How To Make A Possum Box

- I had a possum running around under my house so I built a nesting box for him. Possums are often seen as pests but making a possum box is a good way to get them out of your house and into a more appropriate home. It's made from a small sheet of plywood and a few basic tools.

The bottom must have 4 holes to let the water escape from the box.

Nice how to video! Thanks. We have loads of possums in are yard but they really seem to like my shed and back patio. I decided to build them their own little condo. Let's see how that works out.

Very misunderstood animal.They a beneficial to have around. They are not nasty and dirty and do not carry rabies. Not impossible but very rare due to their low blood temp.

Love this! I'd love to have the roles you do. Would you build more? There are dozens of places taking boxes and pouches for displaced animals due to the NSW bushfires.
The possum take residence in the box? I have a possum and he needs shelter because he is partially paralyzed on his hind legs. He gets her way around well enough, But it’s a struggle. So me and my family have taken it upon herself to take care of him.
I'd be charging the little critter rent. Double if he brings a friend over for the night. 😀

There are protection laws about possums worth looking at. This is the best option.

I'm going to see if my husband will make a couple of these for me. I try to feed the possums, but the foxes usually get most of the food first. Maybe this would allow the possums to get to the food sooner, and I am sick of seeing them hit in the street. 😫

I've got a whole family in my roof! I picked up a ply sheet from bunnings yesterday but I'm having trouble figuring out how to lay fhe cuts out. Did you have a plan you used?

Very nice video and instructive. We are very much into animal protection (and animal rights) no matter what the species. I do have a question perhaps you could help.
By any chance would you know where I could get plans (or ideas) on building a raccoon's den. I think the hard part is figuring a suitable size. Right now there's a raccoon (and possible babies) living in the eve and small attic area over our porch. I don't want to evict him/her (it will be in a humane way) until they have a place to go and when I know any babies are old enough for relocation. I am having trouble finding any detailed plans as everything I am finding is more generic. I thought I'd ask a person such as yourself who cares about animals. Thanks.
