 da 2.4-Litri capace di sviluppare 750cv abbinato ad un cambio longitudinale a 7 rapporti + retromarcia. Vettura con monoscocca in fibra di carbonio a nido d'ape è estremamente leggera, solo 605 Kg. Eh, hai ragione, sarebbe stato bello. In quel periodo con Williams-bmw, tra l'altro era l'unico avversario serio per Ferrari.

Penso che avrebbe fatto benissimo in ferrari. A volte si fa fatica a capire come certi talenti restino confinati in realta' meno vincenti. Peccato.

Impossibile in quegli anni concepire una cosa del genere... poi ebbe attriti con Schumacher e di conseguenza con la Ferrari stessa. Era un pilota irruento e poco ragionevole, ha fatto la fine che meritava cioè svanire nel nulla. Sai cosa mi dispiace? Mi dispiace che quest'anno un pilota talentuoso come Giovinazzi lasci la Formula 1 per sempre, siamo nel 2021 e un pilota come Raikkonen ex campione del mondo in Ferrari quindi non l'ultimo arrivato abbia detto dopo l'ultimo Gran Premio che la Formula 1 sono solo soldi, la pura verità. Noi limitiamoci a goderci le macchine come in questo video.

JPM in a Ferrari is a dream test! My wife and I had never heard of him until his rookie year in CART which he won the championship (with his rookie tail light flashing) and we were hooked! He has been one of our favorites ever since!
Also in Europe, Montoya, is a very popular pilot and has many fans. So it was an absolute pleasure to see him at the wheel of an F1. Indeed, the years have changed him; he has put on a few kgs, his hair has turned grey, but his driving talent and speed have remained intact 😉

What could have been of Montoya if he hadn't left for Cart and stayed in Formula 1. He was one of my favorite drivers and he was amazing in cold starts. Loved how he wasn't scared of MS or anyone else.

El sueño de muchos, ver a Montoya conduciendo un Ferrari! Grandioso. Verlo tomar las curvas a esa velocidad te deja claro que a pesar de su edad mantiene su talento intacto. Lo que pudo ser si Montoya no se hubiera ratirado tan temprano de la F1.
Tiene toda la razón, sin embargo, como suele suceder, son los patrocinadores quienes deciden qué pilotos deben competir en la F1. Estoy de acuerdo, hubiera sido genial si se hubiera quedado en la F1 por mucho más tiempo. Y finalmente, viste bien, aquí no solo condujo sino que lo hizo empujando el auto con fuerza, como un verdadero campeón.

@@miguelzapatista Gracias, eres tan amable. Tengo que decirte que tuve mucha suerte de ver a Montoya ese día, nadie sabía nada. Entonces vi su casco y me di cuenta de que era él. Afortunadamente tuve la oportunidad de verlo en boxes. Pero cuando empezó a rodar en pista a bordo del Ferrari me puse a sonreír porque me di cuenta de que su talento es grande, han pasado los años pero sigue siendo un piloto muy rápido. Me alegra haber compartido este vídeo porque creo que es un trozo de historia, el que muchos de nosotros nos hemos preguntado a lo largo de los años "Quién sabe cómo habría sido la carrera de Montoya como piloto de Ferrari". Desafortunadamente, esto no sucedió, pero el destino quería que él condujera un Ferrari después de años y esto es hermoso.

No tengo duda de que Juan Pablo hubiera sido campeón del mundo si hubiera tenido el mejor carro. Peleó con un Williams inferior y estuvo muy cerca. La F1 lleva décadas sin superar ese hecho. Solo gana el que tiene el mejor carro. Pilotos inferiores a JPM han sido campeones porque tuvieron un mejor carro y un equipo volcado en que ganaran.
Aún al verlo competir hoy, se le nota la consistencia. Gracias JPM por tan buenas carreras.

@@facundobeta90000 difiero enooooormenete sobre su apreciacion, ejemplo caso button y barichello 2009. sin contar la ejemonia 2014 hasta nuestros dias, por eso digo Hamilton es un Excelente Piloto en un Vehiculo Excepcional, pero Max este año fue un piloto excepcional en un vehiculo excelente. en f1 gana el vehiculo 75% y piloto 25%

Claro, penso nisso de vez em quando. Acho que se Ayrton ainda estivesse vivo, ele iria definitivamente para os paddocks e para o mundo do automobilismo. Sentimos falta deste grande piloto e sentimos falta de não poder tê-lo aqui, em sua velhice como piloto, enquanto ele conta e ensina os jovens sobre suas façanhas automotivas.

Ver a JuanPa de nuevo en un formula, me hizo aguar los ojos literalmente. Si ya estaba emocionado de ver nuestra compatriota Tatiana Calderón probando el Alfa Romeo. Esto es de no creer! 😃
Escuchar de nuevo el sonido agudo y tan caracteristico de este monoplaza, me recordó aquellos momentos donde media Colombia madrugaba los domingos a ver cada carrera de la F1 acompañando desde nuestras casas a Montoya en la escudería del ya desapareccido Sir Frank Williams. (Juan aun en Colombia hay quienes estamos orgullosos de tus logros dentro y fuera de la F1)

Esse cara mesmo só correndo no GT e com uma idade até avançada pra pilotar ainda mostra que esta em altissimo nivel,parece que foi ontem que ele saiu como campeão da F2000,brilhou na Indycar saindo de lá com um titulo e 2 Indy 500 na bagagem direto pra F1,sou fã assumido dele

Deberían hacer una carrera de campeones o un pequeño torneo en la F1 , así como en el fútbol que juegan los retirados un partido especial para despedir a otro jugador o recaudar fondos.

Esta es realmente una idea maravillosa. Solo la FIA nunca hará eso. A veces pienso lo mismo sobre los rallies y los coches del Grupo B. El problema es que si los jóvenes de hoy ven cómo era el automovilismo hace unas décadas, se dan cuenta de lo triste y monótono que se ha vuelto el automovilismo actual.
hay ya carreras con coches antiguos donde corren antiguos pilotos, no se como se llama pero sé q el año pasado hicieron un gp en monaco, buscalo en yt

Tienes razón, muchos han comentado preguntando por los tiempos, lamentablemente no los conocemos. Pero estoy de acuerdo contigo, realmente aprecié que Montoya se sintiera cómodo de inmediato con este auto y lo condujera al máximo y no solo fuera a caminar. Otra demostración más de que cuando una persona es un verdadero conductor, se necesita muy poco tiempo para adaptarse al automóvil que conduce e inmediatamente tratar de encontrar el máximo potencial del automóvil. Carecemos de conductores como Montoya.

Creo que un piloto de F1, incluso a medida que envejece, nunca olvida cómo conducir un coche de Fórmula Uno, especialmente personas tan talentosas como Montoya 👍
JP Montoya mi è sempre sembrato uno che canta fuori dal coro , forse anche come persona oltre che come pilota. Il "piede" non manca , il talento nemmeno , ma non ho mai capito se in Formula 1 gli sia mancata la macchina migliore o la testa.
Mi verrebbe da dire che l'auto non era di certo la più competitiva. Nessun dubbio che sia stato un grande pilota, anche io l'ho sempre ammirato.

Sicuramente dal 2001 al 2003, la Williams con motore BMW è stata una vettura molto competitiva. Nel 2004 ottiene scarsi risultati. Molti diedero la colpa alle gomme. Non saprei, probabilmente telaio/gomme insieme non erano all'altezza. Montoya passò nel 2005 e 2006 alla McLaren. Il primo anno l'auto andava molto forte, arrivarono secondi in campionato, mentre ricordo imbarazzanti problemi di affidabilità e rotture di motore nella stagione 2006. Sono dispiaciuto che Montoya sia andato via dal circus F1, forse avrebbe meritato altre occasioni e monoposto competitive, il talento c'era e mi verrebbe da dire, c'è sempre stato.

Montoya è stato in gran pilota...forse l'unico assieme ad Alonso che ha dato fastidio a Schumacher (mi riferisco ovviamente nel dopo Hakkinen)...io penso che se Montoya avesse avuto una macchina più competitiva tipo Renault e Ferrari avrebbe vinto almeno un mondiale

Montoya is a true racer who can still drive - McLaren just signed him up to drive their 3rd car for the Indy GP and 2022 Indy 500! I would not be surprised to see him back in a Penske Porche in WEC or IMSA somerime in the future.
To see Montoya compete in the WEC would be wonderful 👍

En sus ojos se ve lo que siente, me imagino q volvío a sentir esa adrenalina de cuando competía y sentirse con una motivación inimaginable y mucha euforia dentro de sí.
Así es, les puedo decir que apenas se bajó se quedó sin palabras pero aún tenía una gran sonrisa, la gente le hacía preguntas y él sonreía con los ojos bien abiertos. Creo que la adrenalina de un F1 es algo único y luego, como dices, todos los recuerdos y sentimientos de cuando competía en el campeonato mundial de F1 volverán a su mente.

I can also tell you that I filmed other pilots driving F1 cars on the same day, but when I saw Montoya push hard, you could see the difference between a gentleman driver and a professional pilot.
