- What an incredible trip to Northern Manitoba fishing for GIANT Canadian Pike with my dad. Cormorant Lake had been on my radar for quite some time, and while I had fished it through the ice, this was my first time in the boat. Without some of the best Pike fishing I have ever experienced.

I've never seen any other TH-camr handle fish so well and keep them in the water between unhooking and measurements. Really impressive.

Loved this video. We have taken a yearly (pre-covid) road trip to Athapap for pike for the last 14 years, and this looked very similar with the quality and number of big fish. Our group has caught 86 master pike in Athapap over that timeframe and I always considered it among the best drive to pike lakes in Canada even though it's known for Lakers. Looks like Cormorant is in that class also. Get your dad to Athapap for that master pike!
Oh no, Corm is our little secret up here, especially end of season ice. Haha, awesome video Jay, top notch as always 👊🏽 Clearwater always steals the lime light and people don’t realize another half hour drive further down the road, there’s another huge lake and more awesome fishing.

I use a jointed neutrally buoyant Red White and Blue Bud Wiser Can crank bait . Seriously. They till hit anything in the strike zone.

As a European I have a question for ya, if you guys are targeting pike specifically and those oike happen to be really chunky, does that mean there aren't any Muskies in that lake and that's what allows the pike to become the apex predators in the area? Or are there muskies as well and do they get along just fine with their smaller cousins? Thanks!
No muskies in this lake. Lakes with only musky but no pike tend to have smaller musky on the average. lakes with a mixture seem to have better size of both.

Dude please get ur pops some salmo fatso's and sliders. They're awesome pike and musky baits the Lipless fatso is 5.5 in worth insane hang time have caught giant muskies and pike with mine and they're usually cheap which is the best part

Good vid but when i gotfor fish idc what pound test i have, i run 14 pound braid with medium 6.5 ft rod, you have to tire big fish out, theres no fun if you bring 60 pound test to catch a 10 pound fish, you just reef it in, dont mean to be rude but i had to deal with a fishing guide last year who threatened my life over having a fish on for too long so it just kinda gets me going, no hate tho love the vids
Honestly I wish the master angler numbers were set better, some of them are way too easy, and some are way too hard. The structure of it really isn’t the best. I like the concept, but whoever made it clearly doesn’t understand the idea of it well enough to have come up with perfect numbers for it lol.

Because I haven't fished too much in my life time, this place doesn't even LOOK like a lake! It looks like you and your dad are out as sea!!!!! That lake is freakin' HUGE!!!!! I'd love to have the opportunity to go fishing again on a lake like this. Also, because I'd grown up in the foster care system and on the streets, it is ALWAYS amazing (in a highly emotional way) when I see people fishing with their parents!!!! I absolutely LOVE this kinda stuff!!!!

i was there 2 years ago in august, really cool lake!! im from Alberta and didnt catch any monsters but caught lots of pike, i also fished Clearwater and got absolutley skunked!! is it a bad time of year for lake trout there? Or is it just my poor fishing abilities lol

Monster Pike in the late season can sit in mass in areas you don't expect. In late July and Aug, I will pull 40+ inch constantly from 20 to 30 feet on flat nothing bottom. I use lures that go down 12-15 feet and smash pike one after another. I have no idea why they are there, but they are. Generally mostly smaller ones are still in weeds with the odd good size one.
