Wow, that little booger is really loud! It also sounded really pissed! Damn taggers! Wow it got even louder with the cleaning disc. Thanks for the honest review. Can't wait for the next update on the layout. See ya.
The best track cleaner that I have found is the Woodland Scenics device. It is labor intensive but it works and it cleans the tracks. Your tracks are all accessible so it would not be a problem for you. I have tried all sorts of track cleaners and even polish but the Woodland Scenics track cleaner did the job well.
I have one of those too, but it's a different color scheme. I made a video when I gave it a shakedown run and it works really well. I use a small paintbrush to clean out the vacuum impeller.
Cool video. Never seen the Tomix track cleaning car in action before. I agree it may not be the best choice for you initial track cleaning attempt. Noise is too much. I found a company on eBay about a year ago. Espee makes track cleaning cars from an assortment of freights cars (multiple roads) with a few different pads that can be fitted for cleaning. Additional pads are sold separately. Does a good job and looks like a normal part of your manifest.
Well done KRPmodels and for the Tomix Track Cleaning Car it's also compatible with a Märklin Group Trix N scale trains and Kato N scale models too. If you have Märklin Trix Group DB Baureihe 155 DR BR 250 East Germany or DR BR132 you can combine that with a Tomix N scale cleaning car.
LOL good show. I have three of them I run the heavy grinder in the lead, The the vacuum second, the the wet last. That way I don't have to change them all the time. I made mine DCC with the DCC board that I got I think from Kato. I can look it up if you are interested. I pull mine with four engines. Two in front. Two in the rear. Works very well. Thanks for sharing. Oh they run much better if you replace the horn hook couplers with the T shank MT couplers.
@@NoFear2473651 Yeah they cost a little bit? But I use mine a lot. I did have to tweak them a bit. But I have been running them now for five years I think. Mine are yellow. I added details to get them to look better. The two end units I added windows and pipping. exhaust ports. Made look more real to me. Anyway. I run the crap out of them. Not to say I don't have the other track cleaning systems too. We call the set the rail grinding loco. Good luck and have fun. That why we are doing it any way Right?
Hi thia is my first visit to you ,ive had my cleaning car for over a year i bought a vinyl skin for it,looks cooll im in to n scale too but im in Scotland.
I have one of those tomix track cleaners. I put a digitrax decoder in mine. I've been told not to use the abrasive discs as it can apparently burn out the decoder.
Great video. The vacuum car is great but it takes some learning on it. If your running dcc you gotta upgrade the vac car to dcc which Mike Fifer has a great video on that. Dcc will burn out the motor on the vac car cause its set for dc. I had a issue with my vac car getting stuck cause no springs on the pads so I also recommend not using any brushes or pads on the vac car but instead pick up the CMX tank car. It works great. Rung the cmx tank in front followed by 2 or 3 locos, then the vac car. Works wonders on tracks
@@NoFear2473651 its a good video. And then you can controls the speed of the vacuum motor to. I added a blinking led to my vac car to make it more like a maintenance car
AWESOME car Kory!!! Really love it... hey as far as the operations with your buddy no worries.... you can clean the track, test all your locos and rolling stock and it will always be something bro. Every modelrailroader can just about say, when there is company it will show it's $@#?ing @!# !!!! Love the video bro! Keep um coming man!!!
Kory, I’ve always to get one of those track-cleaning cars but didn’t, because I always understood that you have to install a DCC decoder in them in order to run them on DCC layout. I’m wondering if I was wrong about that. ...Roy
From what iv been reading in other comments putting a dcc decoder in is ideal that way not to burn the unit out but it will run with no decoder like i demonstrated, for how long it will work with no decoder im not sure
We're you able to figure out the cleaning nozzle? As well, at the one end of the car, it has 2 holes to plug something in, it shows it in the instructions, but in Japanese, the Atlas English instructions don't talk about. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
I first saw these cars in Model Railroaded magazine, the HO-Scale ones by Atlas. It stated that the cleaning car is not self propelled, it requires a locomotive to move it. I assumed the N-Scale cleaning cars were the same way
That is awesome that you could do that lay out in your apartment. Good to see Vinny came by for a visit I met him a couple years ago at the Pomona Fairgrounds and been friends with him for the last 10 years
Hmmmm, need to create a MOW train, one car with a magnet to pick up any iron filings that may be laying around, one car with a simple cleaning pad and this tomix vacuum car.
That poor motor! Sounds like its little commutator is arcing, it's obviously not designed for full DCC voltage. Reminds me of a Cox .020 model airplane engine... If I get one of these cars I'll modify it with a "keep alive" circuit to even out the jittery pickup, and maybe also swap in some 6-wheel trucks for better pickup.
Was not prepared for just how LOUD it is! LOL Thanks for the video. 👍

lol yes it is.. it was really pissed lol thanks for watching! stay tuned
The sanding attachment makes it really loud, when I tried it I almost lost my hearing.

Have the old atlas version of that car, yellow instead of red, works pretty good
very cool, I just bought one of these cars for my HO scale layout!
Are you running the Tomix car on a DCC layout without putting in a DCC decoder? Thanks
Just received one but haven’t tried it yet. Definitely need to swap that Rapido coupler out on mine
Love the new stuff. I just ordered my farst bnsf unit can't wait to get it
Nice! Thanks for watching!
You have my support
nice update and a nice car work great

Lol I'm also in the process of changing out Kato couplers for those MT-7s

You are correct Roy. You will need to hard wire something similar to a TCS M1 or Digitrax DZ123 to take full advantage of the motor speed.

so this works on DCC layouts?
When are they going to equip them with knuckle couplers?
idk or at least include some in the box
Would be cool to have 3 run dry, vacuum, wet, boom all done
lol dont threaten me
thanks perfect
Niceee you listen to Travis
Kory- 70% alcohol works just fine in the tank.
Perfect thank you..ima try that tonight..
Cool
Darn those taggers! lol

around $70 dollars
