The stock cams are actually pretty aggressive. The engine runs smooth because of the independent cam timing. They lock the cam timing at certain degrees and that causes them to chop.
@DavyDave1313 The coyote engine is equipped with 4 camshafts. Each camshaft has a camphaser. The cam phaser allows the camshaft timing to be advanced or retarded in relation to the crankshaft. By retarding the timing on the exhaust camshafts and advancing the intake camshafts you increase the overlap of the intake and exhaust valves. This causes the length of time that the intake and exhaust valves are open at the same time to be extended. The benefits are increasing horsepower and peak torque. The cons are loss of low speed torque/drive ability, rough idle, and loss of engine vacuum at idle. The rough idle gives the car that chopping sound that people like.

Mustang guy,, this is very true, I have a foxbody with a 402w and the cam is 252/260 duration and it’s cut on a 109 lsa. It bucks surges and if you have a steep set of gear you won’t have to slip the clutch,, but yeah the coyote engine with a lope tune is pretty smooth compared to the big cammed foxbody
It’s literally not a problem get the tune. Nothing wrong with the tune, ran my gt350 on the Lund cam tune for most of its life. Fuel mileage is literally no different while driving. All the things he “complained” about are literally to be expected.
Lol this dude doesn’t even know about cams and the “inconsistent” lopes. Had a 89 302 280h comp in it. Had inconsistent lope timing just like any other cammed v8
I have the ghost cam tune and honestly it isn't that bad. You do have to constantly push the clutch more and also every start up you have to wait until it starts chopping, because it'll jerk the car alot or it will shut off . Also you don't have to keep it constantly at 1200 rpm, I have mine set at stock idle rmp and the rpms go up by themselves. One last thing when you have your AC on and you're at a stop you have to roll down the windows because the fumes will go inside your car so if it's raining or cold or hot you're going to have to face it.
if your ghost cam tune affects driving then it was made wrong! it should be under idle controling and not actual ignition map ecu distinguishes between idling and driving
Any mechanical/performance issues good or bad that you noticed running the ghost cam all the time? It’s also my weekend/nice days ride don’t really care about loudness and gas mileage 😁. Thanks in advance. About to load the tune this weekend!!!
“When you turn the A/C on it changes it, it’s a funny feature” 😂. No it’s called load and when you turn the A/C on it loads the engine down, also known as lowering the rpm which in turn makes it chop more
i could see this being a problem for me because at lights when i know its about to turn green ill let my clutch out to the bite point where youll start moving without hitting the gas and with the rpm so low i can imagine that chop will make my car lurch in sync with the chop until i actually get going. that kinda sucks but this tune sounds so cool
I wonder why the hell Ford decides to switch the tack and speed back and forth on different year cars? My '01 and my '13 (both manuals) have the tach on the right side.
So young man I know for a fact you have never driven any type of vehicle with a camshaft. Everything you just complained about with the ghost cam is no different than if you had a real camshaft in a fox body Mustang no matter if it was F.I. or Carburated. You have google at your fingertips to educate yourself before making comments. look up why camshafts sound the way they do and don't go on Mustang 6G or other forums. Go to Comp, Edelbrock, Crower, or call them to get yourself well versed on the subject of camshafts and also how an engine really works and I'm not being funny. Hey I just watched a video of a guy that does those tunes he explained that the tune is creating a misfire so it's messing with your timing at idol he explained that it doesn't really hurt the motor you are going to use more fuel. You might go through plugs more but all in all it's not going to hurt your motor. The tune is made to only engage at idle. I think it sounds great and honestly for the money we pay for these cars you think that it would have that sound from the factory. They would sell more cars right, everyone loves that sound. Stage 3 cams and Detroit rockers that's what I'm eventually going to do. Be safe no disrespect.
Funny how can trans and engine fight each when its manual transmission car. I've had many cars with big cams drive just fine auto or manual trans. My 70 mach1 with solid roller in 351C 4V .670 lift and would scream to 8000 RPM with auto trans. That car make your sound smooth with its idle. Or Cobra II with 347 with 5 speed not as wild as my 70 is but its right up there. My brother looking at ghost tune for his coyote in 01 cobra. Biggest actually real issue is ghost cam tune with cats still in. Since you have long tube headers most likely no cats soooo yes you will smell fuel
AC on adds more load hence why it changes. Does this on and Cammed car. Also no Cammed car just chops the same the whole time. Watch my Cammed 3 valve chop and you’ll know. It’s a cycle.
it changes when you hit the ac button because the added resistance of the pump being on drops the rpm super slightly, just enough to make a difference to just hear. me personally i like the inconsistency. like how a carbed, cammed engine sounds.
This is exactly what I ordered. I think I'm going to cry about it for 10 minutes because I put a crap exhaust system on my car. Fight the transmission 😂 OMG 😂
To me, mustangs and cam chop doesn’t go together. The coyote especially already sounds amazing at idle with that DOHC. These tunes sound better on challengers or Camaros.
It's baffling that in 2021/2022 it takes several, several minutes to load a tune. You'd think you could save the tune to your phone, or laptop or tuning device, turn off the car, upload the tune and drive off, literally 30 seconds from beginning to end.
Honestly for #2 my E46 just does that xD cause of a clutch delay valve but also same for 3 with the gas I have a muffler delete and removed an engine management fuse to increase fuel rate for them sweet diy pops
no your clutch does not do that because of the delay valve. the whole point of the delay valve is so you cant hard dump the clutch... and just what fuse did you remove?
This video and the related comments are what's wrong with society! I want my car to sound cool and for people to think it's fast, and I want it instantly without knowing or learning anything about cars (e.g. wow man clicking on the a/c made the idle change), but I want it to drive like my grandmother's Buick. ARGHHH.
These are all normal BIG bam things, realistically even if you put real BIG cams in your 5.0 it wouldnt even chop it would idle smooth like normal. you need a tune to let the car chop regardless because it locks cam positioning at idle. you have 4 cams, its not going to chop like a single cam LS.
@@persianstig Sounds like the tuner hasnt tuned the ghost cam properly.. other companies only allow ghost cam in neutral only.. so none of the issues you mentioned are an issue. Try a different tuner? or ask the tuner to adjust it?
Good vid...as a 2011 Camaro SS owner with fbo and cam the lope of a real cam isn't consistent? But running a ghost cam causes more idiots wanting to try you. Tons of people ask me what my set up is. What do you say when asked?
I use to live in SF too! Honestly you won’t have much problems with this tune. Daily driving isn’t recommended though, you would use a lot more of clutch if you’re stick shift. Glad you liked the video🙏🏼
Everything your saying is exactly what a built engine does. The chop comes from locking the cams in place. Other cars like Chevy or dodge don't have vct like coyote engines so they chop with bigger cams. Coyote engines don't chop with big cams because of vct . Also this isn't hurting the engine nor the car. You're just not used to modified cars. If you put bigger cams in any engine that doesn't have vct this is exactly what they do. You have the benefit of going back to a smooth idle . Most others don't. Ford did good with that part.
Wait so you’re telling that if I were to get a Lund ghost cam tune on my mustang I won’t be able to race it anymore since I could blow out my engine since it’s forcing it so much or can that be fixed with other modifications?
Thank You for taking the time to do this. Personally your car is to loud. I do get the attraction to the Ghost Cam and I agree with you about chopping thru the car show, But driveabilty takes presetence. Yep something I don't want to waste time or money on.
AC sounds different because itll be running something extra thats normal and you should just run the AC to change the engine sound 🤣 Also slipping clutch a bit is fine especially when it weighs nothing like that thing

Thanks for the review, your reason #2 is the only thing keeping me from getting it now.
Thank you for the support haha! Thats why I did the video🙏🏼
@@persianstig yw, subscribed since you do mustang stuff lol.
It’s literally not a problem get the tune. Nothing wrong with the tune, ran my gt350 on the Lund cam tune for most of its life. Fuel mileage is literally no different while driving. All the things he “complained” about are literally to be expected.
@@crowdsurfpp2192 really like no difference in fuel mileage at all?
I guess mine was a bit different
You did it yourself take it to a professional
if your ghost cam tune affects driving then it was made wrong!
it should be under idle controling
and not actual ignition map
ecu distinguishes between idling and driving
I run my ‘17 GT Ghost all the time but I also have other cars to drive, love that tune!!!
Any mechanical/performance issues good or bad that you noticed running the ghost cam all the time? It’s also my weekend/nice days ride don’t really care about loudness and gas mileage 😁. Thanks in advance. About to load the tune this weekend!!!
Dude I couldn’t thank you enough for actually selling me on a Ghost Cam tune!
“When you turn the A/C on it changes it, it’s a funny feature” 😂. No it’s called load and when you turn the A/C on it loads the engine down, also known as lowering the rpm which in turn makes it chop more
yeah I know didn’t really want to explain much on it, I know people want to hear more of the car. just things that I noticed using the tune
i could see this being a problem for me because at lights when i know its about to turn green ill let my clutch out to the bite point where youll start moving without hitting the gas and with the rpm so low i can imagine that chop will make my car lurch in sync with the chop until i actually get going. that kinda sucks but this tune sounds so cool
Definitely is a good tune! Just have to be familiar with its driving quirks!
I love it on my 18 mustang but I got an automatic so I don't have all that slip clutch
Oh yeah, I am sure it is a lot easier to drive lol!
Sounds like you don’t like the combination of the tune with your exhaust. Your exhaust was raspy with stock tune. Magnified with ghost tune
Ghost cam is ideal of car show/meet ups
A/C changes the exhaust tone slightly with any car
bro i like your ecoboost what exhaust is it i really love the build
One guy that is awesome to listen to and watch and learn from is Steve Morris on youtube.
1. cams in a 5.0 do hardly anything for performance but sound nice
2. Literally everything you complained are part of a truly built car.
Yes they do lol comp cams stage 3 have a 50-60 hp gain past 6000rpm which is a big gain
@@carlosandresh__ still not worth it, by the time you get them installed, tuned, along with all the supplemental equipment needed to run them you’d be better off just saving your cash and buying a supercharger.
@@javimartinez1801 you miss the point of reliability but hey it all depends on what you plan on doing with the car. Fun everyday beater and fast stay n/a. Big power weekend only beater then a blower would make sense Bc you can break shit a lot Easier with a supercharger if this makes sense.
Oh yeah, I'm sure the neighbors don't mind your standard tune at all! 🤣 Seriously though, great video!
Thank you!
"the huck and buck"
Oh you mean like an actual big boy cam when you bog it.
The tune is downloaded. If you read a tune from the ecu you Upload.
Everything you listed is what a cammed LS car does. Uneven changing chop, will buck at low rpm, and loud lol
This is exactly what I ordered. I think I'm going to cry about it for 10 minutes because I put a crap exhaust system on my car. Fight the transmission 😂 OMG 😂
That sucker is so loud sheesh I love it....I wAnt a S550 Auto Coyote 5.0 so bad ugh ....My old ass shit bucket 06 3 Valve GT has issues lol 😂
Another thing people put a ghost tune on a mustang to make them sound better almost a ls chopping sounds
Question besides the cam tune, what’s your full exhaust setup? Sounds like pure bliss
Thank you! Its Borla Headers with the Mbrp Cat-back
@@persianstig do you still have the cats on? I'm reading take them off with this tune because they'll burn up.. but I'd rather not
What mufflers are you running? Sounds awesome even without the tune.
Thanks.
Thank you! Its Borla Headers with the MBRP black series cat-back
I saw a vid where a guy has it, but he doesn't drive around on it.. He just has it for show..
yeah its harder to drive with it!
To me, mustangs and cam chop doesn’t go together. The coyote especially already sounds amazing at idle with that DOHC.
These tunes sound better on challengers or Camaros.
Dude the gt has a race cam already. Modern technology takes that away.
Where do you live where it's rare to hear a mustang sound cammed cause round my way every mustang is cammed or running that tune
california
It's baffling that in 2021/2022 it takes several, several minutes to load a tune.
You'd think you could save the tune to your phone, or laptop or tuning device, turn off the car, upload the tune and drive off, literally 30 seconds from beginning to end.
if only it was possible
ARGHHH.
Hey do your headers have cats on them? And are they the longtubes?
Number 1 should be because it sounds like it broken just idling
You don’t buy the car for gas mileage you buy it to have fun and enjoy
Whats the quote from Billy Madison.... "we are all now dumber for having listened to you"
I was the 1000th like 🎉
Thank you so much for the like!🙏🏼
How does the 6R80 like the ghost cam tune?
Bro if you don't like ghost cam send to me I want it
These are all normal BIG bam things, realistically even if you put real BIG cams in your 5.0 it wouldnt even chop it would idle smooth like normal. you need a tune to let the car chop regardless because it locks cam positioning at idle. you have 4 cams, its not going to chop like a single cam LS.
Yeah exactly!
What is your exhaust/ header setup?
Borla Headers, with mbrp cat-back
No cam chops consistently. Even real cams.
With these tunes it is way more than actual cams, mainly wanted to point out the A/C thing🏁
@@persianstig Sounds like the tuner hasnt tuned the ghost cam properly.. other companies only allow ghost cam in neutral only.. so none of the issues you mentioned are an issue. Try a different tuner? or ask the tuner to adjust it?
@@TheDarkhorse82 sounds to me like they have it set correctly, it would do everything that a real cam would do for the car
Car sounds different when a/c is on cause draws more amps from battery more less draws more power from battery
There is a different trim when the ac is on
Good vid...as a 2011 Camaro SS owner with fbo and cam the lope of a real cam isn't consistent? But running a ghost cam causes more idiots wanting to try you. Tons of people ask me what my set up is. What do you say when asked?
Definite gains just how it needs to be
only down side is the rich smell without cats...
yeah its a lot worse with the tune
Thanks for a great video. 4-16-23
Thanks for watching!
What wheels and tires do you have on your car??
i had vertini wheels and was 315 in the rear and 275 in the front
Dam gorge Michael's that was the weekest pull I ever seen #buttuner
Idk if you’re new to racing but every car has an inconsistent chop with cams lol
Nice plate frame and blue line! Has that kept you out of any tickets?
Haha Thank you! and yes it has, such a life saver
Bro the chop clears and go take it from a pushrod guy lol from my experience whith mild cams.
Please get into a Miata ASAP bro.
lol
I daily drive my 2020 GT, this tune is not recommend for daily driving? I live in SF. Would I have any issues?
Thank you for the info! Forsure its nice to have variety I guess, but you can definitely hurt something if you dont know how to drive with it
Sounds like a John Deere tune
Can this mess up your car on the long run? What if your daily drive your car everyday?
No it shouldn’t, if you know how to drive with it nothing should happen :)
Wait so you’re telling that if I were to get a Lund ghost cam tune on my mustang I won’t be able to race it anymore since I could blow out my engine since it’s forcing it so much or can that be fixed with other modifications?
Nooo you wont blow out your engine, just if you don’t know how to drive it properly like any cammed car you can mess something up🏁
Any HP gain? Just wondering
this is so confusing to me, ive seen all different videos of the lund tune and every single one sounds different
It could be exhaust
Wait what did you expect from a ghost cam tune? 🤣
When I first got it….a bit similar in stock drivability. But yeah definitely is a pro and con to it
Thank You for taking the time to do this. Personally your car is to loud. I do get the attraction to the Ghost Cam and I agree with you about chopping thru the car show, But driveabilty takes presetence. Yep something I don't want to waste time or money on.
Glad you liked the video! Thats why I did it so it hopefully is more clear on what its like
It’s free and takes 3 mins to upload
you made me want this now!@@persianstig
AC sounds different because itll be running something extra thats normal and you should just run the AC to change the engine sound 🤣
Also slipping clutch a bit is fine especially when it weighs nothing like that thing
👍🏼🏁
U have to leave the car on while putting a tune on the S550 Coyote Auto?
you dont have to!
What’s with the thin blue line gang decal on your car man?
Just wishful thinking for cops to be nicer to me incase i run the ghost cam tune😅
@@persianstig brilliant
Sounds like you have cams now with Ghost cam tune Chop
Very informative brother. Thanks for posting. I have a 2013 Boss with TT I am thinking of adding a cam tune to….
thats insane bro! Yeah if you dont drive it too often I say go for it
You all gay. Why not put a speaker to run engine sounds??
Im going to go out on a limb here and guess you hire out labor on your vehicles 😅
because i don’t have tools to do it
I hit my ac button and my car turned off with my demo tune
