    Three gay men sharing a bed and when they wake up the one on the right side said I had a dream last night someone was tossing me off, the one on the left side said I had exactly the same dream, the one in the middle said I had a dream I was skiing :)

      They recently made another comedy sketch about the same dad.
      Still very ignorant and bigoted. Out of touch because he doesn't think that it's ok to pump children with puberty blockers, cross-sex hormone treatment and perform double mastectomies on 12-year-old girls.

    This was actually called Gay Son. Why have some people tried to change the name? Unfortunately the best one can't be found online any more, and I mean anywhere. Was a great follow up with one of the finest lines I've ever heard. Harry, holding a tray of mince pies - son's new boyfriend asks "mince pie?" - Harry replies "sure, let me get out of your way". Amazing.

    I'm 61 and my dad was the same. He also recognised that people from different parts of the world had different ways and values and was not backward at pointing this fact out. He didn't dislike them and we had a lot of different coloured friends and neighbours.
    My thoughts are that we live in such a diverse country here in the UK that we've stopped noticing it.
    Of cause we now have big problems with the latest of the issues in the middle east, not that this is anything new.

    • @ramsey6681
      @ramsey6681 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I don't think people have _stopped_ noticing - it's more a case of _pretending_ not to notice these days, out of fear of being labelled.
      Which is a shame, because the mark of any good relationship (in my opinion anyway) is the ability to good-naturedly take the piss out of ourselves and each other without causing offence.
      A great example of this is a story my best mate tells of when he was living in Portugal in the 90s...
      A big group of ex-pats used to hang out together, and they decided to have a fancy dress party one night.
      My mate went as Vyvian from The Young Ones, and everyone was having a great time laughing and joking.
      Then someone walked in dressed in full KKK robes - peaked hood, the lot.
      The bar went silent and everyone stared in horror, not knowing how to react.
      In the midst of this terrified silence, the 'white supremacist' whipped off his hood...
      And it was a black guy they knocked about with!
      Apparently the room (and the atmosphere) burst with laughter.
      I love that story! Self deprecation and a sense of humour can alleviate all sorts of problems! Whereas being uptight and actively seeking offence everywhere you look (as appears to be the 'modern' way) does nothing but cause them.
      Here's to a return to the seemingly lost days of fun & laughter that we're desperately trying to find again! 🍻🥂😉

    • @coot1925
      @coot1925 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@ramsey6681 I totally agree.
      When I look back at shows like "love thy neighbour" and "mind your language",
      These shows were loved by everyone no matter what their ethnicity.
      I think it depends on which part of the country you live in as to whether you normalise different ethnicities.
      If you live in London, like me, the site of different looking people is part of every day life, but if you live in somewhere like Cornwall it's more of a novelty.
      But you're right, we need to learn how to take a joke again and stop looking for an excuse to be offended, after all, sarcasm and piss taking is a British national sport and the only one we can win at.
      😂✌❤🇬🇧

      @@coot1925 Over 40 years ago I managed a theatre and twice in the space of 3 years we had The Black & White Minstrel Show as the Summer show. The audience was as mixed as they come because people loved the music, the specatacle, the humour and more importantly didn't take offence on behalf of others who weren't in the least bit offended.

    Relating to those of "African Persuasion - Bill Burr" my late Father would remark on their athletic prowess and put it down to having to run away from Lions. He was joking. He worked with someone in the motor industry in Liverpool who's nickname was the ironic "Chalky." He talked of him fondly.
    There was one moment that summed up the generational divide and proved to me that he didn't have a racist thought in his head. I was living in the US of all places, having dinner in a restaurant with my American wife, her family and my Dad. Having a normal conversation and spoke of a friend and named him. His name was Mike. My Wife asked which one? The black one I said. My Dad looked horrified, leaned over and whispered "You're supposed to say coloured!"
    Obviously I discreetly gave him a history lesson on why that word should never be used and why. Especially in the US!!
