    That is indeed full of useful tips and informations fro those who want to try or improve in urban/architectural photography. Lots of things to understand and put to good use. Bravo, and thank you.
    One tip, from my side, from some guy who's been all over the World for his job (just as you, but related to aviation) and enjoyed creating images everywhere about everything. And in all imaginable conditions !
    When you have to shoot despite the wind, even the slightest and softest, always remove your camera strap. You were clever to chose the best one ever, from Peak design, and taking it off is a matter of 2 snaps, so it will be the easiest move of your whole session. For anyone stubborn enough to keep and use those dreadful branded camera straps (how can you ?), you can roll it and clamp it at one of the tripod leg. This crucial thing is to give the wind as less surface as possible, so it can't "take" on it and start to shake the camera.
    This is especially important when you want to create HDR final images (and must gather series of images), or want to create super-HR images with this pixel-shift technology found in some newer bodies (Sony, essentially). In both cases, even being off-centered by just a pixel can ruin the final image.
    And beware with hooking your backpack under the tripod's centre column, in between its legs. Those bags are often wide and full of bits for the wind to catch on. Better use the old water bottle trick, in a bag or tied under the cap, as it's rounded and offers minimal surface for the wind to swing it. Or a shoe lace, with a piece of steel or a rock tied at the bottom. In any case, you always want to give the wind as less surfaces as possible to do its tricks.
    And you also want to prefer bushes over straight walls to shelter from the wind. Walls enable wind to clim over then "fall" behind with whirlwinds as a result (this is pure Physics), when bushes break wind by dividing its force with branches and leaves. Behind thick bushes or trees you feel the wind but do not suffer from its power, this is why you find "natural fences" made of bushes and trees in orchards... never walls.

    Hello Ron, very interesting, and thanks for sharing. A couple of questions please. Firstly, do you ever focus stack any of your shots? Secondly, do you ever have problems with security guards trying to move you on from certain locations around the city? I did a shoot in London earlier this year, and the security staff around city hall were a constant interrupt.

      @WexPhotoVideo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Stephen, we have had some issues with filming around city hall. But if you go to the steps and stand one up, you are allowed to shoot there. Just not on the pavement next to the river.

    • @rontimehin6617
      @rontimehin6617 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Stephen, thanks for the kind words! I don't tend to focus stack however, it is a beneficial technique that I see other photographers use. Definitely play around with it! As for problems with security guards, I get stopped from time to time however, I explain what I am doing and sometimes they say ok no problem. Other times I am asked to move on and I do so. If I am shooting professional work or video content, then I will always apply for a permit. For example, for this video, we got permission from Barbican and Canary Wharf to film :)

      A lot of people go for the Sony body but the Sigma lenses or similar to begin with.
