Good video 👍. Years ago I did the full Bob Katz K-system calibration thing. The biggest lesson I got from that was listening at equivalent loudness to be able to hear the frequency response more accurately between different recordings - essential when comparing a mix with a reference track because most references have been mastered to a higher loudness and therefore needing to be turned down to the level of the mix.
Great overview! I usually do initial vocal automation at lower volume so I can focus on the midrange without the lows and especially the highs getting too much in the way.
What about making an eq curve that reverses the Fletcher Munson so we would be able to mix at low level but kind of listening at loud level ... is that an option?
I think that would throw off the balance of the mix. Better to just use your natural response to your advantage to get used to how it sounds at low/med/high levels.
hi, I stop this video to play some music to check if my dac is broken. no, music sounds good. so why I'm hearing distortion in your voice? is youtube problem? browser problem? TQ
I’d to better understand what it means from the perspective of balance, optimal gain staging, headroom. Or in other words how to be loud without losing technical headroom.
Great advice. That song on playback sounds good.

Quick and to the point overview!! Those who are intrigued can pursue it further!!
This has been extremely helpful to balancing the different mics on an acoustic drum kit
clear explanation! thanks a bunch

@@GreenLightSoundI would love to showcase our plugin that does just that and already endorsed by Grammy award winners such as Ricky Damian
What plugin, name? @@MrPoulluis
thanks!

It was a broken mic. Replaced since this video.

5k is not mid-range
with all due respect, it's considered by most engineers to be the very upper end of the midrange. Regardless, it doesn't really matter.
