Love this. Just went through an anxious time where my housing security was threatened, so lots of lower chakra emotional stuff affecting digestion. I loved this practise! I would like to ask you two questions Melissa. The first one is: How does the body and the mind know when to switch from muscles to connective tissue? My second one is: I live in a cold country( Scotland ) and am close to 70. I get colder and colder during a practice. I make sure that the room is warmly heated and wear lots of layers. Nothing works. Why do you think this is happening ? Thank you so much for your answers and for letting me share your practise.
Hi Maria, These are excellent questions. The first question the answer has to do with the way we treat our body. In exercise and even hatha yoga and vinyasa yoga we move our muscles with fast and rhythmic motion, which warms the muscles and keeps the affect at the superficial layer of the muscles. With yin yoga we soften the muscles, we stay for awhile and apply long-held traction to coax chi and blood through the dense tissue. By pulling and pressurizing the connective tissue, slowly over time, softening the muscles we access the dense and less pliant connective tissue. As far as being cold, this is not necessarily a bad thing. You actually do not want the muscles to be warm, you want them to be cool again to get into the deeper layers of the connective tissues. So to me, this is a sign that you are accessing the deeper layers of your body. Namaste, Melissa

I loved this practise! I would like to ask you two questions Melissa.
The first one is:
How does the body and the mind know when to switch from muscles to connective tissue?
My second one is:
I live in a cold country( Scotland ) and am close to 70.
