  • Here I start to make a slip joint folder out of stainless Damasteel.
    in part one I cut out the parts refine them, drill the holes, grind and polish the bevels and make a filework on the blade and the spring.
    The handle scales I cut out of Titanium, refine and glue the giraffe bone onto. In part two I will get the blade and the spring heat treated. Refine the handle scales, polish all parts to a mirror finish, etch the Damasteel parts and fit all together.

    What hardware are you using for the pins?

    • @WildStyleWorks
      @WildStyleWorks  ปีที่แล้ว

      its different, often titanium and stainless steel like 304 or 316 depending on what it is for. i make most of the pins my self and some i buy on aliexpress or amazon, but most of the time i need something spezial 🙂

    Giraffe bone really? Wonder what human bone would look like? Quit watching once you stated.

    • @WildStyleWorks
      @WildStyleWorks  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      of course, i love giraff bone. it is a commonly used material for custom knife scales and giraffes are by no mean in any danger. there are more then enough of them. By the way human bone looks exactly the same as any other bone, we are also animals!!! I would use human bone if I were allowed to, but our law doesnt allow it. i´m sorry for you quit watching, the knife got pretty nice in the end. :-)

    • @cwiehle0

      @@WildStyleWorks I was just surprised you chose an exotic material in a tutorial. Why limit your viewership? The focus should be on slipjoint design without the distraction of materials used - and as far as "giraffes are by no mean in any danger" - that statement is quite contradictory, as the bones you are using are directly harvested from the dead animal. Look, I'm a not a member of the fringe left. I am a hobbiest knife maker myself. I honeslty think you'd do better in your future videos to focus on the work and not let the materials distract. If you want to be completely honest with yourself do a google search for giraffes endangered species and you may come to understand you choices ostensibly end up funding cartels and terrorists.

      @@cwiehle0 I am sorry but I find your comment to be disrespectful. He has gone out of this way to put in the time and effort to educate and share his knowledge and you have not even thanked him before adding your comment about the material.

    • @cwiehle0

      Wesley Wernimont do some research on how much giraffe bone is harvested illegally or acquired through black market then sold through legal companies before you give me any sh!t wes.

      Chris W Before writing anything read the comment I placed. Did I say anything about the bone? The answer is “No”. I said you were disrespectful so please get yourself strait before coming at me.
