I live and drive in northern Alberta. I own and operate a tandem drive Peterbilt and regularly travel up into the Yukon and Northwest Territories year round. Your friend is absolutely correct. Single drive axles are no good for traction when it gets slippery. You need tandem drives at least. You can option 'double lock-ups' rear ends too. That means you get 8 X 8 wheels driving. Thats what I have, never been stuck, haven't chained up in 20 years.
Get it togeather america 6x4 is for offroad use. Get an 6x2 with an lift axel so when you are empty or with a light load you can lift the third axel and save your tyres and fuel
we here over in europe cant understand why 6X4 trucks are so muched used in america. for so light weight transports a 6X2 is much better for weight, fuel and traction. that if its a lift axle. we even have air dump on the 6X4s for exra options when the going gets difficult.
I love this truck the sleeping it’s beauty but 10th speed automatic transmission not to smart and the reverse speed not good it needs better ishiff transmission, thanks again
designed by engineers, not by truckers (the end customers) who ultimately use it. truck makers need to pay attention to ergonomics, driver comfort, and driver security. kenworth, and even the upscale volvo, both fail in these categories.
Enjoyed all of your test drive series
Love the aero look! And automatic transmission 😁
My friend who drives in Northern Alberta tells me the 4 tires on the back are no good in winter compared to the 8 tires. Any other opinions on this?
