How to Build a Cheap Possum Box

In this episode we construct a possum box/house using second hand fence palings to try and encourage a couple of possums living in our roof to move out.

I would have placed the pieces (braces) you screwed into the wood on the outside to give the possum more room. It is not waterproof so when it rains it will be wet on the inside. (Only paint the outside) You should have placed a channel that ran along the roof line so the drip of rain would not filter back to the box.
You need some weather proofing (a strip) on the roof where it opens by the hinges. Your design would work ONLY in a climate where it rarely rains. You are new to carpentry. You CANNOT USE TREATED WOOD.

Thanks so much for sharing this. We just got blessed with our little Appleblossom the Candler park Georgia possum. They will be snacking on the bugs and snakes that have been found in our wild back yard… after supper rich in veggies and left over kibbles of course :3

Why not just use plywood?

Plywood would be a great option. I wanted to try using materials I had at hand, rather than go out and buy some.
