What an amazing a line up and all the years that I have been recording train videos it’s not often that I have recorded this many units all on one train truly enjoyed this video!!
I haven't seen any of those Federal paperboard woodchip hoppers in 15 years! We used to always have a handful of them on NS 349 coming out of Raleigh. I was down in Rockfish this past weekend on the backside of Ft Bragg for weapon qualification, I finally got to see a good chunk of the ACWR, the shops, and a little bit of the Aberdeen and Rockfish as well. I remember years ago when I was a brakeman on the CF line, we took grain trains down to Gulf, NC to interchange with ACWR. I vaguely remember seeing an engine of theirs still in BC Rail colors in Gulf, sitting on the connection waiting to hand off empties back to us. For the past 15 years or so, they have gotten all their grain from CSX. NS created bad blood between ACWR and themselves with that. I remember the last train. It came from Roanoke, sat in Greensboro for about 4 days, ACWR brought 3 nice shiney engines over to Gulf to be in place, then we came back in from Cumnock after interchanging with ATW, expecting to turn and go back out with the grain, and it had been sent to Charlotte. But, a few months ago I caught a grain train out of Roanoke, and the symbol sounded familiar to me. 40J. I asked the conductor what the final destination was and the paperwork said Candoor. We swapped out with a crew in Spencer, that took it on to Charlotte to interchange with ACWR. Hope we see more of them. Great video!
They definitely have upped their game since I worked there . I remember coming out of that bottom after the 718 meet with 30 loads and 20 emptys and 6 GP18,s 4 axles Mtrs and have to double the train up to Ferrell gas
Just subscribed. That shortline has a classy, classy paint scheme. And, clean, classic SD40-2s, at that! That's a great nose herald - that logo. They must be expecting a bang-up business soon, if they plan to use all those CSX locomotives. We have CSX and Norfolk Southern in Atlanta. Track looks pretty good, except in the opening sequence at Aberdeen. It appeared there was a crooked knot in the rails. Seems the track and roadbed would have to be in good shape to take the beating big engines like that would put on it.
Nice to see 688 still in the old paint. If I recall correctly the AC6000's were the only ones to have YN2 with "CSX" painted in yellow. Definitely my favorite CSX paint scheme. And I just learned all of these units are retired. It's a shame but csx still has three AC6000's.
The 2 front locomotives, are pulling the train.. none of the CSX engines are running.. and all of the CSX engines with 2 lightning bolts, are 6500 hp, if they were running, they would be at idle at those speeds..
@@ArtVanAuggie In INDIAN RAILWAYS they use WAG9 series Electric Locomotives. Which is having 6350HorsePower in Each Locomotive. Since in INDIAN RAILWAYS they use 2 to 3locomotives based upon rake length
In the description you said they were going to Star for storage. Why the heck would they lease locomotives just to turn around and store them? That sounds like an NS management decision! Lol
I get the impression they were moving dead locos because that would be really over the top power. I was in Canada in May 19 They have some really long trains up there 180 cars long
So could they be dragging those other locomotives back from a big trainload One Direction. What do you think the odds of why they're dragging all those engines around. What do you think the reason is? I'm curious

@@annmaryIM Many of the modern Locos have that capability when in a active consist, maybe 1 of 3 engines will go off line (sleep) under light power demand, then start back up when more power is needed, "Automatic Engine Start". @@Muggar62 Inorder to run multiple locomotives in a consist a m.u. Given that the engines were DIT and the stacks covered because they were going into storage/scrapping, of course those two would be only ones. However, those 6000's could really haul some trains.
These AC6000’s were sold and ACW is going to rebuild them at their shops. The AC6000’s are headed to Union Pacific, will have the CSX logo painted over, horns added and shipped out once operating again
May be slowing down . Probably is just a little bit before the election. Because all this impeachment doesn't give people confidence. Confidence is everything in an economy. Production numbers show it wasn’t a failure nor was it junk lol if we want to talk about high horsepower locomotives and failure then the discussion gets moved to the SD90MAC or even the SD80MAC
When I worked for UP we tried not to use the AC6000 for lead power because of road failures. Now the SD90MAC had all kinds of issues. We had about 30 of them in storage.
Andrew Lequerique I think it’s more about reliability than being junk, I know CSX used them extensively and seemly had no real issues with them till later hence why they have all been sold off and their engine de-rated, main issues I’ve heard of is basically prime mover related, GE and GM both just extended the engine blocks of their 4,000 hp engines to accommodate more cylinders, obviously that never works out and you get a situation similar to the SD45 of snapping crank and cam shafts
Wow that some heavy head end power.

Technically not a lash up. The trailing CSX locomotives are not running, probably being transported.
TV Mohini man it’s a lash up...don’t be difficult.

I've seen long lash ups pass through my hometown before. Usually not pulling any cars, the trains like that were made up entirely of locomotives.
Scott Hayes that’s called a light power move
It's to get a perspective of it when you keep mindlessly zooming like that.
Pretty much..
if you look at the cars you think Amerika - If you look at the tracks you think Africa !
The tracks look that way because the video camera is zoomed in, the depth is compressed, making the track look in bad shape.
