Self-fulfilling prophecy. They knew eventually McDonald’s would lose their quality over time, and it did. Worse, it has become unaffordable for many and unhealthy for most.

    Ray Kroc was a genius.
McDonald’s was a great restaurant chain, up until the 00’s. I was a kid in the sixties and loved Mc D’s. The Fish Filet was my favorite.

Probably right on the money with that one. I hate that we still don't have any locations in Arkansas but at the same time understand why they're so slow to expand.
One of the biggest disappointments I had when I visited Dallas was that all the In N Outs in the DFW metro were closed when I was visiting. There were employees in the store cleaning and performing maintenance. I walk up to the door and there was a sign about all locations in the metro being closed due to something that happened with their bun/bread supplier. I'm sure they could have went to any food service company in the metro and got something else to substitute, but they literally would rather not open the store than serve anything that is even remotely different than the product they are known for. It's why In N Out is known for being better than the average fast food.

If Cathy franchised his restaurant and left someone like Ray in charge to spread the company around CFA wouldn't have become a sensation and would have ended up like McDonald's

The brothers each got 1 million dollars back then when Ray bought them out, adjusted for inflation, they did really well, also I'm pretty sure Dick actually bought McDonald's stock with the money and look where it's at now.
I'm not saying Ray is a good guy, but from a business perspective, I would have done similar except try and bring the original Brothers into the fold instead of buying them out and taking over their creation. Who knows what McDonald's could've been if those three could've put aside their differences and worked together with their ideas.
Overall, even though the quality is nowhere near the same as it once was, they've helped feed a lot of people over the years, it may not be healthy, but it's better than starving and dying from hunger.
In the end both sides had good intentions and both knew the future of what McDonald's could be. The brothers knew that the quality would deteriorate over time, Ray knew that this could become a household name.
But it was wrong for Ray to cut em out, however at least both Mac and Dick didn't lose out entirely so it's not like they were left with nothing.
The other thing to point out was when Ray realized what business he was actually in, if he would have said no to that realtor who knows what that guy would've done, business can be cruel unfortunately but it's how it is whether anyone likes it or not.
